  1. boweevil. found some numbers on the pump tag like you said. i'll send them to cummins and see what i've got in the ol' mutt. they are......NHCT 270 652636. i thought maybe the nhct 270 meant it was a 270 but if i remember right they had turbo's and this doesn't. will let you know. thank you and everyone else for the help. j.j.
  2. i'll check again today for some numbers. being in a cabover there is good access to the engine so if the numbers are there they should reach out and bite me. but that's when i usually miss what i'm looking for. will keep you posted. j.j.
  3. bollweevil. i cleaned the block right to bare today and no luck. there is a raised machined strip that runs the lengh of the block under the heads where i would think they would stamp some numbers but saw nothing. even put my glasses on. the only numers i found were cast numbers halfway down the block between the middle and back head.
  4. thanks again. i'll look later on today now that i know where and what to look for. will let you guys know what i find. j.j.
  5. bollweevil. are they the casted numbers i see on the block or are they stamped? i've been looking for stamped. there is some casted numbers behind the shifting linkage bracket that i'll have to take off but no big deal at all. ol' cabover has brackets everywhere. b-61. the fuel lines are internal. no turbo. was kinda' thinking "250" but just want to be sure. as i said with the engine number cummins can give me the rundown on it. i guess even what truck it was put in to new. as i said somewhere along the line the engine and transmission were changed in this truck. thanks guys.
  6. trying to find the cummins engine number in my G- model. the tag that goes on the aux. drive has been long gone. truck was originaly a 220 but was changed at some time and would like to know what it has now. cummins guy told my on the back of the block there should be some numbers (8) stamped but i can't find them. took a wire wheel to the block but couldn't find them. once i get the numbers they can tell me what i've got. thanks
  7. thanks barry. i 've got just a freckle over 1/2. first time that clutch brake has worked in that ol' G-73 in a long time i'll bet.
  8. hey joe d. and h.k. got that ol' spicer adjusted today and works fine. even the clutch brake. i got the pb blaster,a long drift,a bf. hammer and a black thumb nail :pat:somehow my thumb hit that hammer head on. after 40yrs. of dubbing with these things it ain't the first or won't be the last.
  9. i had one a few years ago that was a 1938, model 80, that had the same grill. it had a 611cu. in. overhead thermodyne in it. scratch down on the frame rail by the front spring hanger and you should find some numbers there to id the truck.
  10. i know he had a couple of C-models in the yard when i picked up my G-73 from him. hope he is ok. dennis is a good guy with a lot of mack knowledge.
  11. don't worry steve it's gonna rain hot water tomorrow night. that ol'B-70 has seen it's share of it too pulling up over lebanon mountain with a load of gasoline on.
  12. we could be worse off. i think it was redfield,ny.(oswego county) that got 9 + feet. i used to haul a lot of milk to the kraft plants up in those woods and they ain't lyin' but that ol' CH always got me up there and back.
  13. had me nervous barry. couldn't log on for the last day. i was getting ready to take a 1- 1/8th. wrench a ballpeen hammer and a 2 foot long drift to this thing to get it back working. don't laugh.......it worked the last time
  14. thanks joe d. and h.k. will give it a shot this weekend if it warms up. hate to run the furnace in the shop with this -20 windchill. almost see the dollar bills going out the chimney. i think those oil men are just about rich enough. i know they dont think so ......BUT I (WE...US) DO!!! thanks again
  15. any tricks on getting the "old style" freed up. on the ol' G-73 i can get it to turn 'bout an inch either way by tapping on the lock hubs with a brass drift. don't want to break one.
  16. hey barry. (or anyone else) do you have a KYSOR shutter stat #D-16000-180 (degree) in the parts archives. tried everyone around here and no soap. thanks
  17. i have my tag and can still read it. is there anywhere i can match the numbers as to what year it is and the ratio. it's an old one. it's TRO-9513. fuller /eaton-yale and towne. inc. RTO-9513 is what my fingers meant to say.
  18. i have belonged to ATHS for 21 years.(1986). can't wait for every other month to get the wheels of time. wish it was every other week. it's like the BMT. can't start this computer without clicking here first. have gotten much, much info. off this site thanks to all the great members. gotta' give barry and watts a lot of credit for coming up with this site. :clap:as far as those BRAND-X guys ragging on mack forget it. they don't have a clue as to what there talking about. when i started driving quite a while ago :pat:in a B-model,guys used to be jealous as hell to hear me shift cause they didn't have a clue about 2 sticker's. so when they rag on your mack forget it . they have no clue about a REAL truck . i'd like to have the numbers on how many ol' macks are still running around and how many of the competitors are still out there from 50 years ago. just my nickel's worth.
  19. have a 220 cum-a-long in my G-73. is there supposed to be a fuel return line off of the PT pump. i noticed in an old motors manual it showed a return line. on mine there's just a plug. don't know if it was plugged to get more fuel up top or it's not supposed to have a return there. the only return is in the back of the head. i do know that it de-accelerates on the slow side (typical of cummins) and that's usually a sign of a restiction somewhere. thanks. j.j.
  20. hey superdog my daddy used to tell me there's a con on every corner. guees he was right
