  1. Like done been stated pressure test the intake system in stead like some guys do by looking at it.Then also check the throdle linkage if its a manual pump for full throdle.
  2. I guess that would be the studs that have the cones in the axles also? The The stamp # in the banjo housing at the rear also tells the rating if you know how to read it.
  3. And after you make sure itr dont have a boost leak on the coller plumbing make sure that the hose from the intake to the air compressore is not leaking boost. The i would pull the exhaust and intake off of the turbo and look at both ends. Look at the exhaust wheel and make sure there is no tips bent of missing on the exhuast wheel.
  4. Does all three rear axles drive?
  5. The jake brake was made for a mack to shift going up a ramp. Cause thats all its good for.I use my ever day for shifting.
  6. One that i built or a freind built for me from a fuel management problem.
  7. In a groupe of say 50 drivers there is not more than maybe 5 guys that understand a mack engine trans or rear suppension like the campbell back ride.Good for alot of operations but a dump truck needs to be a mack. Most guys dont want to know nothen about them. Most guys want a pretty peterbilt cause their buddy has one and its so nice.My freind has a 6 axle dump truck and its got something wrong under it all the time. Some think air ride is the way to go but if its off road like we go campbell back does not tear up as bad.Use the neorprme pads on the springs and it will last longer.
  8. Sound like he just give one billion of chinas money way yesterday. Dont you know china is put out over that. I hope they invite him over there for a photo shoot.
  9. Is the 400 HP on the throdle or cruze only?Cat cummins and DD have choices.
  10. Dont know why Obama has not made a speech talking total credit for the drop in prices. 3.74 for diesel here all week. But i am sure Obama will take care of us.
  11. Rob i have seen those grease gun deals to years ago but ant seen one in 20 years. Dont try it on a elbo zert.
  12. That could be a F sleeper cause they did not have a side window and that could have been installed from a old timey sleeper. The side door looks like a F model side box
  13. What ever he gets its got to be a RTO something.
  14. For just alttle more money you can by cyl kits with new piston. It use to be that the labor it cost cleaning the old pistone would be more than the extrax cost of buying cyl kits instead of liner kits plus rings.
  15. A main brg cap.Look at it and question your self first do you want to do this along. May be better if you get some one to help you the first time.
  16. Remove and send to fuel shop for a repair. Me and most of us can not repair fuel pumps.
  17. I was afraid the tomatos would taste like rubber so i throwed them in a brush fire and burnt the tires off. She has them lined up down the drive way with plants in them.
  18. On a mack rod it is easy to burn the thrust side of the crank and rod if not done right. I aways snug up the rod bolts and then tap with a hammer the rod to one side withe cap and then you have all that is possible. Its best to replace the rod bolts on the later engines but the older rods i have not seen any problems with the bolts.
  19. Like been stated 150lbs but if you dont know make sure to get the rod cap and rod pushed over to one side before tighten so you end up with .007 or more side end play in the rod and cap against the crank.
  20. Some one on the news today said he is going to get to be with his 72 virgin boys soon.
  21. Rob the few 149 DD that i have worked had a reservoir for about 1 qt of oil that never drained untill the lack of oil from the engine oil pump. That way it waould pick up instantly from the resevoir for maybe a 1/2 min. On the woodward on your mack if you ever check the timing i can still remenber how its done on that gover.
  22. Rob that would be a woodward governor. Good thing about them if you loose the oil pressure the engine shuts down.
  23. I like the too long chain.
  24. If it was my engine i would install a turbo but dont add any fuel. This will make it a clean engine and add some power. The cranks was bad to crack in the years they were in production.
  25. Same head. I have built two NH 250 engines with turbos on them from the N927. Making them a 855. All be cause tears ago when they were still in trucks the crank was weak and hard to find then. All we did to them was install a 250 crank and rods with 250 injectors and pistons and calibrate the fuel pump. The N927 was a 250/270 with out a turbo. They could be set to a 270 HP.The N927 block used a different oil cooler than the 250.
