Many on this board post with our hearts as lovers of everything MACK not understanding that no matter what, not every truck can be saved. Everyone who posted on here would like to see every truck saved by someone although most of us, ourselves, are not in a position to do that.I believe that often what happens is that we tend to take out the frustration that we feel at not being able to save old iron on those who have the means to buy but don't do with their purchases what WE THINK should be done with them. Now that we have "the rest of the story" perhaps some will see this issue a little bit differently. As I looked at the pic's that were posted of the trucks, I looked in the background and seen other apparatus & I was sure that this was not the way you envisioned the outcome for these trucks. Sadly there is someone out there for every single useable part on these trucks but you, as a businessman, cannot afford to have your money hanging out there for what would probably be years so the best way for you to cut your loss is to "short sell" what you have, lick your wounds and move on. I hope you will give our forum another chance perhaps the next time you have a truck available there will be someone in place to purchase it and give it the good home we all would like to offer. This time it just wasn't meant to be.

As for Gearheadb.... She is a "sleeper cell troll". She sits, laying in wait, until she can strike. She has been banned/blocked on at least one other truck forum that I am aware of. Long ago I gave Barry a heads up about her. WIth her personal attack on Trent maybe that will be enough to get her banned from here.

You can also look at tire straps. Do a google image search of "tire straps" & you might see something you like.

I agree with 4 point tie down. With the stacker trailer we had an access panel in the floor so we could reach up from the lower level through the hole & tie down. The front car was easy because the center between the tires was open. In the 1st pic you can see the panel in place & the D rings in the floor for the front of the rear car & the rear of the front car. The 2nd pic is from the downstairs looking forward, the access hole/panel is between the 2nd & 3rd ceiling lights. In the 3rd Pic you can see the D rings from the front of the front car. This is from the front looking back. If you haven't completed your car bay yet, you could put in an access panel in the floor near the front axle/frame, it would mean crawling around on the ground to tie it down but at least you are not depending on a winch (which isn't smart) to keep the car in place.

Larry, I think Dan posted that on the old ATHS site but not sure. I know it was kinda hard on Dan as they had become really good friends during & after the RD Truck build.

I think finding a left side exhaust bracket is gonna be worse than finding a neddle in a hay stack. I'm sure dual exhaust was available from the factory but I have never seen factory duals on a 4070B. We had 3 IHC 4000's, 8 4070's & 5 4070B's. All of the 4000's & 4070's were factory dual exhaust with 8V71's & 3 of the 4070B's had 8V71's but were single exhaust as were the two Cummins powered 4070B's we had. Perhaps your best bet would be finding a donor 4070 but even then finding salvagable parts might be difficult. You might find yourself fabricating the parts.

A few things about the "after". -It's still a truck. -Iit's still working. -Iit's been "re-purposed" which is typical of trucks -It is still being enjoyed by the owner as well as others. You probably would like it a lot less if it had been cut for scrap.

Actually I think they are carrying more than just 9K behind the trailer axles when you take into consideration the slope of the trailer & the afore mentioned air pushing on the back side of that tractor. I once loaded my Kawasaki Mule & Pop-up camper on a tandem axle open car trailer. I thought I had the camper axle close enough to the trailer axles but I didn't. I made it to the 60mph speed zone & was real close to being upside down in the median of US 30 only 6 miles from where we started. I reloaded by backing the camper onto the trailer then running the Mule up some ramps we had with us over the tongue of the camper moving 95% of the weight over the axles and onto the tongue. A much nicer ride for the other 494 miles. The below picture was after the reload.

My thought is they never made the scale house, about the time they hit 40 I would think that trailer would start whipping back and forth & they'd be lucky if they only ended up jack-knifed in the ditch...

Is that an 11.1 or 12.7 S60? The 12.7's that I have driven would pull stumps and still get good mileage.

For several years there were 2 or 3 White COE's with the cut frame and 15" wheels sitting on a property that was a closed lumber yard that was some how associated with FT Wayne Vehicle Auction. I never took pic's of them and I don't know what happened to them. They had some of the trailers too.

Truck is 46 years old, I'm sure it has been repainted at least once. Or could have been a special ordered interior. A lot of interesting things going on in that truck. Placement of the tach is unusual. What appears to be 4 push in (Pete) style breakers & two push/pull knobs & a later model gauge in the glovebox door. Electric brake controller. I'm gonna 2nd that the odd gauge to the left of the wheel is for the lift axle. Is a B57 a short hood like a B67? It appears to be shorter and with the doghouse in the cab....
