  1. Rob If you run in other states you need to have apportioned plates or run temporary permits for states ran into. That is the reasoning for apportioned plates. Once you get used to paperwork for IFTA and apportioned plates it is not bad.Does Iowa and Indiana recognize a straight Illinois plate? Joe D.
  2. Rob I just read your other post about buying a trailer. About everything I said pertained to Commercial use not Antique Plates. Good luck and it looks like nice trailer with hydraulic ramps. Joe D.
  3. Other dog the White 3000 was on Ebay 2 times that I saw it. It did not make reserve either time. I think it said Cummins C-180 powered. Joe D.
  4. Rob If you register your combination for under 55,000 gross I think there is no HUT. You will need medical card and drug test.IFTA is not really a big problem if you buy fuel and file on time it is only $5.00.Buying fuel permits individually gets expensive.Federal DOT # is easy to get also go to a Federal Building or online.Filling out logbook properly is a must also.If you are going to use truck it is easier to do it legally. I did it both ways and now try to be legal. Joe D.
  5. Randy I am sorry to hear of your loss. I believe we do have the best and strongest Military in the world.I just hope the Liberals do not destroy it. Joe D.
  6. Deere Mack I run a tri-axle dump every day. If your truck is set up with long double frame 18,000 lb. front axle and at least 44,000 lb. rear with ratio of 4.30 or lower, double box PS or at least ram on right side, trans with 14.00 + low gear. There are some other dump specs but this is basic if doing off road work or site work. If hauling stock or asphalt you can get away with lighter specs. but it shows up eventually in worn suspension or blown rears. I see you are from Alabama and they have a high GVW for tri-axles so think twice about light specs. Factory tri-axle dumps are fairly reasonable now with construction off there is a glut of them in most areas. Joe D.
  7. Cheech147. I see you are from Scranton. I am from lake Ariel near you. What name do you use for your excavating company? i run a Maroon western Star Tri-axle Dump for Slusser Bros. Pennsy Supply. It has Ditchkus Trucking on door. We have a good local Chapter of ATCA in Scranton meets at L.A. lewis Warehouse every 2 months, also we started a new Chaptwer of ATHS meets in Honesdale almost every month. If you are interested about coming to a meeting let me know on this board? Joe Ditchkus.
  8. The small V-9 Cummins have a reputation for not being the most reliable engine in its class. The trans is a Spicer with a low-gear of maybe 9.00 to 1 it would not have a first gear of 39.00 to one.Even if you put a auxiliary trans. brehind it with a deep first gear the reduction would be approximately 18.00 to 1 which is a low first gear. Joe D.
  9. Jeff I have a A-51T it has the Mack 510 Diesel certainly hard to find parts for the 510 Dieasel. On your question of the 10 speed mono-shift the one in my A-51T. It has an overdrive ratio of 0.79 and a first gear of9.30 according to a sales brochure. Joe D.
  10. A friend of mine has a 1982 R-700 Mack triaxle dump with a 3406 Cat and 8LL. bad1989gti , You probably remember it when J+R from Pittston ran it with H+k. Owner now runs it with American asphalt. Joe D.
  11. If you only want it for a Hobby Truck I would look for a single axle with 20" or @22" hubs not 24" tube type they are expensive and avaibility is questionable cam brakes.Tandem rears are expensive to rebush and trunion replaced. 673 engines were very reliable I have one and no complaints. 711'S had some issues. 743 Cummins parts are getting scarce 855 Cummins parts OK. V-8 Macks parts are pretty scarce even the newer V-8's. B-61-67 and some other B Models are still reasonably priced if you look around. Some rust issues but do not forget newest one is 45 years old and a lot of them ran in Northeast section of U.S. with winter and road salt rode hard and put away wet.Good Luck. Joe D.
  12. B-421 Macks came with a EN-401 Engine. I do not see a listing for a V-8 gas engine in the B-421 series. Mack put some Chrysler Hemi's in B- Model Fire Truck Chassis. They also put 413 Chryslers in R- Models. Joe D.
  13. John Do they still have Constructor Plate for tandem dumps in New Jersey? I had a heavy tandem working in N.J. in the 1980'S. it was nice to gross 70,000 with no axle weights on a tandem. I think the man I worked for Bill Maddox rents from your Boss.Nice Jersey Iron. Joe D.
  14. Rowdy rebel Your new shovel is whats known as a mad ax. They work well for digging clay out of box. Joe D.
  15. I haul salt for PennDot and Townships. The worst part is not on the paint but the wires. Come spring it is time to replace a lot of connections. I try to keep them sealed but not always successful. Exhaust heat is the best for stone, sand or dirt, but it is notthe best for salt it cakes up in corners You have to be careful when using exhaust heat when hauling coal if you get on a hard pull possible to get it smoking. Try anti-freeze in a sprayer to prevent sticking it works good but is a little expensive. If you springle some salt in floor before loading stone or dirt it works pretty good. Joe D.
  16. Grant With the Budd Wheels there were 10 inner and 10 outer nut to hold Budd (Disc) style wheel on. Also there were left and right hand threads specific to each side these were also called stud piloted. The newer style Motor wheel Hub Piloted use only 10 nuts per wheel same either side. A big improvement over the Budd Wheels. I prefer Dayton ( Spoke ) wheels. Joe D.
  17. joe118800 I found a sales brochure for a H-60ST Mack which was the predecessor to your H-63. It lists an option of aluminum disc wheels. Joe D.
  18. Theakers2 I always heard that Mack had a fire at one of their plants so they started using Budd (N Model) Cab.I heard this story about 30 or more years ago. Do not know if any truth to it. Joe D.
  19. I think it was Budd Company that made the cab for both Ford C Model and Mack N Model. All the Ford C Models did not have a doghouse where the Mack N Models had a large doghouse to cover engine. Ford offered a small fiberglass sleeper option. I have never seen a N Model Mack with a sleeper not to say it wasn't avaible option. Both had heavy options as tandems and double frames. Joe D.
  20. 84Superdog. Fuller also made 2 stick trans for many years they had 5X2, 4X3,5X3,5X4,6X4 all 2 stick trans. A friend of mine had a F-Model Mack with 335 Cummins and 4X4 Spicer trans. 2 stick in it. Joe d.
  21. Packer What kind of shape is cab in on the F-600. Is it a sleeper or daycab? Bad engine is it a 673 or 711 not Cummins is it ? What do you mean by bad interior vandalized? Any pictures ? Thanks Joe D.
  22. ENDT 865 had 325HP. rating @1100 fi. lbs. torque@ 1350 RPM. ENDT 866 had 375 HP. rating@ 2200 RPM. 1040 ft.lbs. @ 1600 RPM. Joe D.
  23. The END 864 had a 255 HP. rating at 2300 RPM639ft.lb. torque @1700 RPM. ENDD 864 had 237 HP @2000RPM 685 ft.lbs. torque @1400 RPM. Joe D.
  24. joe118800 Nice H-Model. What engine 672? Trans. By description and picture it looks as tin is better than most H-Models. Good Luck. Joe D.
  25. Yesterdaystractors.com has a transportation site. It appears as a lot of people are looking to fill out a load. Joe D.
