    Kids today

I agree the kids have it made now days. I drove past the high school the other day and saw all the new cars and trucks out front. I know a lot of the mom and dads drive the fender flappers and the kids driving the fine rides. There is something wrong with that picture. Doug
  2. We was hauling scrap iron in those things. They would pick up a big load. As long as the brake and cable was good on the winch we never did have any problem with it I drove it in the mid 70's. I did not get any pictures. If you had to take the dump trailer off it was a pain in the butt. Doug
  3. I used to drive one back in the mid seventys. It has winch on the truck with a four part line under the dump trailer to the back. When you pulled on the winch t would pull the wheels toward the truck and would raise the bed. To let it down just reverse the winch and it would come down. You would leave a little slack in the line when you drove off. Doug
  4. Most of your electric brake controlers don't conect to your brack system They have a pendulm in them. You set the level then set the gain like you want it. You still have the option to manually use the trailer brake. Doug
  5. Welcome aboard. Most of us need help but it would take a good doctor. We are all broke so we can't afford it. Lol Doug
  6. i used to use kids bubbles to find leaks on the big AC systems when I worked offshore. You could put it in a spray bottle. You can buy it by the gallon. That is what i did. Doug
  7. Thanks for that info. We thought it could have been for a ripper or something like that. I know farmers did use this little tractor. Doug
  8. This one has the electric starter on the pony but does have the backup pull rope. They guy we got it from did not know a lot about the condition of the pony. Oh yes I forgot it also has a Cat blade on it with the tag still in place. It looks like you can remove the blade from the arms and they will swing to the rear of the tractor. It also has a guide near the rear sprokets. It looks like you could put the blade on the back. Do any of you know why they swing to the back like that? Doug
  9. It is almost like a pin is out or something loose. When you pull the clutch back it don't have hardly any tension. I will tell him to put the fuel in it. When we started it it slung water and junk out of the main clutch access plate we had off. It was just setting on it so it was easy to get water in it. Doug
  10. When you pull back on I think the right clutch you don't feel any tension like you do on the working side. The main clutch needs to be adjusted also. I think when he starts to work on it he is going to go on and drop the belly pan and give it a good bath with the steam cleaner. The rollers all seam to be ok as far as we have looked. The old rails are not the best in the world. But it is all there and does run good and does not smoke. That makes for a good project. Doug
  11. My friend got this little Cat D2 with a pony motor yesterday. We pulled it out with a John Deere 50. We pulled it up backwards on the trailer with a electric winch double lined. We helped it with another tractor with a front end loader on it. When we got it home we held backup with the electric winch and used a backhoe to pull it off. After moving the truck and trailer out of the way we put fuel in it and pulled it with the backhoe and it started after pulling it about ten feet. It had been setting up a long time. It has a problem with one of the turning clutches and will only turn one way. The pony motor needs the carb put back on and other little things before we can try it. It needs a lot of work but will be a fun project. Doug
  12. This bike and my 46 JD B goes together both has a two cyl engine. Doug
  13. Sorry I know it was not a Mack but did want to post the picture. I did haul with an old R Model with a 237 with a 5 speed though. Doug
  14. That old Ford had a gasser with a 5&4. You would get a workout shifting that thing all day. We thought we had moved up big time when we got the 9000 with the 270 with a 7 speed. Doug
  15. Well I see it did not post but it was me with a old Ford log truck when I was in my early 20's. I will have to try again sometime to post it. Doug
