  1. As you get older, it is funny to watch the very "non caring" world of a baby. Eat, sleep, play, repeat.
  2. Right off the treadle pedal would be my best guess, at least that would be close to hook up anyway.
  3. Is the cable in good shape? Not real sure, but maybe a good ground from the antenna to chassis might help. You would think that the shield in the cable would ground it back to the radio and would work fine? What brand antenna? could be faulty? Tried a SWR meter on it?
  4. The 2000 PSD only had a muffler, no cats(yet). I built a Z bend to replace the muffler and left the stock tailpipe(3 1/2"). Loved to leave the rear slider open when pulling my trailer and listen to it bark pulling hills(especially going under an overpass).
  5. "Hippee's"........(AKA Higbee's, kinda like Monkey Ward) is likely just a NE Ohio thing?? We had one here in Canton(hour south of Cleveland) but they are gone now. Out of the two big original malls here, JC Pennys and Sears are the only two left that are still open AND in their original stores. Mellet Mall, which is now Canton Centre is basically a Wally World. They tore most of the mall down and replaced it with mini strip plazas. Mellet was the first "BIG" deal back in early 70's. The open courtyard was soon closed in for year around use. Belden Village grew up in the north end of town in late 70's and has been the reason for the other mall closing up. BV was built on a swamp area and turned into a mega metropolis! The Christmas story house is a big attraction and you can do the whole tour thing, a friend did a few years ago. I need to look in my toolbox, I think I still have a Monkey ward jig saw? Hmmmm.
  6. My blower is a Jacobson(late 60's-early 70's), the original 2 stroke engine had issues so bought a 3.5 briggs for it. Bald hard rubber tires, but that thing will cut through ROCK. My neighbors were always amazed at the crap that thing would dig through(ie: that frozen crusty piles the city plows leave at the bottom of your drive). The new plastic versions, with rubber flapper wheels won't move dry sand on a windy day.
  7. Back when I had my 2000 PSD dually with a straight pipe on it, it sounds like a baby V8 mack(only 440 ci instead of 998 ci). V8 diesels have their own sound, nothing like a 6 banger. Sure do miss that truck.
  8. Monkey Ward!!! Alright, I remember them well. Higbee's, Oneil's, JC Penny's, Woolworth...................all the great stores.
  9. Trent, ya, I'm on the bullet occasionally. Pretty "open" moderating for sure. I go by "battlestar". Sorry to burst your bubble there Tom LOL!!! She has actually yet to ride down the track in anything yet. I have taken her for a warm up spin in the wagon at the end of the track. Most tracks allow it for warm up before time trials start. I kinda let it loose once and grabbed second gear really early. She was like "Wow, is that is fast as you usually go?" I just laughed and said I never even got it up in the powerband yet!!! Plus there are 4 more gears to go LMAO!!!! She enjoyed it, not sure if she would for a real ride. She does like riding in the hot rods(mostly for the attention more then the speed--which I'm pretty tame anymore on the street...it isn't worth the headache).
  10. Actually that is my buddy who races too. That was New Years day a few years back, the one local track has a race called "hangover Nationals" on new years day. Run it rain, sleet, snow, whatever. It was warm and dry that day so I grabbed the hot rod instead. You run on the index of the year(like 20.12 for this year), so going fast isn't the issue. They get near 200 cars every year.
  11. MOPAR.............Move Over People Are Racing
  12. Ya, the infamous "low bridge". You likely saw all the fancy warning devices hanging down now to try to keep the idiots from going that way.
  13. Tom...........I left this one out. My first hot rod..........and still going strong
  14. Ah, down on corner Harrison and Navarre Road, Hiennam Saw..........sumthin like that. Know the place well, my buddy has his car repair place up Harrison a couple blocks. My other buddies machine shop that does my motor work is just west on Navarre about a mile. Unfortunately I live up north by the Akron/Canton Airport so I'm not down that way during the day. If it would been Monday I coulda met up with ya. Nice lil truckers choke and puke about a mile west at Raff Rd exit.
  15. I'm not into speed on two wheels, got my other hot rods for that stuff. I can't stand "quiet" anything. Maybe in 20 yrs, but not now. my Honda goes fast and makes noise: on the street or track
  16. I've rode the wheels off the Honda in the last couple years. It puked oil out the rear rocker cover and has been in pieces since August!! Silly cone only, no gaskets. It's together, cleaned up and ready to roll. Got introduced to owner of local bike place(that I frequently window shop at) and they have some Customs coming this week and he's cutting me some good money off retail so it's worth it. Priced better then few on Craigslist. We'll see tomorrow. If not, very soon. That's the problem, those big "highway bagger" type bikes are too much to run around town on(in my opinion). I'm not ready for that and my back doesn't like riding that long anyway. Honda just doesn't make anything that has any sound to it. I'm a hot rodder, I want a bike that sounds like something. Some people don't understand it.....and likely never will.
  17. LOL!!! Sad part is I am looking tomorrow!! (the ring thing has come/gone and she doesn't care anyway). Got the Shadow put back together(finally) and I want something that has some good ol American "thump" to it. That foreign "hum" just doesn't cut it. Some how, in the next month or so I'll have a Softail Custom. (anyone interested in a very nice 2000 1100 Shadow Sprirt?)
  18. Told the g/f that I'd buy her a ring........but I found a Harley instead........ and that is when the fight started.
  19. AC/DC "Who made Who" was THE soundtrack back in the day. I wore that cassette out a few times. It would quit playing, so I'd give it a rest for a week and it would play again. It just ROCKS! BTW, I still have it, though I did buy the CD version too.
  20. Have to go from feable memory. There is a round disc in the lower portion of the door, it is the window stop. Removing it allows the window to be lowered enough to get panel out. Been 10yrs since I played with mine so I'm trying to remember the details.
  21. Congrats Trent. Mine is still a keeper after near 6 yrs without a ring. She enjoys all my bad habits too. Dont know why???
  22. I watch all my classic films on CLASSIC VHS!!!!! Get all the true white noise and fuzzy picture!!! LOL!!! Got plenty of these flicks, great bad weather watching! Should I go out to the garage and work??? Naw, it's nice and warm in the house! I remember going to see Smokey and the Bandit over 2 doz. times when it was at the theaters!! I went with everyone I knew. "Did ya see it yet? No? Ok, we're going". Remember going to Great Smokey Roadblock too. If it had a truck in it, I saw it when growing up.
  23. I used 1 1/4" diameter 1/8" wall rollbar material to mount my fenders. Made my own brackets that bolt through a suspension holes, slip the tubing over and clamped it. You can stand on them without problem!
  24. Most of us run Rotella 15w40 in our trucks. About 6-7 gals takes care of it. If you still have 20" tube tires, you can buy a set of 22.5" tubeless rims/tires and bolt them on. That was the first thing I did to my truck when I got it. I've played with my pump, had it running pretty good. The bad thing was when fuel prices went up, I turned it back down to get decent mileage out of it. I average 8-9 mpg pulling my trailer. When it was turned up...about 4 mpg!!! She sure did put out the smoke back then. Which pump? There are a couple variations.
  25. Yup, 3/4" stuff will be mandatory if he works on bigger stuff. I had to replenish my tool selection when I bought the Mack. I wouldn't go crazy til he finds out what he will be working on. That big stuff gets pretty pricey if you go with a "tool truck" guy.
