  1. Another Mack DM819SX for sale advertised in the truck paper. Mack V8 engine, eight speed transmission advertised, but it looks like there is another shifter in the cab pic. Located in Pittston, PA. http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/7047501/1970-mack-dm819sx
  2. DM819 is actually a good deal when you consider how much money that has been spent on it. I wish I had the cash.
  3. Maddog, Some people I have run into would rather let a truck or piece of equipment rot into the ground than let it go for anything less than what they want. The problem is they are doing both themselves and the equipment a disservice. I fully understand the effort of trying to get as much as you can out of the truck, but letting it go to scrap is a waste of a unit that can be, at the very least, used for parts. Add to that, the fellow you mention, sold it for 800.oo which is was only to his own detriment. With internet and sites like BMT, there is no reason why people can't do a little homework and get a ballpark idea what their old truck is worth. Job41
  4. I have a number of questions. What does it have for a motor? Which transmission does it have? Also some folks may get offended if you start out with too low an offer. Tricky business those negotiations can be. It is only worth what the market is willing to pay for it. Job41
  5. I was in error, I was thinking that it was a one day auction. But I did learn a few things in this thread.
  6. Joe D. OK, I'll agree the 1500 dollar B model is probably over, especially when it is on an auction site like ee-Bay. So how would you answer jasperdog's question? Where would you start?
  7. With an auction, you can always bid higher. But you can't go the other way and offer less once your bid is out there. Secondly. 1500 is what I would start with the hope that I end at my target. I would hope to end up somewhere around the 5500 to 7000 mark, if I were in a position to purchase it.
  8. Are you referring to the bid amount when you ask where to start? Ebay is not face to face nor personal, so I would start very low. Open with $1500.00 and don't worry about insulting the seller. Years ago you could have bought the old girl for $500.00. Like many other collectibles the prices have only gone up, especially old Mack trucks!
  9. Nice restorable B61 for auction on the 13th. No connection. She has been repowered with a 237. However, I think a BMT member should own this. A little on the high side in terms of price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-MACK-B61-/181983571300?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a5f10ed64:g:oywAAOSwFqJWjXKj&item=181983571300
  10. Bullhusk, That is fascinating that a book about the book of Job played such a huge part in your salvation. Praise to Jesus Christ! Job is probably my favorite of the Old testament books. It was also one I read long before I came to Christ. It rattled around in my brain for years and was influential in my thinking. The book answers numerous questions we might have in our lives. But one statement Job makes which I think should be repeated here is this: " I know my redeemer lives and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has thus been destroyed yet in my flesh I shall see God." ESV. Again to all BMT members Merry Christmas and may the new year bring about a revival in our great nation. Job41
  11. Seven hundred plus years BC, Isaiah wrote; " For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Gather, Prince of Peace...." Is 9:6 Is 53:9-11 " He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the Lord's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring prolong his days and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied ; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Just consider why we celebrate his birth. Then consider what your relationship is to him. I love old Mack trucks and bunch of other classic American Iron. But after I am gone and that old equipment has rusted to a pile of dust, the most important love I have is for my God and my fellow man. Merry Christmas, Job41

  13. A Mack B81 has a high degree of Macho factor whether it is a Single or a Tandem. If they could talk they would say "move out of my way little girly trucks." Yes, I realize there where bigger Macks such as the prime movers, like the MX70SX, but they just don't have the same class as a B81!
  14. Remember the commercials for that healthy vegetable drink. They always said " I should've had a V8!"
  15. She would make a good all-around tractor for someone who does short haul work. The E6-300 has to rank as one of the most reliable engines ever built!
  16. The truck definitely has potential for the guy who wants to put some elbow grease into it. What does it have for a transmission?
  17. To quote the illustrious Darth Vader saying to Luke Skywalker " You don't know the power of the dark side!"
  18. The following were taken from the Merriam-Webster dictionary on line. Communism: a way of organizing a society in which the government owns the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) and there is no privately owned property Socialism:a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies, or another definition; a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done. The problem is that both are run by people referred to as Statists. Neither system has brought about any great success. The first pilgrims in Plymouth Massachusetts tried it and found themselves starving. When they gave each family their own plot of land and told them that they could keep the fruits of their labors, then the pilgrims started having huge success. So they sowed the seeds for our country where freedom and liberty became one of our principles. Statists use overbearing government regulation to slowly and incrementally take that freedom, liberty and dare I say private property away. Now we are starting to see the results of that. Job-41
  19. BM546056, I hope you save that thing from the scrap yard. It is a shame that they scrapped out the trailer. Somebody could take that thing to a truck show and haul three or four B models behind it. The tough part is a matter of getting the permits. Job41
  20. Has the engine ever been rebuilt?
  21. I would not be ashamed to own it! But then, I am known to drive some really rough clunkers.
  22. I don't know about out working a new one but she would do her job daily with much more reliability. You can count on one of those old bulldogs and you don't have to pull off to the side of the road and wait for it to go through it emissions cycles. What a novel idea, build a truck that is just plain tough and reliable!
  23. Wow! That is a beautiful set of trucks you posted pictures of. Although I am not a big fan of putting a B model cab on a one ton chassis. However, I do like a B model cab and Chassis with a overgrown pickup body put on the back.
  24. I'd like to know how Mr Hancock finds all these rare trucks to post pictures of.
