  1. Doubleclutchinweasel........many years ago I worked for an outfit that had Detroit Lockers in a fleet of International tandems with rock boxes. No switch in the cab, didn't steer worth crap and clunked while turning just like you said. On the older Mack rears.......can the interwheel power divider be added to ones that don't have them? Or do you have to change the whole rear end? Also how did the automatic ones work? Did they work well or where they problematic?
  2. I be just as happy if they would start selling gliders like Freightliner.....so I can put an E9 in a new Titan.....or Pinnacle Rawhide.
  3. Yes mhe9......keep that E9 as long as you can. I want to see the new MP's do good, but I think the E9 was by far the greatest engine of all time. Would be cool to see those 750 h.p. ratings make it into the Titan though. I hope Volvo lets Mack get the big ratings first over here. I see www.dieselspec.com is advertising dpf/scr deletes and power programming coming for the MP10. And Steinbauer has an MP10 programmer that is supposed to give 20% more h.p. and torque. Don't know anybody that has tried one though.
  4. Just saw an add from Mack....shows a highway and says "We're embarking on a new journey." 03. 04. 14. Any ideas?? Something to do with the new Presidents announcement he wants a bigger share of the long haul highway market?? Or a new model? Or finally M-Drive in Granite/Titan?????
  5. You'll have to excuse us MHE9.......we're just excited because Mack finally isn't the sick-puppy back of the pack roach that it has been since the demise of the E9. You kinda get tired of being laughed at with the most current batch of E7's.
  6. The guy in the CL is saying TABERNAC!! LOL.
  7. My friend Will found it. It won't let me post a link here though?? I don't know what state of tune that E9 was in, but I'm impressed as hell. Kinda backs up what my two buddies here have been telling me about their 605 MP10's. They are self loader trucks and they gross 140,000. One guy has an International with an ISX 600 that has been deleted and has that 700 h.p. program that you see advertised and it can't catch the stock Titans. And when they do that program and delete on the Cummins they replace the VG turbo with a bigger regular turbo and it takes away all the power on the engine brake. My buddy told me he can't use the engine brake on high with his MP10 on snowpack without chains. They are having a problem of breaking yokes on the driveline though. In defense of the E9 though.....with the right tune they are pretty easy to turn into an animal.
  8. Thanks Logtruckman!!!! Can you just copy and post the link so we can find it?? I don't do face$#ck so I tried searching you-tube but it is not on there.
  9. We just use standard air powered roll tarps that come on our Bibeau boxes from Gin-Cor.
  10. I go everywhere with air ride. Wouldn't want anything but now.
  11. Man, I agree. Sick of all the constant bitching about Volvo. Get over it. Maybe you all should have gotten loans and bought Mack yourself, LOL.
  12. No pics yet....but I wouldn't get a control tower. I like them down on the floor between the driver seat and the the drivers door. That's leaves you cab free between the seats to put a cooler/fridge, etc. I've also had all the controls on the dash depending on truck model (if it has the room.) I find the control towers are excessively large for what is on/in them. Plus I don't like the in-cab controls for my pony trailers. I switched them to all manual in the box on the pony itself. And I use a manual diverter. In cab controls are nice......until the salt green death gets into all the electrical. Plus I like an excuse to get out of the truck once in a while.
  13. The 45* is nice as you get no material hung up on it and more clearance dumping into a spreader. But if you get stuck you better have a chain to pull with as there is no push plates on the back to put a blade against. I looked but don't have any pics of my interior on this computer. If I remember I'll post pics of the tower when I get home.
  14. They have a contract with Allison that is ending.......they agreed to make Allison exclusive in the vocational models, in return they got a cheaper price on them. That's why for a long time it was cheaper to get Allison's in Mack's than most other makes. The M-Drive is coming for Granite's. If you think they won't handle off road, you should check out the 700 h.p. Volvo loggers over seas.
  15. True....maybe an American outfit would have bought them and maybe it COULD have been better. Or maybe we could have ended up with more super reliable E7 E-Techs that killed off all of Macks market share and customer loyalty like in the early 2000's......that Mack is just starting to get back. Or maybe we could have got the same quality my 2013 Western Star was built with in Carolina, which is far below the build quality of my Mexican built 2012 Freightliner Coranado SD.
  16. Holy crap......get over it! Volvo SAVED Mack. Mack was dying a quick death with the junk they were building from 2000 to 2006. No, the new "Volvo's" will never be like the pre 90's Mack's........but nothing else will ever be as good either. It's a new world. Get used to your mass produced junk and be happy we have what we have.
  17. Can't see why the Titan's didn't work out for them. My friends Titan loggers are performing well. My new Western Star on the other hand.......very poor build quality. Not to mention they installed the wrong rad mounts and engine fan.
  18. Thanks for the info. I'd like to see their other stuff because that Superliner is a beauty!
  19. You are part correct. The Maxx 13 is a MAN engine and the Maxx 15 is the C15 Cat block. Both failed miserably because of the mass egr. Latest rumour is Cat is once again working on their own engine. I can't see it though....the new ctl loaders have Kubota motors in them and the new dpf equipped excavators have identical interiors, manufacturer decals and hydraulic shudder as the new Komatsu's. What is happening to Cat? Sad.
  20. I don't have an MP10 to compare, but the 600 Cummins in our 2012 Coronado SD is gutless. My 550 Cat with identical gearing and tire size will pull hills 15 to 20 mph faster. Got two friends with MP10 605's and they love them. One got out of an E9 and said his new one pulls the hills in the same gear.
  21. Funny you say that, I had Freightliner catch fire over the weekend because of that. Only thing that saved it was I had the dump box up to the first stage and when it burnt through the hydraulic line, the box came down and the forcing oil flow extinguished the fire.
  22. First off let me say I love Camelback. But my current dump truck is air ride, and I would never buy anything but again. The ride quality is unbeatable. As far as traction, you need to learn few things first. If you've been moving and bouncing, sometimes you need to hit the susp. dump valve for a couple seconds, because if the bags are pressured right up and topped out, you will spin out. For the most part in sand, I can go where rubber block and spring trucks won't move. But you have to get used to playing with that dump valve. Also you want to dump the air when dumping your load, to avoid the bags topping out. It is hard on them. Only time I don't dump the air is if I'm dumping into a spreader, as the load comes out slow enough it has time to adjust. Stability....doesn't bother me. I have spread with air in the bags. Truck is still upright. Very low maintenance. I've rarely ever replaced an air bag, and nothing to grease. They are just so much easier on the truck and the driver. So your oppinions may vary....but it is air for this guy.
  23. Sweet!! That brings back memories! Nice truck.
  24. What is in the square box under the drivers door, besides the urea tank? Are the batteries in there also? Nice truck. Have a friend where I live that has a new Titan self loader log truck with the 605 and he loves it. Told me it pulls the hills in the same gears as his old E-9 powered CL.
  25. Just wondering....when is Mack's "Allison Exclusive" deal for auto's in the vocational models done? I thought it was this year or next? Just wondering when we will be able to get the M-Drive in the Granite and Titan?
