  1. could be. it has been over 30 years since i used soda blasting, and don't remember much other than it is a lot less abrasive than sand, so does not build up as much heat for less panel distortion. there was also a guy that was doing dry ice blasting. that worked real good, but was expensive. it also left no residue except for the paint dust it blew off
  2. i never had any issue with it. they would blast in the sand blasting pit out behind the shop. than blow out and wipe down everything before the guys pulled it back up the hill and into the paint booth to prime to prevent surface rust. then it would go into the body shop for repair.
  3. my opinion is if god wanted the leaves picked up and put out to trash, he would make then fall in the bags and bins at the curb. back in the 60's we had perfect green lawns without any chemicals or fertilizers applied, because we let the leaves fall where they did and rot. now people pick them up before they can deteriorate and spend a small fortune trying to grow grass.
  4. baking soda as a medium instead of sand. it is called "soda blasting"

  6. We had a 65 or 66 diamond reo with 350 cummins and 13 speed for lowboy. But it had Itty bitty rears and was constantly snapping through shafts. Plus it was rode hard and put away wet every day for the 15years before I got into it and the cab was held together with bubble gum and bailing wire.
  7. i used to use a guy that used baking soda. worked great. another shop i did a lot of work with used dustless blasting. it was a liquid based product.
  8. early 79 i was still driving the 49 international L190. then i bought a not running 73 gran prix for $250 did a tuneup on it and it ran perfect. bought the F350 in december.
  9. tired me out too!! 🤣 yup, hood was down. i am thinking a buildup of gas in the battery, and bad negative cable connection. when i called for power the negative connection sparked and BOOM. today changed battery and bound the bad connection. loaded two loads of garbage, and another 1000 lbs or so of scrap iron. waiting for a ride to take two trucks to the big truck yard, then bring the dump and trailer home to get rid of the machine.
  10. antique hat for driving a truck, or hat for driving an antique truck?
  11. is the sander working better letting the spray glue tack up before applying the disc?
  12. took a short nap, and went back outside to inspect the 02 diesel F350 for where the power steering leaks are. found 3 bad lines. and got the positive battery terminal off the post on the exploded battery. then decided enough was enough and came inside, sat down, and took my boots off. having a chicken sammich, and will probably take another nap before bedtime.
  13. i had enough energy today to put the falcon in the garage, clean up all the doors, hoods, and trunk lids, put the big diesel generator in back of the 88 F350, put the miller gas driven welder in back of the F350, take the gantry crane apart to weld the legs, and get rid of the dump truck and trailer. i still have the skid steer and attachments here cause tomorrow is another day. but i ran out of steam.
  14. no old pictures of the 79 F350 4X4... no new ones either... but i bought it 6 months old, and still have it.
  15. good deal!! too bad i have too many projects already.
  16. you have to spray ,then let it dry to a tacky texture before applying the sanding disc.

  21. on the 05 granite it was an air pressure regulator feed line leaking. replaced the line and the next day the compressor threw a rod through the side dumping 3 gallons of oil out before i noticed the oil leak.
  22. sorry for your loss. as Paul said, that is an R model. they were made from 1966 to early 90's with around 360,000 being made over that span. here is one http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/Ragman517/2008 July-Dec/100_1983.jpg
  23. when they say "billionaires" they are not talking about them selves. they are talking about all the normal middle class "billionaires". you know, the ones that are living paycheck to paycheck trying to feed their families and keep enough gas in the family car to get to work and back.
