  1. I know about chasing this issue on an AC.. Remember these Onyx?

Check the cam sensor and the flywheel sensor. while its running, unplug one of them. if it shuts off, the other one has an issue. the flywheel sensor wires are prone to damage because it gets all the spray off the steer tire.. pull the loom back and gently tug on the wire from the plug up towards the engine as far as you can, its about a foot..

  5. I just went back to page 1 and read it 4 times.. with all that has been posted, I came up with 1 question.. did you check the rocker arms to see if they 'rock' smoothly? I know that E-7 push rods can be installed wrong, off to the side of the lifter. I was wondering if a rocker arm hung up in the valve open position, and the push rod jumped off the top of the lifter.. Im really 'Reaching' on this one.. Jojo

  7. I actually use a small kitchen strainer when I am trouble shooting an issue. Gear oil is a bit thick but the pieces fall into the strainer.
  8. Those straight sixes were tough.. I had a few of them. I'm a Chevy guy every day, but the Ford 300 is the best one.. I currently have 2 straight sixes. My '48 Int. KB-7 has a 290 cid. When I stomp on it in low or first, the torque is awesome.. It's a puller.. The 454 in the C-10 is gonna cost me.. I am also going to freshen up the TH-400 as well..

  10. its a southern truck... it a C-10.. hyd. lifters. He tried to win a street race against a motorcycle.. he said he WON... but I own his broken truck... I WON.. jojo
  11. I looked back..... He said ALL got sent out... so he may not have been involved in the actual install's.. No offense, just trying to get a better perspective... jojo
  12. in his post he said new cam.. unless I read it wrong, but I didnt see new lifters.. heck, anything could have happened.. How do we know his driver didn't over rev. it, on a downhill run, ? I did fleet management for a long time and I heard so many story's,,,,,,, looking back, my brain would hurt trying to figure out the B.S. ... Yep, another one of my opinion's.. jojo
  13. yeah me too... I havent touched my '48 in over a month, and this weekend I have a Mack quad dump, coming to my shop for a 'C' P.M. and I bet I will have repairs.. My truck will wait again..

  15. You all set,, I recommend the cam timing tool if you dont have one...
  16. do you have the essential tools to do the build? ie: cam timing tool, rear cover hold downs, main seal installers, barring tool, heck I'm loosing track... anyway, get prepared, and dont be scared... jojo

  19. drop the pan and look up,, try to get your fingers on the lobes to feel them if you can,, Hell, you probably knew that,, I'm sorry..
  20. You are too Kind, Onyx.. Truth is... I ran away from MP engines years ago.. I did'nt look back to see if they were gaining, I just RAN !!.. I truly have forgotten a lot about diagnostics on the E.A.T.S. and E.G.R. issues.. I do remember the glove test, 👍.. You are smarter than you realize on these MP's.. Jojo
  21. The acc. relay, if connections are loose can cause a shutdown if it V-Mac II. V-Mac I has a pull stop.. It is a good suggestion to check the acc. relay. It is under the ash tray inside the dash. You can here a loud click when you cycle the key, and if you dont know where it is, the sound will bring you to it
  22. Loose grounds, and if it is V-mac II, I would check the plug connection and condition at the injection pump. the deutch connector needs to be secured into the yoke that should be there. jojo
