  1. I came across this, someone should be interested. http://providence.craigslist.org/hvo/4259696717.html FW
  2. I think you could rework a 1 for a 2, but not a 2 to fit a 1. FW
  3. From what I know, In the Fall of 1884 I went to the local Mack dealership (Morse Mack Sales and Service) to purchase a new RD Mack and they told me it would be more than 6 months to get anything from the factory (Renault involved at that time). I was able to get the truck I wanted from a New Hampshire dealer. Around the late 80's Morse became Ballard Mack, and I believe Ballard is owned by Morse and at one time owned a Chrysler/AMC dealership. I don't believe the lawsuit has any thing to do with the change in the dealership, except Morse sold the truck. FW
  4. Cat 950, at the local Mack service shop. Cat 931B (2013), 1981 machine, had since new. FW
  5. Cat 988A with new generation paint job, (2013) Cat 988A, (2013). A long service life from these machines, I think the last year of production for the "A" series was 1976. FW
  6. Always able to find donor machines for parts. FW
  7. One of my machines, Cat 988A, about 1990. Another Cat 988A, about 1990. FW
  8. Found a another picture. (1988) FW
  9. Cat 992, This machine was moved to a jobsite in MA ,1990 the cab was removed for clearance otherwise complete, appx. 140,000#. Cat 980 c1973. I remember the Ford N model when it was new in 1965, watched it go by on my paper route, I was 12. FW
  10. A local construction company had an R700 they painted for the Bicentennial and trying to locate a picture of it. Somehow I ended up with the air cleaner.
  11. I was in the local scrap/recycling yard few days ago, MH there minus engine, trans, front axle, the rest looked real good. Their policy once thru the gate nothing can leave, had the 3.86 drop ins I need. What a shame. FW
  12. I have seen this truck and for what it is it is very good. I know the owner/seller and I don't think he is on this site. In the late 60's early 70's these doing trailer dump work (100 -110k) out run anything even the 425 1693 cats. FW IMG_3204.MOV
  13. I went to the former Bridgewater Parts Distribution Center a few years ago, a massive building. It can be found on Google maps as well. US 22 S, N Gaston Ave., N Adamsville Rd. the helicopter pad is visible as shown in Montville's book. The business there now shows Baker and Taylor. I also went to the former Plainfield NJ factories and have been told recently one of the buildings has been razed. FW
  14. When in PA I have visited the former Mack Plants 4 and 5C, not sure where Plant 10 is but have some idea. Plants 4 and 5C are just about one mile apart. You can locate them with Google maps; Plant 4 .Allentown PA, between S 10th St., Harrison St., and S 8th St. Plant 5C, Allentown PA, between S 12th ST., W. Tioga St., and Mack Blvd. Jack Mack's grave is in the Fairview Cemetery , close to Plant 4. FW
  15. This one is probably the one Mel Clark from New Hampshire had many years ago. FW
  16. No longer available. FW
  17. Both good engines, but the fuel economy would make the decision for me. FW
  18. I had a similar situation a month ago, the filter screen on the pump needed to be cleaned. It is under the slotted plug. If not that a few injector plungers could be stuck. FW
  19. My 96, 5.8 and have 3 other gas jobs all with over 200k miles, 3 with 7.3's all over 330k miles, and 3 more donor trucks. Very dependable and trouble free trucks. FW
  20. This truck was acquired from the Government, and a local town set it up for a tanker, all work was done in house. Originally an USAF fuel truck, very low miles and was in new condition,CNT900, 903, 5+4 44k's. The truck sat loaded in the station and stands were placed in the rear to relieve the tires and springs. It was replaced with a new freightliner tank truck, I was interested in this truck but it had to be offered to a Government agency before available to the public. I don't know where it went, that was about 7 years ago. FW
  21. 8-11 gallons per hour. all Cat former models had fuel for a 12 hr. shift. the K series holds 180 gals. FW
