svigarfarms Posted January 26, 2014 Share Posted January 26, 2014 We've got a 96 ch613 that the drivers side front wants to run lower then the passenger side replaced both front spring with no success. Talked with a frame shop and service manager tells me it is from not having the same fuel tanks on both sides. Which it doesn't drivers side is 120 gal fuel, passenger has about 30 gal oil for wet kit. Truck is 204 wheel base service manager says its a common problem that over the years the frame has become twisted and the easy fix is just to add a block under the spring to square it up as we only run about 20000 miles a year. We are off by about a 1.5 in from side to side. How much of a block would I need to raise it that 1.5. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
kscarbel Posted January 26, 2014 Share Posted January 26, 2014 There has in the past been a factory option called "unequal front springs".The proper way for you to handle this is have your Mack distributor (or the good folks at Watts) take down your model and serial number, and submit a "changeover" request to the Mack-brand specifications department at parts operations. Tell them your left (drivers) side is the heavy side.The specifications people will then tell your chosen Mack distributor what parts would have been used if this truck had been originally built (ordered) with "unequal front springs".Installing the proper factory components will provide you with the most durable and professional result. Timmyb Posted January 27, 2014 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We gave one that's the same. Left side lower than right side. Our truck is an Australian truck, so driver is on right hand side, and we have an air starter tank on the right hand side. Both fuel tanks are the same size, yet still the left has sagged despite more weight being on the right. I suspect a lame spring, as the shackle seems to be on a greater angle. Dirtymilkman Posted January 27, 2014 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Its crappy springs....on one of my CL'S I replaced right and left springs on the steer and after that the truck leaned. I have 20,000 fronts and they showed me a service bulletin about adding lift blocks. Well the side that sagged more made it one year and busted. Replaced it and now its level again.
