  1. T model Ford was probably abad example now I think about it Horse and cart maybe And as you can tell I definitely wasn't telling lies when I said that I had never driven a model T Paul
  2. I hope you have ear plugs and no loose fillings in your teeth lol Wont be able to sneak up on anyone in that wild machine Should be interesting when done Paul
  3. If we are honest, truck drivers today would struggle with anything more than a Roadranger, thats not knocking todays drivers in anyway, it's just industry standard today and even Roadrangers are slowly fading in place of semi automatic and full automatic transmissions Most of us would struggle just driving a T model Ford with it's three pedal transmission, or at least I think thats what it has 😐 😒, dunno as I have never driven a T model so dont know for sure Paul
  4. So if I'm reading this correctly, this truck is 1987 model and the box mentioned above is very early gear box Would this early gear box even of been available in 1987 ? To me 1987 is just yesterday and yes I do realise it is 34 years ago but very early Maxitorque transmission to me would be early 70's Paul
  5. Dunno, you know as much as I do, but yes has a RoadRanger for sure Most truck drivers even the 80s wouldn't of been to successful driving twin sticks so just to keep it practical and for parts like most Macks the quad box would of been removed Paul
  6. Do you have all the remnant parts, maybe if you take some photos of the part numbers stamped on them someone on here can find whats going with the original box, as in what it actually is or modified to be if that makes any sense Count up the teeth on the gears and see what they are and then we can work the ratios out from that Paul
  7. Okay then Well the maths doesn't match the information, so if it was mine and its not so probably disregard Its time start sorting the fact from the fiction Correct me when Im wrong, you have two transmissions plated the same and looking the same on the out side ? What I would do is try to find out exactly whats going on and take all the guess work out of this The transmission thats out and sitting on the floor I would put it in each gear and count revolutions of the input shaft to do one output shaft turn This will give you a really good indication of whats i your original box The one in the truck is a little trickier, jack up the ass end and with the help of couple of people, one underneath counting the tail shaft and one counting the motor turns on the harmonic balancer and the last joker sitting in the cab turn the key Mark the tail shaft and the balancer with a paint pen and do the same, wind it over until the tail shaft has done on turn and count the revolutions ojf the motor This will give a really good indication of whats going on as all any of us are doing is guessing at the moment Paul
  8. Well at least thats what this bloke Des reckons, kinda gotta agree with him Paul
  9. Dunno if thats such a big deal, I would be just thankful you could get them, hopefully they are made local but if not and even if its a bit flimsy its a heck of a lot better than a gaping hole surrounded by rust Paul
  10. Are you sure your speed is different, as in have you had someone following you down the road or used a GPS The reason I ask is no matter which overdrive Maxitorque Mack made I dont think you will get the speed increase your saying I wonder if the gears that drive the speedo are different as the diff ratios might well be different in the truck you got the gearbox from compared to yours Did you change the speedo gears when you changed the transmission ? Paul
  11. No backing plates on the brakes, not a big drama as most people chuck them out Looks really impressive Paul
  12. Assuming its a air ride cab, you can stick a jack and piece if wood etc under the back of the cab and lift it right up to full travel and you may get another couple of inches to work in to access the air lines Paul
  13. My 20 cents worth if I may If you dont have a pocket full of coin then just cut out the rust and weld bits snd pieces in here and there Try to do only a patch or two and make the patches a lot bigger the hole your trying to cover Do not over lap stuff to weld it, it might be easier but it will only trap moisture and rust out quicker than before Butt welding with 0.6 mm or 24 guage (according to Mr Google) take your time and you'll be surprised at just how good a job you can do with out spending bugger all Also if your gunna weld, folg the ton foil from the cooks kitchen draw and wrap your airlines as best as you can as these melt thru with splatter from the MIG, quick as look at you Good luck and keep us posted Try a truck wreckers for cuts from a floor to make the patch for yours, gunna get a lot of bits for 2 1/2 grand Paul
  14. Another Australian truck movie but sort of the reverse of Duel is "Road Games" Fast benz chasing a van across Australia Has some once big time Yanky actors in it Paul
  15. Another Australian movie with Mack is "The Blue Lighting" Dont bother racing a plane against a Mack, you'll have to watch it Seeyah Paul
  16. Im gunna be waiting for the pictures and video lol Great to get a result Paul
  17. Yes it doesn't matter what anyones political persuasion is or if they love or hat Alec Baldwin, end of the day he pulled the trigger so the buck must stop with him Even if he was given a supposedly empty gun or not makes no difference, he pulled the trigger Paul
  18. Something to remember is that even if everything else is working as it should and the air vent hose is still blocked you will have the same problem if that is the issue Paul
  19. McGrath is or should I say was an Australian brand of trailer, very well regarded in the transport industry and still a lot running alobg the hwys even though it's well over 30 years since they made them Heres a tale of one of mine Paul
  20. The first F model looks fantastic with that paint job Paul
  21. Your certainly heading in the right direction and doubt there is much wrong with the pump Is it linkage back to the accelerator pedal or cable, any I have worked in Australia are linkage but have no idea about the U.S. I have had mine stick wide open but I reckon you would be all over a sticking linkage Good luck and keep us posted Lucky to have some history in the old photo Paul
  22. I nearly ran off the road coming home last night when I heard that on the radio Im in complete shock and still dont know if its real or I miss heard, I hope for all involved that I miss heard but feel thats pretty unlikely Sad news for all involved Paul
  23. Seems that just every part of the bodies is available as a rust repair part, honestly at these prices I would just have a go at fixing the cab https://shop.broncograveyard.com/mobile/Truck-87-91/products/187/2/0 Paul
  24. If you know the history you would be the best judge, if it has 14000 its been around the clock It would of most likely of been rebuilt already Paul
