1949 Type-45 Oil Filter?
Geoff Weeks replied to Pacifica Pete's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Brocky, just pulling your leg a bit. The REASON I have all the parts books is because I asked for them because parts guys couldn't (wouldn't) use them. I either got them from the parts house or wrote the mfg and asked. I explained I worked on old or really odd equipment and needed the "buyers guide" as well as the regular parts catalog. For some inane reason, mfg digitized the main catalog but discontinued the buyers guide? The buyers guide contained drawing, specs, and pictures, all helpful when trying to find something that works. While most counter guys couldn't or wouldn't look at the buyers guide some did. THAT is the important info to put in digital form, as it is expensive to publish in book form when many never used, but cost little to have in electronic form. I have lost some of the catalogs over the years, I don't know where or how they grew legs. I had one for brake wheel cyl that would list by casting number, so if you had a NLA cyl but the casting was still in use, you could buy and bore out to your size, same with brake pistons. Have one for piston rings where you can find rings by size and shape/type. Got rings in this country for a Gardner that way. -
Bananarama - Cruel Summer Music Video

For some reason I feel like @mowerman could have easily been the driver of that U model with all those wimen up in the cab with him.....🤣 -
IMO pop music from the 1980s was mediocre at best. However, compared to anything produced in the last 15-20 years it almost seems good by comparison. Think what you want of 80s music, specifically this band and song, but they included a killer Mack U model pulling a reefer van in their official music video. It is shown on and off for probably close to 30 seconds. It almost looks like a New England Motor Freight tractor with the NEMF removed from the door. The song and video was released in 1983 and made popular by being in The Karate Kid film. The music video was filmed in Brooklyn NYC. The twin towers and Empire State Building can be seen in the background several times. The U model is shown on and off many times between timestamp. 1:05 to 2:50.

That's when one goes old school and compensates with lower gearing. You won't be flying down the highway but the 6.7L/10spd auto will get the job done.

Yes, it is. It took me a while to find a correct engine in the past since my original chassis had a wrong one. Ended up importing a whole donor truck from Europe. With the engine stuck. -

Goeff, you are my type of parts man!!! You still have the books and can read them... Sadly ALL of new new kids can NOT!!!!! If your VIN number is not in the computer they are lost.. A few years ago the Car Quest man here in town got me a water pump for my 55 Ford F-600 with a 239 Y block only because he still had his old books out back.. -

Thank You, it was on the truck when we bought it, I was thinking about putting a original extended bumper on it, but I would have to find some original mounts , the parts truck I took the 18,000 axle from had all the mounts and bumper but they were already sold. I might polish this bull bar and put it back, the quicker I get this truck back on the road, the quicker I can work on our Freedom -
How are newer mp8s?
Dmurph2016 replied to Dmurph2016's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Yeah it has an m drive (one of the reasons I’m interested in it) pretty much what I was guessing was it’s at that mileage where it’s going to start needing stuff ( why company’s dump them at around 450-500k miles) the truck has all the specs I’m looking for and decent price, but again the mileage scares me. I know it could go 100k without issues or 1k, and either way it’s a risk. I just don’t have experience with newer stuff and it’s all new to me so I want to get all the info I can before making a decision. I have a feeling I’m going to end up passing on it just based on the miles but it checks all the boxes so I am torn. I wish I could afford something almost new but not in the cards right now. -

P.S., if the size checks out, I wouldn't even bother checking an autoparts store. I would mail order through Grainger, Zoro or Amazon, or whom ever you like. I've had to do that getting Michinna canister filter, on my 1942. - Yesterday
