  1. I will be pulling things apart this week to investigate. Ken, there did not seem to be any more oil on the outside of the turbo like we saw at the show. I know the shaft was tight before running it. Could be showing age issues from sitting.
  2. No visual leaks or whistle. Was always a solid 15. Then i chech it and it was at 13#. Like I said when I had turbo off it looked "rough" but happy when it was 15#. I think I am in the market for new/rebuild. Weather has been the same all summer....HOT. Should only get better in cool weather. I figure under 1000* is more then safe on pyro. I was curious how the change in fuel affected it. I'm sure the factory sets it at a very safe level.
  3. Ok, took the trip over to Watts show yesterday. Truck ran fine overall. With the little adjustment to the pump I noticed a slight increase in pyro(like 50-75*) on a pull along with slight temp increase of about 5-10*(goes to about 185* now). About the time I was getting off the PA pike I noticed a slight drop in boost. I was getting 15 lbs steady, but now it only goes 12-13 lbs and that's all. I can feel power difference even with just the slight drop. Just not like it was. I was concerned but got to Watts without any problem. While at the show I poked around under the hood to see if I could see anything wrong. Nope, all seems fine. I made the trip home with no problem, just still a couple pounds down on boost. It still gets pyro up to 950-1000* and temps goes to 185* so it is getting fuel(no clogged filters that I know of). No excessive smoke(clogged air filter). I think the old turbo is just giving up the ghost. It looked a bit rough around the edges on the vanes when I had it off removing heads last winter. I think the bit of extra heat just worked too hard on the vanes and thus taking boost out of it. Might need to upgrade this winter? Thoughts?
  4. Nice!! Bet you can't wait to fill it up with a bunch of junk so there is NO room for trucks..............LOL!!!
  5. Very similar to what I saw. Not quite as big of box though.
  6. They do, that is until I leave the truck outside one night and have to fire it up at 6am with that air starter(with no muffler). Doh!
  7. I didn't go to Beaver Springs last weekend, yup, they got the race in. Go figure(just like I told them on FB--I stay home=you race). They did get a bit of rain, but not the 90% they forecasted all week. Thanks for the map link. I thought it was across the street from Watts. It is past/behind it. I think I can find it.
  8. There was a fellow I saw at a race a few weeks ago using an MR with a small "toter" on the back pulling a 40ft race trailer. Neat little tractor, should have taken a picture of it.
  9. So since my 237 has the same pump my 673 had, I figured I could play with it like I did my 673. It has run perfect, makes 15# boost and runs right at 900* on the pyro on any kind of pull. It has gotten just over 9 mpg on the more level road trips. Guess it's time to mess that up!! I pulled the cover off and gave it a twist of a flat on the nut and snugged the other side up. Going to see how it does going over to Watt's this coming weekend(if it don't rain). The 673 I turned too much(like 3/4 turn) and really killed the mileage but it ran really well up the hills. I backed it off when fuel hit $4/gal and settled for what it was(I could really feel the difference in get up and go) and got 7-8 mpg on average. I'd like to find a tip turbine and give it a bit more. Someday. I can't leave ANYTHING alone. I did find a fellow that is donating an air start tank and associated parts. Got to get time to run down and get it, but that is a winter project anyway. My electric starter has a dead spot and is getting worse over the last couple summers. Takes 3-4 kicks to get it to turn over and start if you happen to hit the bad spot.
  10. I like it!! Looks ready to work. As they say "very truckly".
  11. So even 200 years later.........it hasn't gotten any better? Just politics as usual.
  12. I have plans to come this year. Hoping for sunshine! Unlike this weekend.
  13. Uh oh, this don't sound good David. Hmmmmm, I'd go $7-8K maybe, depending on how solid the trailer is and the basic overall condition of both(engine, chassis, brakes, tires, electrical, etc). It's all in the eye of the buyer and what they want to pay for something like this. My .02
  14. I use automatic circuit breakers. That way they reset(this pictures is a manual version) and you don't have to carry a box of fuses. The control side is fused through your original fuse box. Look like this: BTW, looks like you won't have to worry about any one NOT seeing the back of your truck LOL!!
  15. Is that an LTL frame sitting next to it?
  16. Talking with a friend the other day, seems his buddy buys/sells/scraps stuff. Seems he came across a 237/5spd and sold it for $300!!! Not sure how wore out it was, but surely worth $300. I would definitely keep an eye out for a 237. Simple bolt in. I was on the look out for years, then this one fell in my lap.
  17. Dang Bob. I had some plans for that weekend, but need to see what I can do to adjust them. Hmmmmm. Would like to meet up with you(and others). The Ashland show is the only one I get to all year. Oh, don't let the chrome shell and shiny bumper fool ya. Well, don't feel left out if it does LOL!! I call it "Misdirection". Like a magician. Look over "HERE" and you won't notice the rust and crap over "THERE".
  18. Yup. Really cool piece.
  19. http://www.tenfourmagazine.com/2016/08/show-reports/a-pleasant-surprise/ Pretty neat little write up about our little show we have. My old jalopy even made the first picture! Guess expensive camera know how to cover up rust and grease 'cause it sure looks shiny. This was the slow truck race. I got "inched" out by John's even very slower moving B. Yes, that is Brockasaurus in the backround.
  20. It's only a 10 hr drive up there(plus border crossing). Someday maybe? I can't believe someone hasn't started something like that down here? Or is our sue happy society too strict to have that much fun out in the open?
  21. LOL! Ya, like that snow fence is going to stop 140K lb truck from crashing through.............
  22. Would love to get up to that show some time. Looks like a blast on video. One question: do they all speak French or can you get around with English well enough?
  23. Hmmm, a receiver hitch in the front, stick a pole in and we're ready for a party! OD...pick up some Winfall wimmen.
  24. Even comes with a patio on the front?
