  1. found this in the old picture vaults I have...
  2. Is this good news for Mack?
  3. its in good hands!. Looking good Ray
  4. I can't remember the last time I saw a u model tractor running around here. Plenty of DM roll offs though
  5. Im currently driving a 378 Pete on air ride. When I pull the lowboy on air ride it's a smooth ride When I pull a 35' wrecking trailer on springs it bucks a little. When I pull a 24' end dump on springs it's like bob tailing on camelback. Air ride trailers make a huge difference in how smooth the tractor rides. The air ride simply takes the bucking out. I drove a r model that had the 3 leaf rear springs and a air ride end dump and it was a very smooth ride. No bucking at all.
  6. Is Carry transit still around. About 10 years ago I think they were some how tied into or racing in the Champ car / Indy car series under the name sigma racing? I think they had a shop down on the south west side (bridgeview) that I would often bring race cars/ parts to. I remember going there and at that time they had a bunch of CH macks used for hauling tanker or bulk tanker...I think the early truck they used to haul the cars to the tracks was a CH mack as I recall it only had two 50 gallon fuel tanks. Not good for OTR trucking... they had to stop in just about every state for fuel.
  7. Larry you have a 237... Glen will the water pump ,pullys etc...off his 673 swap over to the maxidyne ?
  8. The 350s needed more than 5 gears to keep them in the power band. I think minimum was a 7 speed. You could however have the pump set to a maxidyne 300 spec and it would be fine.
  9. is it my eyes or did they also stretch the hood on the V12 Mack? I can see they have some electric fans mounted to it. I suspect that V12 cat is really stuffed in there and they needed all the room they could get. Thanks for sharing
  10. Larry why not put a 300 with a 5 or 6 speed direct? You can still find those 6 speeds laying around for cheep. What is your current rear end ratio? If its in the 3.xx you will have a 70 mph truck with a strong engine and trans... Regardless I think the triplex will be fine with a light load for all your hiway driving you do. It's the heavy off road lugging that people were more worried about with the maxi / 72 series transmissions. I think you will need a different clutch linkage as the B and R models differed. One is a push style the other is a pull style. Also the pullys up front on the engine stick out farther on the maxidyne vs a thurmodyne. Regarding the eBay link "300"..... It looks like a early 237 or older 673. Just looking that it's not inter cooled. The pipe off the turbo goes directly into the intake. The 285 HP were side mount charge cooled and 300 were front mount inter cooled..
  11. Crack the injector lines open and see if it is spitting fuel.. That will tell you if it's pumping.
  12. Drove a few R models with that style pump. 2nd or 3rd was what I used depending how heavy a load was in the box. I prefer the rear mount Mack PTO tho...
  13. Looks normal to me.....
  14. Look for simple things first ... Replace fuel filter, check that the throttle lever has not slipped around the pump shaft, make sure it has full travel...if that's good check for good boost pressure. inspect turbo for broken fins. After that you will need to start looking at the pump and compression levels...
  15. Thinking you will need good tow hooks if you go this way. Never seen a good tandem rear on/off road truck with a dead axle.
  16. If they are anything like the cat trucks here in IL they will spend more time in he shop than on the road?
  17. Yeah high hoods only give you 1/2 the view when inside... However They are nice to see these days rolling by as all the modern locomotives just look the same. I saw the E5 was out of the shed wonder why it was parked?
  18. Yea if I know you had some pull with getting in the locomotive cab I would have been there with ya... LOL.... Truck was looking good. We only stayed for a little over an hour this year. We took our 65' Cadillac to the show as we stayed by some friends in Crystal lake last night. Went in had lunch, stopped over by the trucks to see some friends real quick. Got a quick look at the Frisco then went home for a nice Sunday afternoon nap. What a great Day!
  19. Saw your truck at IRM this afternoon. Looking good.
  20. Is that basically what we have in the US known as the Titan? Nice looking truck.
  21. I remember seeing a N model Volvo running around northern IL. Was a tractor hauling a end dump. That thing was always holding up traffic. Seams a lot of bean counters like the Volvo brand. I was working for my former employer last week at a race track. Seams. 70% of the race haulers were late model Volvo sleeper cabs. Very few American made trucks were in the paddock
  22. My previous employer had 2 1997 internationals with 3406e cats/18 speeds and 2 2002 c15 cats/18 speeds. Only major issue was one of the 1997 trucks needed a new cam at 400,000 miles. We did the cups as well while they were in there.
  23. Every state has its own laws, but many share the same rules, just written differently. What state are you in? We likely have a member here from your state than can give a better answers based on that.
