rechroming plastic parts

Recommended Posts

I have a 88 RW 613 dump that i work, I'd love to clean the old girl up but to replace all the chrome plastic parts it'd be 1000 between the cab lights and the smaller parts. the chrome is pealing off and i know metal parts are chromed through an electrical charge process so it wouldn't work on these? i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions

thanks darren

Can they re-chrome existing chrome plated plastic?

Another couple of names. I have never had plastic chrome plated so no advice as to who does a good job.

Several shops claim to restore existing chrome parts with new.

Farmer not for sure but I know that they do chrome plastic so I would think they must have a process to strip the part instead of throwing it away, give them a call and let us know, they also do regular chroming and the prices on that is very reasonable as re-plating goes.

I was told they will chrome anything including animal skulls to make those fancy microphone stands for the rock and roll types

I sent plastic parts to them from my Eldorado. They stripped the old plating of it and replated the plastic. It is a Vacuum plating process and actually looked better than the originals. Paul
