  1. I just touch the clutch pedal when I shift to stop the engine brake. In town, empty, truck stops or flat landing I usally shut it off untill needed. Got to love the empty trucks running around truck stops using the engine brake at every shift. Like they don't drive fast enough in them now, they have to speed shift.
  2. Glad to hear YOUR not in jail, but the outcome sickens me, I can just imagine how you feel. The sad thing is, the kid and his buddys are laughing about the judgement I'm sure.
  3. 20% increase in my load rates would be nice, thats not asking for much. Fuel goes up, rates go down.?
  4.   Let us hope and pray!!! amen!
  5. I thought it was a U model that fell over. Now I need to go back and bend my neck, geez!!
  6. Everyone is after the mighty buck, all off the back of the trucker. There is none left, I don't know what makes them think truckers are money trees? If they aren't doing it for proffit, then write a sitation to repair on site or with in 48 hrs. Concerned about safety? Go after the 90% of auto drivers using cell phones, driving truck is like walking through a bar full of drunks break dancing. The cars are all over the road these days. More towns will follow, this is on 81 so they know they got a gift horse. http://www.landlinemag.com/Story.aspx?StoryID=24816
  7. Can't remember, 94? sound right? 5 spd,had low miles, no leaks, didn't use any fluids, new Bibeau, you got that right, nice dump bodys. I like spending alot on a truck then selling it at a big loss. Well I must, I do it every time.
  8. This is my old dt466, never touched the engine or any running gear for that matter. Good old truck. Sold the truck, trailer backhoe loader and all the attachment, rakes, grader blade, forks, in a package deal.
  9. TV? whats that. I get my news on the net, see the weather, history, nature and geography out the windshield. TV has turned into an insult on the americans intelligence. Todays tv and smart phones are creating a whole new breed of sub human.
  10. Those caps or virgin, I need 8 11 24.5 drives, virgins rather less agressive but still good for snow. Need 8 aluminum rims too. I'm in Texas often, throw me some makes and numbers,8 alcoa machine finish rims, 8 american made drives. Got 8 wide rims and 8- 20 ply XDN grip Michlin 315 80 22.5's for partial trade, good for front floats, lift axle on dump or drives on heavy haul.Same height as 24.5's. Anyone have 8 decent virgin matching 24.5's on aluminum to trade, will do that too.
  11. Happy birthday Vinny,13, a teen, scary times to be a teen, but I think you'll make it just fine.
  12. I'll be 59 very soon. When my family moved from Maine to Conneticut in 1958 or so, they moved next door to another family from Maine they knew, in a trailer park in Seamore Ct. George and Shirly Parket. George worked for Beard construction on the Nuagatuck river and drove a Mack, B model? I got to go to work with him a few times and ride in the truck, I was maybe 4 years old,I remember him looking over in the passangers seat saying, "why you bouncing around so much" he also had a MG TD convertable and would pick me up at the end of the street and give me a ride to the house. That was a big deal too. My mom told me years later, the ride was only about 100 feet or less but it seemed like miles to me. I walked up there almost every day and waited.
  13. I just took in over 800.00 in mixed change to my bank. They have a machine you just dump it in and it sorts and adds it. Doesn't take long. No charge if it's your bank, a fee if it isn't. Ever thought of selling by the pound to a scrap copper yard, I think you would get more.
  14. I need all the parts to go from a air assist clutch system to a standard cable clutch system on a 05 cxn613. It has a 18 spd but I think any Fuller parts will work. Needed: The plate that bolts to the trans for the cable to mount to, the spring and spring mount, cable or I can buy a new one, clutch pedal I think needs to be changed to. Parts were it goes through the firewall? Anything need to complete the swap. I have nos hood bull dog, door dogs, Mack script, air horns, and a bunch of stuff all old stock but new, have a good early R model hood, has the little indent on the bottom of the fenders that look like mud flaps, they only were on the first few year models. will trade stuff or pay cash. Need it installed before the 25th of Feb 13 before I head out again. thanks,Mark
  15. Loved RC when I was down south. Thought they quit making it, then a few weeks ago I was going down through a small old near deserted town in the mid south and there was a brand new RC machine up agains an old run down building. Well, thats all I could think about, being a hot day and all. A few days later I found one in a specialty store/truck stop somewhere, still the best cola going.
  16. I get it all the time when I call, I don't know I'm not from here, what way is north? I use the atlas combined with the gps, Alot of times I know it's wrong and just keep going, it recalculates till it get it right. Even permited loads, sometimes the permits put you into corners that can't be done, so you go left instead of right and look for a place to turn back. I'm sure that if you got caught it would be a fine even though you couldn't make the turn without taking a pole and half a lawn. I write the routes in big letters on the permit so I can see them quick, the other day in Dover going down 17 I was to take a right on 14 to 317 or 313 it all worked out great, simple link for the three roads, got on a streight stretch and got pulled over and got a ticket, should have taken the new road further down 17, 14 tr. SImple harmless mistake but mistakes are money now days. Oh yah, I better send that in, oops!!!
  17. Just put in four new ones but I think 32's? 1150 crank amp. Almost $500.00 always miss the sales, I like Nappa too.
  18. When I left Dysarts in Bangor Maine a few weeks ago, there was a sign by the fuel desk, good to -20. I believe it has kerosene mix. They also have a pallet or two of Howes by the desk. I have started up at -27 no problem except the batteries were useless, had to get a boost. Man don't they rattle when it's that cold. I know if you have a heating fuel tank for your house outside you have to buy kero but if it's in the basement or garage #2 is fine.I try to run the tanks low and fill up when I get home, more money but it won't gell.
  19. Broke an air clutch cable at the base in Dover Del. a few days before hurricaine Sandy. Just broke the brand new $600.00 dollar cable today at Dover AFB. It's not like I pull out of here alot, only my second time in a year. Sitting on the base now for 3 hours waiting for a mechanical cable kit and pedal so I can change it to mechanical, can't afford a $600.00 cable. The mechanical kit is $400.00. Had to get a mobile mechanic to bring it down so I suppose this is going to cost big time for travel both ways and labor. Brought in $1870.00 since I left home, have spent $2600.00. Put four new 1150 amp batteries in in N.H. fuel tolls, permits, ticket for going through Harrington Del. etc. I don't know. Got a jet engine over sized on and it looks like I might have to sneak through town and get to the truck stop 14 miles away. My permits for tomorrow don't cover the same route!!!! So will have to sneak back through town again. What to do....................PUNT? Just one of those days comes far too often.
  20. Looks like a pretty big chunk of steel, impressive looking pictures, great for the web page. As far as broken things, welcome to the world of trucking, you got out cheap, usually it' cost just a few hundred more then the load you just moved.
  21. I was about to scream the same thing. Do not scratch a crane boom, no chipped paint means no rust, "Rust Bad" use straps, use thick rubber under the straps, conveyor belt type. Block your trailer up level and make the blocks wider then the boom, carpet them. I always strapped through the bottom of the booms not over the top, it's acording to how wide they are, these were 9 1/2 feet square by 40'. I used the 2" staps four, like slpwlkr says, every ten feet. Mine set up on blocks because we carried 2 20,000 lb counter weight under the boom. Hauled many booms up many old mountian trails and cross states to wind tower projects and they stayed on just fine. I know I am too late but maybe some help Tuesday.
