  1. don't think it's limited to only your area trying to find someone to cut rings. wide spread . have 15 mins before leaving for Dr appointment. knew I should have stayed off BMT. will be in Dr office racking brain cells trying to picture head gaskets of days gone by to see fire rings/ grooves. late now !!
  2. the 40K mileage added quickly with the frequent trips from TN to CT. once back to tax ridden CT , didn't go to far with the GMC
  3. other end of the "stick"; I took advantage of the insane prices for vehicles . had a '17 GMC duramax which I bought end of '18 with 22K miles. excellent truck had pin striping and extras. put 40K miles on it ; traded it in on my new jeep in '21. point is the dealer paid me for trade in just under what I paid for it 3 yrs before. the RV topic was out the window (according to wife) ; regen was breaking my ba-ls ; wasn't using it enough . didn't need it . couldn't say no when offer was 14K higher than on line listings. dealer wanted older units.
  4. large 8 hole side cover should be above filler plug . would be nice to have a follow up .
  5. It's a JEEP thing!!!!🦆🦆I have two on my dash . finding a jeep parked , leave a duck with tag on the drivers door handle. I carry a bag of rubber ducks with tags. have seen and talked to jeep owners having numerous ducks. for me it's a way of adding a little positive in a sad world we live in. also there is the "jeep wave" . besides liking the 2021 Mojave I have the people for the most part are fun. same as the B-model / Mack people. jeep duck kinda like the Mack coins= having one is a=== almost said pride thing. not sure if that's wrong today also .. having one is a proud thing!!🦆
  6. and with the backhoe , you can dig a deep hole for burying the sh-t ; cause we all know it gets pretty deep at times around here. good news on the pin; hopefully a little searching will turn up the rear counter weight.
  7. in todays world , thinking all/most of the DMV inspectors of days past ( that had common knowledge of class8) have since retired . to register vehicle might be easier ; NOT counting the paperwork part.
  8. think the GVW will be the problem for you. don't know the new rules today in this messed up state. more and more glad I gave up the C D L after 50 yrs. a semi has to/must be over the 26K max for non CDL
  9. that makes sense. the toggle switch went to air slave cyl on 5th wheel . cut off wires went to dash WITH INDICATOR light or buzzer letting operator know 5th wheel not locked. wheel change over to manual or just put in one spot and left. disconnected air /electric . THANK YOU for follow up info
  10. A wise person once said " the longer you live the more funerals you attend" . never gave it a thought , but true. when you get to the senior yrs (me), and see an OLD B-model for sale ; stop and think= hey that was a new truck when i was young!!! LOL
  11. side by side 20 vs 22.5 will work the only technical situation would be tire temps internally . heavy load / hot days/ long hauls . also depends on tire condition as to one set having more weight displacement vs temp.
  12. talked to a friend still working for Coke in CT yesterday; company going to all automatics . doesn't think the new hires could drive a manual. He's counting the days to leave it's gotten so bad . after reading these post , can see why the major commotion at DMV when I turned in my CDL. couldn't / wouldn't want to attempt getting a CDL today.
  13. super enlargement shows a possible feed line on left (1/2 in) two top ports on right plugged off on bottom.
  14. correct me if I'm wrong ;; isn't the alum fire wall block just an air manifold .individual ports. flip dash switch see/ hear what happens. possibly some thing was disconnected or by passed. manifold must help in chassis building when new, full groom cab = chassis functions plumb in to lower ports?
  15. HAVE A POSITIVE BIRTHDAY BOB. how many candles will be on the DM frame rails
  16. outta likes already !!! compliments always appreciated >LMAO😂. now i'm confused (again) thought turkeys were for Thanksgiving . who's taken the hit for going off topic now !!
  17. to change over wheel size spiders :: drums/hubs / bearing etc still have to come apart. the spiders bolts go through drums/ hubs . little bit of work, at least shouldn't have to buy ALL new parts just seals and spiders. can't correctly answer question regards to floaters on front weight wise.
  18. it's just the price you pay when your expertise is known world wide. 🤣
  19. definitely NOT a dumb question. I always felt it was dumb not to ask when in doubt rather then have something go wrong.
  20. did a couple of changeovers in the day before the tubeless .5 idea . when things were a bolt on system , bearing/ hubs/ drums reused only the spokes were changed to go 20in to 22in.
  21. Have to think this one out more; running late . a 11R24.5 is basically a 22 in wheel; a 22.5 =20 in wheel. thanks for verification double clutch .i'm going with to do a change over as stated hubs need changing . will the steering box take strain ???
  22. even with you as owner/operator , worn suspension could be a problem :: travel track worn too much might keep throwing the chain. have taken worn rails and built up ends with welder. front idler on bad rails goes crooked tilts idler =chain jumps track (like on news lately). if it runs and bucket raises ; how bad are the teeth/ shanks / cutting edge??? any caps missing and shanks worn to point of not holding new caps.?? can't imagine how Joeys name came to be in this topic LMAO😄 there is that possibility the proper counter weight is there . big cast with notches to rest on rear hanger brackets.
  23. I see the Twinkies in the parts photo 🤣. had two torque multipliers .. long bar was 3/4 in 1in out . for this job the long handle made life a lot easier.
  24. this topic has to be in the top 10 of comical . sitting here mentally going down memory lane. first truck to officially operate was the '57 Diamond-T Mack wrecker ; gas job 5speed electric 2 speed . road test was being handed a piece of paper with directions to a road call. first tow back was nervous for me. test for CDL was with Diamond-t wrecker with B-model on hook . short wheel base for sure. towing and backing was by then a natural; except when being watched by inspector. like shifting a multi speed transmission , moves and timing automatic motion: have you ever drove and shifted thinking about the moves . not easy. engine sound / revs tell you when it's right ; try watching the tach and shift !
  25. when running without the hoe most machines had a rear counter weight installed. if a counter weight isn't found where machine is located (ask the owner ; one might be hiding in high grass ); making a concrete weight to hook on rear hinges wouldn't take much. won't mention any names ; but I know someone on here that's mixing a lot of bags of cement for a garage floor ,possibly he can mix a couple more for your counter weight LOL LOL 😁
