  1. There were 2 up here. One is either still at the scrapyard it went to or cut up. The other one is on display at a towing company. It's not really operable , but it has a home made wrecker on it.
  2. It's my understanding those twin steers were made exclusively for that guy.
  3. Yes. I'm actually talking to the owner now
  4. One of those Autocars is here by me. One got scrapped not too long ago.
  5. They were ok if you pulled a dry van on blacktop or something like that. They were from back in the time before air ride was the norm. So I'd have to agree with you.
  6. Scary part is there's people who listen to and believe this crackpot.....who married her brother. The epitome of how imigration is supposed to work.
  7. I believe that's what's Mack called "taper leaf" . Then depending where you live, some guys called them underslung. That looks like a pretty nice R Model. That suspension might not be the most desireable , but I'm not sure I'd pass on it because of it.
  8. That's some raw Chevrolet power right there. Simple really was better in so many ways.
  9. That's the first time I've ever heard that. It's an interesting thing. Not that I researched it or went out of my way to see it, but I had seen a few things about the pregnant flight suits. The idiots advocating for that nonsense never said a peep about any of that. This is one of Lord knows how many examples of the lunacy that was going on.......but DON'T tell anybody.
  10. And here I was thinking that the flight suits for pregnant (persons) was all BS. Is it me . or have so many of these events been the story line from episodes of Law & Order ?
  11. I remember seeing these up around Danbury/Waterbury area on Route 84 back in the late '80s .
  12. Not too often you see a guy rebuilding a Triplex. Fancy or not, we'll take it please.
  13. Mack had the strata tube with the scoop on the hood .
  14. Brocky, the Spencer he's associated with is big into Kenworth from in the '80s or '90s along with other models. There's some really nice trucks involved with them. You'd appreciate seeing any of them, but I don't ever remember seeing anything Mack. That RW fits in there, and I'm kinda hoping there'll be more.
  15. 😏 that might require it's own thread so we could examine the details wink wink
  16. Bob 😠 you stop that poor chuck came up with a new buzz word recently saying people are "aroused" and he's a man not afraid to talk about erections. And don't forget about those dramatic clenched fists during his speeches. On top of all this, he probably has seperation anxiety from nancy.
  17. Lot more ways to skin the cat back then. Now ? 8LL 10 13 or 18 and they all got one foot in the grave and the other on a bananna peel.
  18. You could get a 15 in a direct or overdrive. The overdrive version had a much higher lowest gear than a direct 15. I would have to agree, in a truck made to go down the highway, an RTO 13 was better suited to a Cummins of that period. Fifteen was friendlier to different set ups. Like 10s and 15s of that time really worked on Cats. I can speak from experience, a 15 over behind a Maxidyne with a 4.17 axle....pretty sweet. Little less than ideal for crawl'n around , but on the blacktop it works better than comes to mind with a Maxidyne. Larry already has 4.10s in the truck. That's why I mentioned it. His Triplex with 4.10s ??? it'll be pretty much like having an RTO 13 speed if he does away with the 4 way.
  19. It's easy to forget. Back then trucks had lot slower axles. Like a truck with a 15 over might have had a 4.6 axle and usually you didn't use deep reduction as often as when axles got faster and around the time they became the norm, the knobs with the blue button were around and it was simple to start out in deep reduction.
  20. A 15 over is a highway transmission. Couple lower than a ten, and at the time a realistic overgear to make in a lever shift. If you were geared between 3.5 and 4.3 usually 1 2 3 and four in deep reduction, you could go to 4th in regular low range. A direct 15 was quite a bit lower than an RTO 13 and made sense if you had a faster geared truck back then.
  21. Lots of overgear in that transmission
  22. No doubt. I think it's cool seeing some of these upgrades and referbs guys are doing now. Lots of them have been done in the past, but now things that are available that didn't exist years back ??? new twist on things. I think it's interesting.
  23. 300 4.17s and a 15 over ??? they work. Lug'n mid 70 some thousand pounds.... they work. 15 has more overgear than an old RTO 13 and in direct with 4.10s still would go in the low 60s.
  24. Still easy to get stuff now to get fresh air to the tip fan without the Mack air cleaner. Duct it from somewhere that was never thought about years ago without spending days making stuff.
