  1. If memory is correct the 290 in a 9000 was like the U model macks ;; part in the cab with dog house AND sat on a slant. with the 4 corner head bolts at 325 . my back has a better memory then I do about certain moments.
  2. there should be as you said an end on the drive side which "plugs in to" the cable housing, most are 1 +- long having 1/8th in shaft with flat spot which goes in to tach drive. opposite end round barrel having internal square for cable to fit in to. no cable end =start there, with all safety concerns met. remove cable from eng drive side start eng see if the center is spinning. with end installed on cable drive side spin by hand = old days a second person watched the tach in cab. today guess a person puts their phone on steering wheel while in video mode ?? have seen many cables missing drive fitting. rare occasion the drive gear under the two bolt housing failed .
  3. throwing/giving away the major down fall of moving. my auction had a full page of items that went. that doesn't count "truck load " of stuff I gave away before auction. toys/ tools
  4. don't think Your alone on that. wait till you get old !! I opened the superliner hood today checking the return grommets between the heads ;; sit here now = haven't a clue the space between front feet.
  5. Father had a '56 ford F100 which he put a large plastic liner/filled it with water and neighbor hood kids got in the back as he drove around town with his "Mobile swimming pool" , and we didn't have life preservers on.
  6. basically all the conventionals , R/U/DM's had front leggs on a base, some B's only had the small base.
  7. the cab over dogs such as yours and F models only stood on hind legs. the R's/Dm's / U's apparently needed more support having a pedestal.
  8. not going to do you much good now ; BUT every time we moved I gave stuff away. half bulldogs/ hood with pedestal bull dogs / books/literature ! have to stop thinking before I get upset stomach. ☹️
  9. E-9 400  loosing prime after long sit time

  10. I had the bulldog and pedestal mounted on my '77 F-350 hood. had to slightly notch the bottom center to fit ford hood. don't remember how doggy sat. he did have a custom made red/white/blue winter hat to keep his ears warm.
  11. seems the farmer kids of the early generation didn't need all these present day needles/shots either. had a better immune system playing in and eating dirt. picking veggies from garden we didn't run to water hose and wash everything. wipe the beans/ carrots on work clothes and munch away.
  12. would be interesting to see if someone else has this situation ? grinding the back legs might require some engineering if I remember the back legs sat on a beveled pedestal . grind one too much the ole doggy will be cock eyed .
  13. old school (E -6 ?) transfer pumps had 3/4 hex nuts ; this pump has 7/8 size probably metric . some brake clean an further investigation up coming days.
  14. I don't recall the front legs sitting on the pedestal . one of those things didn't get attention. to me it's another sign of the times items being made cheaper in quality not price. as a thought . cut two pieces of the rubber/ felt put on chair bottoms ? having sticky glue ? install on front legs . neat job in cutting won't be seen but might take the gap up and add support??
  15. time for this ole man to further his education. I've been requested to check a superliner having E9 V/8 400. this is basically a toy truck not at the moment daily workhorse. sits for months at a time (4-6) ? when attempts made to start there is fuel loss . it has the primer pump on the baby v8 injection pump. does this primer have same two nylon T shaped check valves as the old school 6's had ??? I don't think there's a problem other then the lapse time between starting. told owner I would check with greatest source in the world the BMT crew ; so here I ask. plan is to go back fire it up for a while then go back in day or two restart. no fuel leakage .didn't put alot of time on it today; hay baler down at the farm took too much time . two projects 10miles apart.
  16. not only eggs but all farm raised/ grown food is better. hated as a kid being on a farm ;but sure do miss it now.
  17. can't keep this egg topic on a roll . but one more. if millions of chickens had to be eliminated , where did they go? in to pet food or on the shelves for consumers to eat ! how did the shortages resupply so fast (after Easter) kept the remaining chickens on overtime ? or did they take the "rainbow" roosters and put them to work making eggs.
  18. even with enlarging the picture . difficult to see wheel; almost looks black from shadow. one fine looking unit. thanks for picture. now the pressure is on to get yours done looking same.
  19. the egg saga was enough to panic people to buy what they didn't need / raise the price. bet no one walked in to the store back room to see if cases of eggs were there to give appearance the store shelves were empty. like the gas -goes from $1.50 per to 6.00 then when it drops to $4.50 people are happy price came down!! it's still $3.00 more then it should be. if you have an item for sale which you want $100.oo for;; do you ask $100. OF COURSE NOT. you ask $175.oo knowing the bargaining will bring it down to $150. oo . so seller(government) still screws the public which think they are getting a bargain since over rated price dropped.
  20. you have all the components to build your own gym. take a mounted rear tire -roll it up/down street for few laps.or two brake drums on a pipe== bench press . another u tube video in the making .also ! neighbors start watching. you can give classes. will have enough $$$ to get the DM up and running.
  21. confused as to the walking beam suspension 'then realized it's a DM 6- - S;; not SX. 38 rears ????
  22. if you bought the $150.oo hood think of the experience not gained/ my biggest "dumb move "was two simple words :::I DO !! have been paying ever since.
  23. is it going to have a chrome bumper or painted ?? I'm between DR visits for a while ; will it be ready for the sept Labor day parade so I can ride in it ??
