  1. I believe that only single round seal beam headlights were offered from the factory on the R until the hood change in 1990 for use in the U.S. The rectangular seal beam became available in 1976 I believe. 1st manufacturer I can recall was GM on 1976 Regal/Cutlass/Monte Carlo and others but may have been on others.
  2. Mark, No one would pay to see a "realistic" movie about trucks & truck drivers, just like they wouldn't pay to see a movie about real cops, real bad guys, real anything. Even "based on a true story" is more fiction then reality.
  3. Dan, The only explainations of this movie that I respect are yours. Thank you for your insight. T.
  4. That interior pic makes me think fish have been swimming in there....
  5. I believe it was in the spring of 1983. I switched from washing trucks for Parrish Leasing to being the billing clerk for sister company Brothers Express. A Friday was my last day on the PLI side and on Monday I started at BXI billing. BXI was a cartage agency at the time and one of our carriers was Tucker. As luck would have it this was the same weekend that Tucker closed so come Monday my expected work load was down by about 1/4th..... As I said I believe it was spring, I was about 16 at the time. Tucker was based out of South Bend, IN and there recently was a article about them in Wheels of Time, when I say recently within the past year or so....
  6. 1st time I went to Mike's place I left there with a bandage on my head.... Took a B Model wrecker (Thumper) to him and brought home some steering components, a door & some other parts for my B Model.
  7. I really don't know if he would sell anything or not. I don't have much opportunity to talk to him directly.
  8. From what I understand he has buildings in Defiance & Archbold. These are setting in Archbold. Dan - I was told this L has some "legs" & it is one of the few sets that Sam has seen as well. He bought the L's out of FLA but they had previously been in NY state.
  9. Vinny, no U's that I know of but he has trucks stashed in at least 3 different locations... Mike, will do, & did you happen to notice the alum rears?
  10. Sam Hornish is a businessman in N.W. Ohio and an ATHS member. Here are a few of the Mack's that he has setting at his restoration shop.
  11. Congratulations (next month) to Wendy! Mike, you're a lucky man to find such a good woman. On a side note, Sam Hornish might be interested in my IHC....
  12. 1970 IHC Fleetstar cab & chassis. Double Frame, 549 gas engine, 5 speed, 2 speed rearend w/Detroit Locker. Originally built as a recovery truck, dealer installed roof A/C, power steering, air brakes & air horn. Solid truck stored inside until 1 year ago. Please call 260-693-0092, Leave Message.
  13. Off the subject of your questions but the attached pic is of the tanker that I spent a year as engineer on. When this unit was built (1987) it was "THE" tanker in the area. 3,500 gal/1,500 GPM pump. 2 years prior to me coming onto the department an error was made by the operator & he "over-pumped" a mutual-aid pumper & damaged it. My question to you is: If you are going to replace 3 other trucks with this one, why not go to 1,500 gpm & just a touch more water? This unit is a 7 speed but an auto would have been much better IMO because so few on a typical F.D. regularly drive commercial trucks and that can be hard on a transmission & clutch. One thing about why so many mfg's don't offer Mack may be the truck & engine electronics may not be compatible with any electroincs that they offer (i.e. secondary throttle-up controls, pump controls, etc). Perhaps their electronics will work with Cummins & MB/Detroit, but not with Cat or Mack. Just a few thoughts from someone who has been away from the fire service for many years but encountered such problems in the past. T.
  14. There is a link above the picture to the story about the crash. Driver was 54 and lived nearby. Click on the link and you can read the whole story...
  15. About anything you want to know about the movie can be found here: http://www.stlouisdumptrucks.com/ConvoyMackTruck/index.html Dan is the man when it comes to "Convoy" knowledge & considering he owns two of the RD trucks & the surviving trailer I don't doubt what he says....
  16. Huh? What? Larry did you say something? My hearing isn't quite what it use to be.....
  17. I have two of those out in my barn complete with gaskets. Didn't know you were looking for one. But guess it doesn't matter because I'm not ready to sell mine yet Larry....
  18. http://www.limaohio.com/sections/article/gallery/?pic=2&id=83914&db=limanews I drove by this one about 3 hours after it happened today. Not sure when they recovered the truck. Had to cut the driver out.
  19. Converse, IN.... probably setting at Rick's Truck Service.
  20. Larry, Might not be a bad idea as I don't know if I will ever get back on my B project. Life just keeps getting in the way of it....
  21. If I ever get back to my B61 I already have had the gauge panel, glovebox, cigar tray cover, & door panels (big & small round) chrome plated. I also had the door window trim powder coated with a polished silver color as well as the heater box cover. Oh, and yes that is a new, never used zero miles Speedometer and a new, never used zero hours tachometer.
  22. I hope he didn't venture too close to Kansas City, MO. Rumor has it the Kansas City Nazi Party has the Gestapo looking for him because of his comments on this page....
  23. Happy Birthday Mike!!!
