  1. thats a good pulling motor, the ones ive drove i had turned up a bit to give more power, not much different than the 460,
  2. weird how dirt is getting in?but it sounds like the compressor is bad,id check the air filter system to make sure its sealed good after the filter element
  3. the RD is the best for dumptruckin,,extra springs on front, pull hooks front/rear,hypoid gears in the difs and relatively trouble free electrical system
  4. just bought an 85 RWS 762 with the mythic 475 twin turbo NTC cummins,13 speed
  5. theres always hope for the hopeless,,
  6. does anyone know where i can find parts for the horn button in the large RWS 713 steering wheel?i need to pull the wheel to see if the contact ring is there but im needing everything under the emblem,it looks like it fastens with 3 screws to the wheel, the mack dealer was useless,
  7. you would think trash hauler that they would put a trap door between the seats to get at that area,,
  8. i bought an 85 713 RWS and the compressor, bracket is missing, going to fab a different condenser to the front of radiator and hopefully find a later style compressor from an international that uses the same motor [NTC CUMMINS] and same belt groove,,everything else is there, will have the hoses made up also
  9. alot of variables figure in such as temp, humidity, altitude etc, etc, what i always do is watch the guages,,35 on the low side, not over 175/180 on the high side
  10. one of the RDs where i work had a bad vibration, kept telling the owner about it,nothing got done till the rear yoke on the trans finally wiped the speed sensor out thats when they found the nut holding it loose, tighted it up and the vibration under load and at speed went away, another older RD had a very bad vibration that we couldnt find till it finally broke the rear drive shaft universal between the diffs, replaced the yoke on rear diff and the joints and 98% of the vibration went away, mack should be ashamed of themselves turning out new trucks with the issues you talk about on here and no one knows what the problem is
  11. found a helpful PDF at jacobsviehiclesystems.com with tech info and diagnostics
  12. thanks guys, found the relay searching out why the brake lights stayed on all the time, the jake relay was plugged in where the brake realy goes,,im going to go back through the wires and label them for their color and also re do the wiring on the motor to correct it,,
  13. i bought this superliner and love it and have fixed most of the electrical issues with it except for the jake switches, apparently when the assessory relay went bad the previous owner re wired alot of stuff to get things working again, the jake was wired directly from the hot on top of the strip on the drivers side fire wall through the throttle switch, then to the solenoids,it was also wired into the toggle switch for on/off and the existing wiring is still there behind the panel and the diagram for the RD on here is close but only shows hi/low and the colors are different,,if someone has it or knows the link where i can pull it off the net id appreciate it,,
  14. went across the same river 3 weeks ago at night in my 85 superliner, brought it out of sedro wooly washington to atlanta, only paid montana to cross their state, after that i went around all scales
  15. could be belts,my RD was doing the same thing
  16. yup,the ford relay lasted a day,49 bucks at the mack dealer and i got the correct one,now to undo all the wiring work arounds the last owner did to it,got most of it back to original except for the 3 stage jake brake wiring, this should be a challenge,,
  17. found the problem, assesory relay under the dash section where you normally mount cb radio theres a heavy duty relay that looks like the old ford start relay,it powers up the upper buss that supplies power to the guages, lights and buzzers, going to replace it with a new ford starter relay
  18. also check richie brothers auctions, they have alot of older macks from time to time, also look at truckpaper.com,,thousands of trucks listed
