  1. thanks for the info about the exaust brake. I have been told that that can cause some engine troubles in the top end if not careful, although Mack did offer the "Stealth Brake " back in the 90s, but I havnt found much about it. Iv been told the jake on the mechanical e7s is a turd no matter what unless u change out the oil pump to a high flow unit, which I think requires removing the compressor and changing the oil pump drive gear, and that is a nightmare. if u think of anything let me know,

I run a 96 rd log truck 350 e7 with jacobson engine brake, I hav never had a mechanical mack with jakes. we have 8 macks in our fleet and the only 2 that have jakes are the cl with cummins isx (junk engine) and the 04 granite with e7 427, the granite works awesome even with 800k on original engine, whats up with the mechanical e7 jakes?? useless!!!!! my question is, can u put jakes from an etech e7 on an older mechanical e7, if so is there any mods or has enyone done it. I haul over 90 k evry day and is scares the crap out of me without jakes, thankfully I hav a proper 13 speed trans to shift. any help is great thanks ps. tech brake no longer makes jakes for old macks
  3. have a 96 rd log truck with loader on back end of frame , frame is shot around the trunion and spreadind along its whole length, my question is should i bite the bullet and re frame it or i had an idea that we have done in the past for fish plating, we use 3/4 inch t1 steel plare and plate the area around the trunion, but what if i had a peice cut 24 feet long and had a friend cut all the necessary holes with laser and plate both sides of the truck from cab back??? will it be to stiff? whats the negatives?? thanks
  4. need a long set of frame rails for a 82 rd with or with out rears anyone got anything that would work?? need to reframe or cut and splice my log truck and dont want to get a new frame or spend that kind of money also the trunion bushing is whooped so rears would be a easy swap to or just rebush mine for 2 grand thanks Jason 216 347 0933
  5. its definetely locked up , mack dealer said this is common when its cold as hell out and u install a new one??? said to drive it a week and c if it frees up some, but this thing was squeeling the belts it was so stiff> tightened belts a bit and gonna drive for a while noisey as hell though and cant b good for the fuel economy never had this on any other truck, guy at mack said those viscouse cluthes are junk right out of the box so i might be swappin it again in a week thanks for any help Jason
  6. changed the fan clutch twice now with brand new from mack still locked up any ideas??? its a viscouse clutch on a 94 rd e7 350 mechanical is there a senser somewhere?? if so how does the clutch get a signal without a wire or airline?? got me puzzeled anyone heard of this both clutches were brand new also changed waterpump during first go around no prob yet, used special mack bolts too. thanks Jason
  7. dunno its a 1990 613 4 valve, its a project truck just tryn to get her together, really need that top grill bezel job but aint gonna give 850 to watts 4 it, thats crazy money, only got 2600 in the truck she runs good and dont look half bad exept the bumper and grill top
  8. need the top chrome piece for my superliner grill, mine is all dented up can the dealer get me 1 or is that a bone yard part? also a front chrome bumper would be nice as mine is ruined
  9. just joines site today, anyone have any suggestions for finding a used frame and rears for a 82 rd? double frame rotted and swolen beyond repair and bad bogiies (ie tires rubbing frame when turning) from the cab forward is a great clean truck 400 mack 12 speed, nice cab front frame, also anybody know if the engine and trans and cab will slide into a 85 dm if the rd is not worth fixing?
