  1. run the first 5, shift to high and go back to first. if it goes in, it is a 10 speed. if it grinds it is a 9
  2. agreed. that truck was definitely loved by someone for a long long time!!!
  3. yup. back then you could buy little one time use ether capsules. open the cap, drop the capsule in, and pop the cap closed. this would rupture the capsule allowing the ether to enter the air box for starting assistance.
  4. it has been a while for sure. but if i remember correctly the publicity pretty much ruined his business name and he retired to a new place up in sussex county far away from the rat race of the nu yawk area.
  5. Mike, the last time Steve logged on was Dec 2017.
  6. this whole thing would have been a non issue if you had not brought it up in the first place. i am pretty sure everyone else followed me in forgetting all about it two-three weeks after it all went down
  7. you are threatening to sue a website for directly quoting something that was news 11 years ago??? GET A LIFE!!!
  8. cause politicians smell worse then hogs
  9. i would not put money on that. a friend has a F750 with the 6.7 and a 3500 gallon oil recovery tank. it is a runner, both empty or loaded.
  10. not sure about down there in ausieland, but here in the northeast, that much ivy can grow in less than one year. i have seen two story houses go from ivy only on the ground at foundation to completely covered in three years.
  11. Dave, i put a Daikin 30,000 BTU pump outside, 2 9,000 BTU wall units downstairs(one front of the house and one rear) and a 12,000 BTU wall unit upstairs to replace the window unit ac units that were 15k downstairs and 10k upstairs. first month saw power consumption cut in half, and it has staid that way for the past 5 years.. because of allergies, i pretty much need to run the ac year round. this was the best investment i ever made. and recommend installing ductless to everyone that asks. i use the heat sparingly because i have baseboard hot water heat. i oversized the unit just like i did with the boiler, it makes it much more efficient.
  12. ^^^this.^^^ most do not work properly because they are not big enough for the intended space.
  13. i put in ductless ac/heat 4 years ago. cut electric bill in half from 98 per month to 52 per month. but i do not use the heat pump that much since i have gas baseboard heat. the only downside to the ductless id initial cost. my 30,000 BTU system was $6000 so ti will have paid for itself in electric savings in another 5 years. heat is a warm air instead of hot air. fan blows all the time, but you do not notice it. on heat it will raise temp of a 20X20 room from 65 degrees to 75 degrees in about 10 minutes.
  14. tarped, in the road, and nothing on the ground behind the truck. the box was down on the frame when it broke. my bet is he was driving and hit a bump and it broke from way too many overloaded runs.
  15. no, unfortunately i have not. i don't see why it would not work though.
  16. i will second the pertronix, i have used them for points conversions for close to 40 years. some units are still performing perfectly in 534 ford engines with over 1 million miles run time.
  17. wow........sweet looking rig.. i wonder what the specs are?
  18. not true. they did pay the money back.... they took the money from the second bail out, paid off the first bail out, then claimed bankruptcy. so in effect they DID pay pay the bail out back...................they just did not say which one.
  19. it is ok to run over snowflakes, but you must have either studded tires, or chains on the tires for proper traction.
  20. just saw this thread. cut my teeth in a loader with a 65 988...back in 74. then moved up to a 69 966 in 79. then to a 80 980 in 86. then in 88 we got a brand new 966. i slipped on the sand i swept out of the cab when it had 11 hours on it and fell off the machine, with my left leg going between the ladder and tank, almost ripping my leg off as i went down. i now stick to small machines like the 272 or 299 skid steers, much easier to climb into.
  21. it is a metered delivery truck. can mix what you need on the job. from 1 wheelbarrow full, to the whole truck load.
  22. no idea, i have not been up that way in about 5 years. google search shows nothing for A-N-D, but does show A&D in Little falls. they run petercars. https://adtowingservicenj.com
  23. up until a few years ago they were almost all still in service too. Rt#17 north in Teterboro near the airport.
  24. probably because you drive it like you own it, and they drive it like they stole it.
  25. actually, Mad Max did drive a B model. well sorta. in the third movie they used a B model to escape bartertown on rail tracks.
