  1. $198,000 for that KW bullnose seems like some sort of fantasy but I guess it is what it is. There are two completely restored examples parked next to one another at the Iowa80 truck museum. I stopped there on Saturday on my way back from Mt Rushmore. It an awesome collection and worth a stop if you’re passing by. You could probably spend an entire day there reading and looking at everything.
  2. I took this picture of the sunset yesterday evening heading West on I90 about 50 miles East of Sioux City, South Dakota. Was on my way to see Mount Rushmore and the Badlands.
  3. Nothing like being on a well pad when they are fracing. Six or so 12 cylinder diesels running wide open throttle. I used to haul sand into a lot of them. What an insane business.
  4. Another thing to look for if the supply hose to the LDA checks out OK is the torque limiting valve (if you have one). If its faulty it could be permanently dumping your boost pressure to the LDA regardless of what gear you are in. I don't know if these fail and if they do what is their mode of failure is. You could check it by capping the line running from the manifold back to the transmission. This will take the torque limiting valve out of the equation for diagnostic purposes. If your sluggishness improves you might have a bad torque limiting valve. As I said before I don't know how common this really is though but easy to check.
  5. Why on God's green earth would you want to maximize the amount of smoke coming out of your truck? Also, what year and what engine?
  6. Saw this on Facebook Marketplace. No affiliation. Thought I would post it here for others to see. Seems like a good price for a pretty rare truck. Looks to be in amazing shape. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1124453832289350/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post
  7. Can't it be overhauled? https://www.powerbrakex-change.com/
  8. Why not call Watts Mack and start there? If any dealer can get it they can....
  9. The previous owner of my B81 put "shop built" power steering on it from a much later year Mack R model. The steering column is not original to the truck so I assume its from the donor truck the pump and steering gear came from. My truck also has a 237 Maxidyne in it so mounting the pump was not an issue. Heck, maybe the my engine, steering column, and steering gear all came out of the same donor when I assume the original thermodyne engine gave up. I have no way of knowing as it was all done when I got it. It looks like a very "professional" install, but to the trained eye it is easy to see its not original to the truck. It works extremely well though turning that massive 12.00x24 rubber even when the truck is not moving.
  10. Is that the same Gene Olsen that was an engineer at Snap On Tools and developed the "flank drive" hex sockets for the Navy? I think he worked for Snap on for almost 70 years before finally retiring. The same guy?
  11. I think the trucks and trailers start at the end of page 6. Lots of restored antique trucks and trailers. One of those sky high internationals, a really rare snubnose international, a Mack LTL, Mack LJ, and several other Paccar trucks. Its a Mecum auction so the prices will be beyond sky high but at least its something to look at. https://www.mecum.com/auctions/east-moline-tractor-2023/lots/page/6/
  12. 2004 is port fuel injection. 2017 is most likely direct injection. Possibly something to do with that?
  13. That is somebody’s dream ride. A long hood R model with mechanical cat power. Has to be a pretty rare mut….
  14. I'm going to start lubing my camel's hump like everyone is saying to do by jacking it up first. I'm just curious does the Mack lubrication literature say to do it this way? Or is this one of those lessons learned through the school of hard knocks?
  15. Somebody might have to start a new thread towards the end of the year for the 2024 election. I bet there will be a mountain of good content over the course of the next campaign. Who are you taking this time around? Trump or DeSantis?
  16. It says it is government owned. Which makes sense as to why it has an Allison auto. Usually government trucks of this era were left over parts bin Fords and GMCs or International (if you were lucky) specd' out under piggyback contracts so you didn't have to go through a formal bidding process to get a truck. Somebody went all out with on this baby. Doesn't look like its seen much use outside of the sunny South. Them frame rails look new and somebody kept her shined up.
  17. And everyone please take note of that fine-as-wine DM in the background of the first picture. Still earning its keep.....😍
  18. And hopefully Johnny law didn't write you up for illegal steer tires when he did his investigation. That sucker looks mighty thin.....
  19. I'm sure this thread will get many responses and many different answers. Just from what I'm seeing in the pictures no way whatsoever did that collision cause those tranny bolts to shear or come loose. I think they would have broke / come loose whether you got in that accident or not. Just going by what the pictures tell me.
  20. HaHa yea it definitely wasn't you. I think he bought a KB from somewhere and somehow found out it had also been listed here on the for sale section. He made an account then got really mad at me and dissappeared right after. I have never seen his name pop up since. Is your KB a "regular" distributer with breaker points and a coil for the ignition? I can't imagine a1948 would have a magneto.
  21. This makes me think back a year or two ago there was some guy on here asking about switching a 6V system over two 12V and I told it wasn't necessary unless he was after a bunch of modern 12V accessories. I offered up a good deal of objective information and he wanted to kill me. I got the impression he was really mad that I suggested keeping it 6V. I actually think it was a International KB too.
  22. There is an international forum called “binder planet” I think. Have you been there? A lot of KB builds there. Maybe an old international guy would know.
