i watched a youtube vid where they made a cheap air conditioner out of a small cooler,cut a hole in the top of the lid and put a fan on it blowing in one side,on the other side of lid they put a pvc 90 degree elbow blowing air out and filled it with ice,simple and effective way to make cold air

has anyone used the mystic JT 7 gear oil yet?

in the roadranger repair manual it recommends 50wt for extreme cold climates,85/140 is a bit too thick here for the winter,they did mention that the EP additives cause seal issues if the oil gets over 250 degrees,not an issue with mine,im already experiencing issues with the hi/lo syncro and slight delay going into hi,i listen for the clunk before going back on the throttle and i does good,sometimes i press the clutch to make sure that theres no preload on the gears when going into hi range which also helps, -
on alot of other transmissions with many hard miles ive seen the stack shims wear causing excessive clearance between the gears which will cause it to jump out of gear also,,most transmissions call for 005 to 011 clearance at the end of the gear stacks on the shaft,

im also installing A/c on my superliner using a compressor bracket from an RD that i modified to work on the left side of a NTC Cummins for the York compressor,a condensor from a 379 Pete shortened 6 inches to clear the crossbar on the hood,some butcher removed everything except the inside unit under the dash and cut the hoses,

on my 85 rws 713 left side of the motor is this device,its got oil and airlines going into it,the truck is originally from the northwest,Oregon,Washington area,it had Canadian DOT #s,everyone who knows cummins that i show it to has never seen this before,does anyone know what its for?[attachment=

going to change out the gear oils soon and wanted to hear some feedback,ive got the 13 speed road ranger and live in Ga and was going to use 89w / 90 EP

theres an RD wiring diagram on this site,ive used it to fix my truck,look under the cab,drivers side near the foot valve,should be another brake switch there,

ive got a similar motor in my 85 superliner,mines a NTC 475 twin turbo,

you wont like air ride,,camel is the way to go here,you can attempt to replace the bad spring but its just better to replace all,web search parts from junkyards for saving money,,

really nice,tuff old mack,actually more productive than the new ones when you take into account time spent listening to service writers attempting to blow smoke at the customer about regen issues they cant fix, -

really nice old cabover,i drove my dumptruck from sedro willie Washington to outside of Atlanta in mid may,and it was still tricky with the weather esp. in montana,good luck with it,, -
thats how my 85 superliner with the 13 spd road ranger is set up,mine is a 3 stage jake,i leave it on low to shift,when its on high and i need to shift i lightly touch the clutch pedal to keep it open circuited,the E motors are set up different and you can leave them on and it wont activate when your off the pedals,

the jap trucks use exhaust pipe brakes,work pretty good

have you considered putting an exhaust brake on it?i found a good source for info on the jacobs site on how to diagnose and adj their brake assys if it helps,,
