Yes, the seal was leaking . Every time I move it, I would make a little drips and  puddles I really didn’t wanna work on it just yet but now it will be over with

It does bind occasionally when I’m moving around, but I assume it’s probably air in the system since it keeps leaking and I have to keep filling it just to move it

well back at it,,i made up this tool to get the end cap off,,but manual says supposed to drill out the locking pin,,i have the correct size drill bit,,,and it just stops around 5/8s inch in,,,,and this thing has been apart before,,,and im not sure what the other guy did here

Well, back from San Diego had a blast down there as usual. I did not wanna come back here. Hopefully a little progress today or tomorrow we got our big yearly car show hot August nights going on. I might have to get up early Saturday and go down there and look over a bunch of them.

Ok, I'm not sure why you are trying to disassemble that far. Last I knew you were going to replace the bushing for the pitman shaft, I see no reason to take the main gear apart, they don't leak externally.

Well I was going to pull it apart mainly to clean it properly but I see there isn’t much inside but spring washers I’ll just put in all the seals I bought and clean everything up real good and reassemble I bought a sector bushing and it doesn’t even look like there’s anything wrong with the one in there thanks for your input, Geoff…

I’m anxious to get it out of there and start working on the nose, but I still have to fix a rear axle seal while it’s in there. Summer is flying right by and after a week in San Diego it’s taking me a little while to get back in the loop, very easy to just turn lazy. I forgot to mention straight line steering did tell me that most of those internal parts in mist  cases are obsolete

If it makes you any more at ease, I never went further in than taking the covers off and the main gear/piston out. I have replace the sector shaft bushing and then popped the main gear back in (being careful to time the timing marks). Only time I would "go inside" is if it had power in one direction and not the other (indicating the poppet valve/springs) were bad.

That was never the case for mine, they worked fine.
