  1. I've read a lot about the two different styles of injection pumps. The V style and inline. The truck I'm looking at has an inline pump. is that a Bosch, or Robert Bosch? Which is better?
  2. Hicrop, if you do attend the show, I'd like to meet you. I wouldn't be surprised if you know a bunch of my relatives.
  3. All my trucks work every day. A trailer queen is a truck that doesn't work, it gets trailered from show to show.
  4. September 17th. Gates open at 9:00 AM. I don't know anymore than that. The number at Raceway Park is 732.446.7800. I'm 20 minutes away. I've never displayed my trucks before, but I might give it a try. Are you the guy from Dirken in Phila?
  5. Is this a big deal to you guys? I hear a lot about Macungie. Not sure if E-town was on your radar. I've ever been to either of them. Thinking of taking my Superliner there this year. I've always gone to Maple Grove instead. I assume it's not mandatory to race the truck. I'm not interested in racing.
  6. I have two 9060B excavators. I can get some stuff. For instance, I just bought the last heater control valve on the planet. I needed a final drive, but had to search for a used one. Not much support from Case. Cat has whatever I need. I have two 966C loaders. They have or will get anything I need. I'm a devout Cat man! Feel the same way about Mack. Although with the changes Volvo is making, that is subject to change.
  7. I am not as concerned with the price of the parts as I am the availability of the parts. I buy Cat and Case earth moving equipment parts every day. Cat charges a lot, but has everything I want almost instantly. Case charges more, and often the part is not available. Some of my Cat machines go back well into the 70's. While Case no longer supports two machines that are a 1998 and a 2000.
  8. One of my dump trucks, a 1997 RD 688S blew the R/F floater , and destroyed the wheel opening and some other stuff. I'm looking into repairing the nose that I have. Is it possible to put the older style R Model nose on this truck? I have toyed with this thought before, but backed off because, making my trucks look older than they are only attracts more attention from the law. I don't need that! Thoughts?
  9. I'm looking at the CL that is in the classified section on this site. I'm usually hesitant to go into detail about a purchase so as not to draw unwanted interest into the situation. But this truck is out in the open already. Does anyone have info on it? I am a Superliner guy from way back, however I am 6'-8" and really appreciate the added space in the CL cab. This truck while 2500 miles away from me, is how I would spec it, minus a double frame. The seller said it has been turned up a bit (700), but that it's at about 550 now. To be honest, I'd like it at 700. You don't have to use it all, but it's sure nice to have it waiting for you!!
  10. I've read a lot on this forum about the awesome power of the Mack E9 V8. I'm wondering where the E9 shines the most. I'd like to hear from some guys that have, or have had this big power plant. I'm looking at one with a Mack 18 speed behind it. The pros and cons of owning one.

Very nice!! I'd put that baby to work. I love a long hood. .
  12. I hit the air shifter after I make neutral, going from 1st to 2nd. I usually preselect going from 2nd to 3rd. If you keep a little pressure on the shifter it works fine and will air shift as you shift manually. If you don't keep enough pressure on the lever the air shifter will down shift about as violent as an earthquake. The other shifts are much easier. My 18 speed is effortless and easy. A gear for every occasion. There is no comparison. I am going to swap the 12 in my Superliner for an 18 at some point in the future.
  13. I have two 12 speeds, and to be honest, It isn't my favorite. You can't preselect in the lower gears. You can't get into fifth gear without a little crunch from the air shift. I don't use the clutch. Look at it like a five speed with a two speed rear. You can (but don't have to) split every gear. In my opinion, the 18 speed is hands down the best transmission you can put in a truck. The 13 speed is right behind it. The biggest benefit to a 12 speed, is that you have 5 speed in reverse. Another huge drawback is not many drivers have 12 speed experience, I don't like teaching people to drive in my trucks.
  14. What's involved in turning an E9 450 into a 500? How high can you turn one up without excessive smoke or fuel consumption? I found a Superliner with a 450, kind of got me thinking. - Tom / I
  15. When I purchased my CH613 in 2003, it had 775K on it. It was a one owner cream puff, and I wanted to do right by it. I went to my Mack dealer and asked if I should roll rods and mains in it. They told me the bearings could easily go a million miles, and that unless the was an oil pressure problem, or obviously a knock, not to do it. I didn't do it and am still running the truck. I have not had one minute of trouble with the truck, and still have great oil pressure. The way I was taught to check for bottom end wear is to get the engine good and hot. Then hop in the truck and watch the oil pressure as you slowly raise the RPM in steps. As engine speed goes up, the oil pressure does as well. Watch that the oil press never goes backwards. If it goes up and drops back down, that is indicative of bearing wear. The oil can't keep the gap between the crank and the bearing filled. I hope this makes sense to you. I've bought a lot of used trucks, and this has served me well. - Tom
  16. I have one. Are they not readily available anymore? - Tom
  17. That's a very good deal! Detachable lowboys are crazy expensive these days. The only drawback is the 12" brakes you get with the 10.00-20's. But if you're not running it every day, you'll be fine. Congrats! - Tom
  18. Where in NE Pa? Sent from my LG-VS450PP using Tapatalk
  19. I thought the coal industry was shut down by Obama.
  20. Every RD I've owned, had a double frame. The RD was a dump truck or a mixer similar to the DM. It was a heavier truck. Sounds like this truck has been molested.
