  1. Ironic, isn't it? That's a classic example of how the Democrats operate. Another is Harry Reid demanding more of Romney's tax returns. Why isn't anyone demanding Reid show documentation of how he went from a dirt-poor politician to one of the wealthiest Senators in America on a Senators salary? I'd like to see HIS tax returns, clear back to the lean-n-hungry days. Speed I had a big ol' rant all written about life under a second term of the Chicken from Kenya, but it was SO GLOOMY,I had to delete it. I have it saved though,so I can compare it with future events (if Obooger gets re-elected) and see if things get as bad as I worry they might.
  2. A lot of O's antics would be really funny,if they didn't hurt America so much;he's Damned lucky we still have a sense of humor! (Some are STILL pretty funny,in spite of the pain.) Speed
  3. ...And lock the Border behind him?
  4. Sounds like a complete reversal of his stance on the health care issue, like he's campaigning against his own policy.(??) Classic-"Tell 'em anything you think they'll like-you can always re-write history and change your mind once you get their votes." Next he'll probably say he didn't do the Obamacare bill-somebody ELSE did that;which is true. In keeping with his promise to America that this would be the most open and transparent administration in History,Reid drew up the bill behind closed doors, pushed it through on a weekend, and even Pelosi didn't know what was in it,but she supported it anyway. If he somehow gets another term,I really think it'll cause another Civil War. And,of course,he and his Kool-Aidists will be hiding behind the UN's Mercenary Army. Just my opinion. Speed
  5. Is the yeller round-front trailer gonna be available? That's cool! Speed
  6. Even not running it looks like a great deal. I have a resource for Nevada titles;I got the one for my '54 GMC 2 ton through this guy. It cost me a couple hundred bucks, but considering I had no previous paperwork and got a clean,non-salvage title,it was fine. The man doesn't get the actual title, but I got the paperwork to hand over at DMV,and the title came to my house in the mail,in my name. Where DMV told me it'd take a couple of months,or more,to get a title, this man got it done in 3 days. I'm told titles are pretty easy and low priced in Idaho, too. Speed
  7. And after all that schooling, they still haven't figured out all that free shit ain't free-it ALL has to be paid for by SOMEBODY. (And they're thinking,"Who cares where it comes from,'long as I don't have to pay for it...") Speed
  8. I think my dream car would have to be a '58 Pontiac Bonnnevillef 2 door hardtop with leather interior and all the bells-n-whistles;,continental kit, skirts,a 389 with Tri-Power and a 3 speed OD. Had a chance to buy one in 1976 that had an engine fire and didn't have the continental kit for cheap, but was already paying on a '66 Corvair Corsa,so I passed on it. Speed
  9. Hate to see you leaving, but like what's been said by others, you gotta do what you gotta do. I'll bet you can't stay away for long-this place is addictive. BTW-my Bro. Dutch is a Pete man, too,so even THERE you're in good company. See ya next time around! Speed
  10. The way that nut-case armored himself up,I think he was expecting it to turn into a s**t-storm. I'm not so sure one CCW holder could bring him down, but there's still that possibility. As well as he was outfitted, there's almost always going to be a vulnerable point on him somewhere, and a CCW holder,or SEVERAL CCW holders could very well have found it and dropped him. At the very least,it might have distracted him from his agenda long enough for the Police to work up a plan. I heard on a news program that the best reaction for the unarmed would have been to "play-dead,i.e. lay flat on the floor,to which I'd add that,in that way,the CCW holders might be able to observe him enough to see where his weakness might be and utilize it to bring him down. Of course,it's easy to "armchair quarterback" this after the fact. I'm afraid this was a case where it could only turn out the way it turned out. I can't believe some are STILL arguing that we need gun control. NO amount of gun control would have stopped this from happening;I'm sure,if he couldn't access guns abd ammo,it would have been dynamite or something else. My heart breaks for those who were killed and for those who will have memories of surviving this for the rest of their lives. Also, all the Law Enforcement Officers and EMT's who will probably be dealing with the "if only I'd..." second guessing for a long time. Speed
  11. She has a nice tan;that's about all I can offer for "saying something nice". Speed
  12. Guess I'm lucky out here; Yesterday was over 100,forecast is mid to high 90's for the next 8 days or so. Yesterday I took the BroncWorth and a 19 foot car trailer about 25 miles West,to Carlin,to bring back a Jeep J-10 a friend bought. My winch control dropped one direction (would power out but wouldn't pull back in) so I had to bridge two wires to make it retrieve. Then my assistant lost grip on the steering wheel and ran the truck off the right side ramp;we jacked up that corner enough to block under the wheel so it'd roll back onto the trailer. That truck was a lot heavier than I was told! The scale indicated it was 6640,but I was told it wouldn't be more than 4000. I was having to use the transfer case as a secondary box to get things rolling. (It only has a 2.8L V-6) (2WD Low Range, run it up to 5th,hit neutral, shift T/C to 2 WD High, catch 3rd and eventually upshift to 4th.) Wouldn't carry 5th even on flat ground, but that wasn't an issue-4th (45mph) was as fast as I could go without getting wagged across the freeway. Got the J-10 to Elko, headed South over Lamoille Summit into Spring Creek, where I delivered it. Broke the shifter tower while backing the trailer to where it needed to be,so I had to disassemble it in the field and find a way to make it work again so I could go home. Seems to work okay,as long as I keep a little downward pressure on the shift knob while shifting. (HMMmm-the shift tower on my spare Mack transmission has the same appearance and shape, but IT'S made of iron instead of plastic;wonder if IT could be made to fit....) Hafta check that out. This little truck sure is a work horse. Anyway, when I got home I drank about 2 gallons of water then took a sleep break, then got up and parked the trailer and went to get some groceries. Thought briefly of taking the Harley for a short ride, but it was blocked into the garage by my other trailer, and I honestly didn't think I had it in me to re-park THAT trailer too. Sore all over today. Speed
  13. Any idea what he wants for it? I happen to have an extra engine/trans. that would work for it. Speed
  14. I do remember seeing a "Caterpillar Yeller" B-73 quite a while back that I really liked. It rolled on 24.5 Budd alloys, and had lotsa chrome. I learned from the owner/operator it was titled and registered as a '77 KW,re-fitted with the B cab & doghouse and a 5X4 in place of the 13 speed. The owner said ,"Those air shift boxes are for sissies." (Don't shoot me-I'm just the messenger. It was HIS words, not mine.) He also said it would run 85 mph loaded all day long and averaged around 6-7 mpg. Don't know how much was true, but he seemed to be a pretty straight shooter on other matters. He was delivering a load of cheese to a place I worked for back then. Speed
  15. Backatcha,Obama! Start packin' your bags and find the leash and collar for your trained monkey-you're on your way back to Kenya. Speed
  16. JTFormula; It really would be funny,if it wasn't so tragic. 1958 F.W.D.; You hit the nail right on the head! Good work! How do we go about firing Congress, specifically anyone who voted this in,and replacing them with people with common sense, honor, self respect and some understanding of what life in the REAL USA is supposed to be like, how it was,and how it should be? I don't know the Constitution by heart, but wasn't Congress intended to be temporary jobs, for the people to serve for a relatively short time then return to their lives in the private sector? How can we undo the power the US Congress has given themselves to force such bad decisions on the people they're supposed to be working FOR? We need to get back to the basics of the Constitution, but I can see that won't happen, because people are afraid of the possibility of losing all the niceties they've worked for,and benefits the Government has either provided or enabled them to acquire. Well, maybe they wouldn't,maybe they would, but either way it would be better than what I fear the future will bring if we don't abandon the course currently set by this Administration. If we can get back to Constitutional values in DC a lot of the "GIMMIES" will go away, and a lot of people will really have a rough time learning to live a less "gifted" life;I know I'll probably lose my SSD benefits, but if that's what it takes to get our Country back on the track, lets do it-I'll survive. But don't misunderstand-I'm plenty worried about my future, and wondering what's going to happen. I know there'll be a lot of people who will have a much tougher time getting by,so we'll have to look after them individually. People will have to bring back good will and feelings of Charity, looking after our families, friends, neighbors, even people we don't know. I imagine the Churches will see a resurgence,as well as more people coming to them for help. Maybe that's not such a bad thing-at least they'll go to Church. I just realized how much I wrote,so I'll shut up now. Sorry for the sermon. Speed
  17. Wouldn't that give the goat those "deadly" farts? Speed
  18. When I cleaned out my '54 GMC 2 ton I found a box of "Triangle" reflectors, still in the box, under the seat. Not a clue how old they are,but except for the lenses, they're all metal. They're now back under the seat,(in a MUCH cleaner environment) where I hope to never need to use 'em. In the tool box under the seat of mt '45 EH,I discovered a box marked "Flares",that resembled the dreaded "old seeping, crystallized, unstable dynamite" we see mentioned in the news occasionally ,so I invited the Cops to come and take it away. I imagine they took the box to wherever they dispose of stuff like that and burned it or shot it fulla holes,or practiced handling it,etc. Other than that,my trucks appear to have evaded the "Safety Plan". Speed
  19. Looks to me like the guy on the runaway truck ramp was already mostly overturned before he even reached the dirt. Panicked and jerked the wheel? Speed
  20. I'm not sure I could get myself to drive one-a-those white-walled chrome barges in broad daylight.... Speed
  21. Very cool truck! I'm not sure I get the transmission set up though. Is the seller saying it has two 2 speed boxes with low and high gears? It sure seems like SOMEONE would snap this up;looks like it'd be easy to make it a driver. Speed
  22. I'm speaking strictly from the sidelines, but I think it's doable,IF you start with all the consumables in excellent condition and your truck 100% legal and up for any safety inspections that might be required, and IF you keep your business dealings a little "informal"(Not looking for contracts where they sign you up then "modify" their requirements),and IF you're a little more selective on what jobs you want to do (Try to stay clear of high profile jobs, and those with tight deadlines or very long distances.). It seems like short hauls, out of the traffic stream destinations and less than desirable loads would probably keep you busy, and if a shipper can't easily get someone to haul from his location or deliver to a location,he probably won't quibble about an older rig with the owner/operator willing to make the run. As I said though, you'd have to be selective, think it through first and make sure you can make it pay to go there. I know you probably want to keep your truck relatively original-I sure would,so the cab swap wouldn't work well for you, though it might get you more power and easier to find parts should you need them. Again, this just my opinion. Speed
  23. Welcome to the forum! Okay-first,contact the Mack Truck Museum via the link on this forum with your VIN,and have them work up copies of the info they have on your particular truck. (A donation will help them continue to be able to do this. ) Then,if you can, join ATHS;you'll probably be able to locate some parts and info there. For some of the more common parts,Watts Mack might be able to help;depends on how similar your truck is to a B model. As always,we all LOVE pictures,so keep us posted on your progress and include a link to your pics of the truck. Speed
  24. Been a LONG time since I've "LOL'ed" about the price of gas.... Speed
