  1. My MS 211 was crap from day one.. 2 trees in,. I had to have the clutch and both fill caps replaced under warranty.. I'm a dummy too..
  2. I bet his compressor clutch is the type you can't see.. they started that crap 10+ years ago.. it turned a quick inspection into a half day event...
  3. The rocker shafts do NOT come with the heads.. I don't mean disrespect with my next question..... How well do you know these engines? If you have engine building experience, then doing this job won't be hard, just some new aspects. Many of us here can guide you. And many of us have the service manuals to look up info.. To repeat myself.. The special tools are essential. Jojo
  4. There really aren't any corners to cut here... I highly recommend the H-rings tools,, if they are NOT set at the correct depth and 'clocked' correctly... The CAM WILL GET DESTROYED IN THE FIRST HOUR... jojo
  5. They can be threads, but I believe he said they are the size of a ball point pen spring. Inside the valve rotators is a coil spring. We had many issues with them breaking down and had to replace them,. I believe we went from top rotators to bottom style.
  6. H-rings can be checked from the bottom with the special tool. However, installation, is done from the top with the heads off.. it is easy to do. The book explains it in simple terms.. you may need to get oversized H-rings if there was excessive movement of the original H-rings.. the tools can be bought from Freedom Racing.com for about $350.00+.
  7. Back to the first posting... Since you have this much damage and still haven't checked the rest of the cylinders, I suggest you look closely at both heads, on the top for more of those spring coils.. that indicates bad valve rotators and replacing rotators is a little bit of a job. The valve seals will be replaced at the same time, then you have to wiegh the fact tha the valves should be lapped or ground, then there is tooling, knowledge, and down time... All of these combined, may steer you towards 2 re-man heads, just to get that part done. The cam is likely JUNK.. the H-rings,,,. At the very least should be replaced on the bad cylinder. Are you familiar with H-rings inspection, and installation? And choosing the correct size H-Ring? The rocker shaft needs to checked really good for re- use,. I will stop here for now. Keep posting.. Jojo
  8. Ok.. I'm grabbing at straws..
  9. Those rings look like rotator rings.. check the valve rotators, and use a magnet stick to reach into all the corners of the top of the head, and inside the heads of the core plugs. I assume that chunks are lifter chunks. Do you have the ability to check the H-rings.. ?
  10. Do you have 2 steering u joints at the steering box, like an RD?
  11. I get it... I'm loosing My E-7 knowledge lately... I need to read the book again.. Just sayin'..
  12. Yes sir,, wasnt the setting for the jakes based on the turbo part number?? I have done a few but am not a pro. I remember taking 2-3 feeler gauges together, and checking each side of the funny looking piston.. I do not own the E-7 feeler gauge tools.. I think the lashes were .040'', .060'', & .080''... I sure am glad I have service manuals..
  13. Sorry 'F'... I'm really not trying to correct you, And your info is correct for the Jacobs 690 Brake heads after Updates like top oil feed and Armoly reset screws.. It did go from .015'' - .017'' - then to .021".. jojo
  14. ;F;.. I think you are thinking about the E-Tech?? I believe he has an E-7...........
  15. Very true, FJH.. yoke setting is crucial, and I have seen it overlooked many times.. I have also replace guide pins for that reason.. With the Jake heads on, patience is very important during valve adjustment.. with rockers off,,,. It's a breeze.. Jojo
  16. I like a 460 in a CL.. I drove one with an XT in it, an the torque was really strong.. just my opinion.. no biggie..
  17. That was my first thought too FJH.. But he says they are good... Maybe a second look is needed..
  18. I'm guessing it's right hand drive. I'd love to see a picture. How long has it been touching and under what conditions does it touch? Ie: driving style, and terrain? Does it touch when off road? Can you rotate the compressor volute out of the way and make a new CAC pipe?
  19. Mack pro is right.. If you post the tire size, O.D. ratio,, (.76:1 ??) tone ring is 16 teeth, rear end ratio,... I have the dipswitch charts.. I can post a picture.. I am at school this week, so it will be after 7 p.m. til thursday.. Maybe someone has the chart to post earlier.. jojo
  20. They do ride hard, but they are working Dogs.. i think they were born in 02,.... I forgot
  21. Mech... my wife can drive, been doin it since '87.. thats how we met.. she is an older lady,, (Mature).. she also happens to be attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. oh, and she has driven long nose Pete's over the road.. Dump trucks, flat bed, and dry bulk tankers.. I met her when she was hauling dry cement, and lime dust (rice) ,, and a bunch of straight trucks, and equipment on a drop deck.. at a concrete company that I did fleet maint. at.. her favorite was hauling jersey barrier's on a flat bed.. she's in my ear right now as I type this.. She wants to get back in a truck.. says the hardest part of delivering jersey barrier's was, backing down the side of a highway, with all the car lights in her mirror's as she tried to get to the gradall to get her barriers off loaded... she's tough guy's.. I may have robbed this thread, sorry.. But I cant help but brag on my wife... jojo
  22. I bet she is close to 50 years old, and still a Hottie...
