  1. A big dozer is my favorite machine to move. They fill up the trailer and look impressive. You get a lot of looks from the other people, and they're easy to load and secure and not a tall load that you need to worry about hitting a wire or bridge. Large rubber tire loaders and end dumps are the worst to move. They are very tall. Scrapers are tough to hold down. They always find a way to loosen the chains up.
  2. Why isn't this in the news? I haven't seen it anywhere. Sent from my LG-VS450PP using Tapatalk
  3. What was cost to dyno? I'd love to have mine done. - Tom
  4. Tough to believe a 350 is putting 336 to the ground. I would expect to see 18 to 20 percent loss. What HP is your engine?
  5. She might swing a tandem. Looks close. That's a very nice trailer for that money! I had a 1954 Hughs back in the mid 80's. Served me well. It was converted from vacuum brakes to air. It needed a brake adjustment every five minutes. Had 8.25x15 rubber. I made ramps a little shorter than yours, but they were hydraulic. I used an electric hydraulic pump from a snow plow lift, and Myer angle cylinders. Worked great. It was pleasure to use that trailer. The wood deck went side to side, Kind of unusual. - Tom
  6. I don't consider myself spoiled rotten. I feel I have paid my dues. I guess what I was getting at is, how did we do this with the low HP trucks that we ran not that long ago. I think it helped that the world was a little slower paced and a little friendlier. I gave the eulogy for my friend that died last week. I told the story from when I met the man in 1979. He was a contractor and I went to work for him. I got to reminiscing and that lead to this thread. Seems like we had less, and we were happier. Maybe I just miss being young. That's probably it. - Tom
  7. I will say, I don't miss ignition points.
  8. Yesterday I installed the Stage 3 Rochester Fuel Injection kit on my E7-400. It's a 400 HP engine with 12 gears. It wasn't enough to suit me. Then this morning I see a picture of a Mack R-Model stuck in the snow. Someone said it had a 237 in it. I started thinking back to a time when I moved a bunch of equipment with a Mack U-Model and a 237 with a 5 speed trans. It had NO power steering, NO air ride cab and NO shock absorbing seat. At that time I thought I was lucky, because when I was even younger, I worked for a guy (who just passed away) and moved his equipment with a Louisville with a gas engine and a 5 speed and a 2 speed rear. I also enjoyed driving that truck. I hope it isn't a sign of being a malcontent ! I'd rather see it as having the opportunity to improve/perfect a situation, and acting on it. Some day, a driver is going to hop in a 2016 KW with a 600 Cummins, and an 18 speed, and say, "I hope they fix my truck soon, I hate this rag". It won't be me. The memorial service for my dear friend was on Thursday. Just thinking out loud.
  9. F-model thanks for fixing those pictures. They were killing me!
  10. I'm sorry, I just saw the KW part. I never heard of fuel restraint.
  11. I have a tractor, I said 49", could be 50" I thought you were talking about a tractor.
  12. Does anybody use a fuel pressure gauge in their dash? My Superliner has one. The guy that bought it new had it installed by the dealer. He is well known for specing and keeping a truck well. I think it's info worth having.
  13. What is first gear ratio and final drive on Mack 12 speed? I don't mean the LO gears. I'd be interested in the same info on Mack 18 speed.
  14. Your input is welcomed. If you have 15 speed knowledge, you're way ahead of me. I've driven a lot of different trucks, but not a 15. What I look for, is a nice low gear, and that the rest of the rears are close together.
  15. 41 chev, getting back to the 15 speed. Does it go low enough for lowboy use? I don't like to have the clutch doing the work.
  16. What would the Blixxton add to the stage 3 kit I'm installing? I have one on the truck now. I just planned on moving it to another truck. I have two that it could go on.
  17. Does a Canadian camelback have a bigger spread than a normal American camelback? I'd like to see the Superliner.
  18. I was told my fuel mileage would increase as a result of not needing to stand on the throttle so long. Paul at RFI told me that what I'm adding to my 400 was mild. He said the same engine as mine was commonly turned up way more. I'm confident in what I'm doing here. I can always go back to my stock parts.
  19. I drive this truck myself. I am a heavy haul contractor. I am routinely 120,000 to 145,000 pounds. There is one thing that will get you up a hill at that weight, power. I have a bunch of gauges that all need to be watched, not the least of which is the pyrometer. I watch it now, and I'll keep an eye on it after I install the stage 3 RFI kit. As for the theory that big power can only come from big displacement, look at Detroit. I've never seen more power, efficiency and longevity than we see in the cars made today. They make more steam with less inches than ever before. And the cars run more miles than ever before. This may turn out to be a bad thing for my truck, but I'm giving it a try. - Tom
  20. I am installing injectors and turbo on Saturday. I wish I could dyno before and after.
  21. I just bought a stage 3 kit from Rochester Fuel Injection for my E7 400. They say I'll see a 30 to 40 percent increase with it. I don't know for sure if they have a kit for your 350, but it's worth a call.
