  1. That is the exact set up on a KW I was looking at. Never got to drive the truck, so can't compare, but it also had 4 spring under it. Not sure of the mileage on the unit, but the crossmember was severely cracked and needed attention if it was to be used to haul again. For the "toy" I was going to use it for, I was going to patch it up and re-use it. I would bet that it would be helpful under loaded condition but not sure how "soft" it would be bobtail?
  2. Welcome to the board mackmann. Pics............we LIKE pictures.........
  3. I'm the dumb one...my g/f offers to clean my house(won't let her), offered to buy a motor for the Mack(won't let her), offers to help with race car(haven't let her). Never said I was a fart smeller..............I mean smart fellar..............
  4. Got even less then a lump of coal Mike! LOL!! Just a never ending dream right now. Both the interior AND exterior work. Just having a hard time paying out money for "bling" when I have to save for fuel just to drive it. Dang.
  5. I still have the first IR 1/2" I bought 20+ yrs ago. Granted it's not used daily, but does the job with the 120# of air I have. A friend gave me a 3/8" model that really kicks butt. Take it off or break it off. Handy for all work being smaller and lighter then regular 1/2" Been wanting to upgrade my compressor to a two stage with 175# of pressure. Someday.
  6. I want to do black button tuff headliner someday. A set of matching door panels would really set it off(and hide all the old scuffs and scratches).
  7. I'm not saying there was a "quota", but surely if you were told money was short and cuts were going to be made, you'd read beween the lines and make an effort to enforce the law "a bit more". I stop and talk with my Sheriff buddy when he's lurk'n behind his favorite blind waiting to catch speeders running down this particular 4 lane hill in town. He's very forgiving, but sometimes when the driver becomes irritated, he'll throw the book at them. There is definitely a black and white difference in attitude in cops. Some are there to help, others are there to flex their muscle(they were picked on at school, their mom didn't hug them enough). I give them all the respect they deserve, as they do a job that for the most part I wouldn't want to.
  8. Yup, I know Gordon too. Met Leroy back in late 80's? Cruis'n Tusc.
  9. When I stripped/repainted my heaterbox way back when I had my local paint place "scan" a hinge cover plate for the doors(which was a really nice original paint sample) and had them mix me up a pint. It's very surprising it blends in very nicely with all the remaining interior of my truck. Luckily mine hasn't been butchered up with spraybombs in it's lifetime. They have very old paint chip books, but no Mack color codes(not many big truck codes anyway). Watts Mack was offering rebuilt door panels and dash panels that were painted. Does Barry have the official paint code? Or are you looking for ALL paint codes, including exterior?
  10. Mines on the frame, under drivers corner of cab. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with one as probably the same as used today? Check to see if wires are broke at switch before replacing it. Touch them together and see if lights work.
  11. Greg, you work at East? Do you know Leroy Dinger?
  12. ''I don't know of any chief that goes out and mandates more tickets,'' Lineback said." Ya, it's basically an unwritten rule I would think that any cop would know. As soon as the word comes down from up top that money is running tight and cost needs cut(like maybe police jobs), I think it would be beneficial to any cop to turn up the wick on tickets to bring in revenue? Duh? With the amount of cars, it's SOOO easy to find plenty that are speeding, running red lights, not signalling intent, blah, blah, blah. I think the only drawback to the whole situation is then the cop must be present at the court to contest it if the driver does. This in turn takes him off the road and unable to right tickets. Kinda a catch 22.
  13. A sharp razor blade and a set of sore fingers gets it clean for me...........LOL!!! Get some good brake clean(spray can), as they usually cuts into the paper and gasket glue and helps release it.
  14. Greg, Been in/out of Ky/Cin Airport bunches of times, but never had the fortune of driving around that area.
  15. I'm think'n not there Rob. No room at the Inn, but I'll put up with it. You'll see next week.
  16. Wanna hear a sad one. I bought a NEW chrome shell for my B model from Barry. I received it shortly after and promptly opened it up when I got it at work. I was FLABERGASTED!!! It was sick................it was rust brown...............the entire thing. Pretty sick for what I paid for it. I took it home and spent some time with chrome polish and brought it back to "new" looking again. I quickly put a TON of wax on it to keep it looking fresh and coated the entire back side with gennie Army cosmolene to seal it up. It's been on the truck for 6 yrs(or so) and still looks great. You can't buy quality much of anywhere anymore. Bought a bumper for my new '99 Ford dually back in '99(I ordered truck without bumper as I wanted a drop model). Ordered it thru the Ford parts dept and it came in shaded with rust too. Shabby work all around.
  17. Check with your local licensing. Being a "motorhome" will make you install a sink/stove/portapot/etc. You can plate it as a truck for under 26K lbs, which "SHOULD" remove you from CDL? Maybe? Such a grey area, with multiple opinions. Good luck with it.
  18. Each state has a different view with old trucks. Some allow driving it with a "historic" license and you won't need a Class A CDL. Others don't allow it and you have to have a truck truck plate and CDL. Not usually too helpful to call your local place as the person that answers the phone will give you a different variation(their interruptation) of the law. To reinstate your CDL, you'll have to take the WHOLE test over again(likely).
  19. I love that show!!! Didn't think I'd like it the first time I saw it, but it really grew on me and the stuff they do is crazy sometimes.
  20. I stay at the Holiday Inn Express and put it on the company card. Don't know...don't care what it costs.............LOL!!!!! Have to agree, the reverse math is NOT logical and using totals from two different math equations. The guys paid $10 each x3 = $30 they got $3 back, so they guys paid $27 TOTAL. No matter what. The clerk got $2 in his pocket, no matter what. The differences in the two equations are the rounded cents(like previously noted) but you can't mix the two since mathematically it doesn't come out an even number.
  21. Wonder how well she does oil changes??? How well can she adjust her rack....um,,,,,,,er......the rack on a pump? Might be a bit slow..............but VERY easy on the eyes!!
  22. I had to move mine outside last Sunday to make room to work on my little car(broken brake line). It started fairly well for sitting inside at 45 deg. Once it sat outside for an hour or so at 15deg.......things weren't so jollly. It took quite alot to bring it back to life again. THEN, since the moisture in the lines had time to freeze, the compressor wouldn't build air!!! Damn! After about 15 minutes it finally built enough heat around to finally break loose and get enough air to release the brakes again. Note to self, don't let it sit outside after being warm inside as water DOES freeze! Did I mention I HATE winter?
  23. I'll add my .02 into this choice. NEITHER...........................LOL!! If I had to pick, it'd be Jennifer though. I have a hard time anymore falling for any of these new movie start types. Too phony, self righteous for me.
  24. That is also how alot of campers are set up. Get a large cut off switch and wire deep cycle positive over to the group 31's positives.
