  1. "James, you're gonna get yourself drowned! I just don't think that thing's gonna float- get rid of it, ASAP!"
  2. I don't get it...what does that have to do with us?
  3. We used to block the 5th. wheel when we pulled long steel on steerable dollies. The front of the beam just sat on a bolster on the fifth wheel. We had the hi-tech equipment-a piece of wood across the frame under the back of the 5th. wheel, held in place by a rubber strap on each end.
  4. This is true-Lonely Wolf used to keep a tool box in the passenger side floor in his cabover Kenworth. When he tipped over on rt. 26 he said he wasn't hurt but that tool box "'bout beat me to death".
  5. Hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving Holiday. Thanksgiving picture of the week-
  6. It does look really good for it's age, and it certainly would look good behind your new B-67. Don't pay any attention to Joe- you know you NEED that trailer. Momma will understand. Can I have an R-model or two, a B-model, and your 3/4'' socket set since you won't be needing them anymore?
  7. I'll drive a Mack if Jeff Moore buys one. But, that's not likely slow as things are. I heard today we're not getting a safety bonus this year-they just didn't have it. And a pay cut may be next...so much for tires, and wheels, and food, shelter, and electricity.
  8. yeah, that was the common procedure-tighten the outside nut, then tighten it some more with the chisel, then bend the little lock tab down with the hammer. I've been through a clutch, radiator hose, turbo hose, and a fan belt in less than a week on that Pete.
  9. Absolutely! How else are you gonna hear who's fussing, fighting, arguing, and cussing. Sometimes people ask questions too, like "where'd you learn to drive, you #@%*ing idiot!!". I keep mine on all the time and once in a while actually hear some useful information.
  10. I found a top with a hose connected to it at the parts store that works on gallon jugs, so you can use a gallon jug like the little quart squirt bottles. Back in olden days when I was a youngster it was common to use a chisel to tighten and loosen those nuts, nobody had a socket that big then. I probably didn't do yours though, somebody else did that.
  11. I've got a Connex 3300HP now with an Astatic mike and Wilson 2000 antannae, but I always had good luck with the Cobras. Never had the backlit model or bluetooth enabled, but had a 25 and a 29 classic. I saw the 29 classics on sale at a truckstop somewhere a couple of weeks ago for $69.95. Spend that $20 to have it peaked and you've got a pretty good talking radio with not a lot of money invested. The 25 I had was actually the best talking radio I ever had, but I had a 150 watt linear on it. Never had a stock Cobra mike last very long though. ordred the Connex from here- they seem to have pretty good prices. http://cbradiosplus.com/
  12. aye!

  14. Great story!
  15. Any AK Steel (used to be Armco) plant is my least favorite place to load ever. The one in Butler, Pa. is no better, and the one in Ashland, Ky. is only slightly better. They suck to the highest level of sucktivity there is. Being an a-hole must be a requirement for working there. Hate to say it, but that's one company i'd like to see boarded up and rusting away, like the old Copperweld Steel mill in Warren, Ohio is now. I don't hate many things, but just mentioning AK Steel gets my bp up! By the way, what IS in your 'fridge?
  16. so that would explain why Rob always wears this suit every time he so much as thinks about getting another truck.
  17. I saw in one of my videos that they used to let the trans. warm up by putting the main in 2nd. gear and the aux. in neutral while the engine was warming up. And you should hide if you see Chuck coming- he's prepared for anything.
  18. You're lookin' good so far! I need a set of those clearance lights too, but it's that "lack of funds" thing.
  19. I probably used 80/90 too, I just said 85/90 because Herb did and I figured he knew what he was talking about, where I just fake it. I bought gallon jugs of it and a top with a hose so you could use them like a squirt bottle. And I happened to pass by Rob's house this week and snapped a picture-unfortunately it was too late to stop and say "howdy" cuz I had to be in Miami the next morning with that load of watermelons.
  20. mine was the same way, foamy, except it was low too. I pulled the drain plugs and refilled both boxes with new 85/90 gear oil, no problems since. I am gonna check my bellhousing bolts though, never thought of that before.
  21. Chuck Norris

  23. Ran up behind this trailer heading east on I-80 near Youngstown, Ohio Thursday. I was wondering why anybody would have one of those on the back of a trailer, and if it was a mushroom head or a saucer head. When I got closer I could tell it was neither, it was a Michael Jordan head. amazing what a little photoshopping will do...just painted out the ears- looks like something totally different.
  24. what a crock of Pelosi! I hate getting those Pelosi e-mails that say "forward to 10 people, or bad things will happen". I don't even know 10 people, so how am I supposed to pass this on to 10,000,000?...Pelosi!!!
