  1. iHere in VT. they have been checking for off road fuel for a few years. I've been stopped before in the big truck and one or two farmers have got nailed in a big truck and even pickups. Border crossings are a favorite. Tim
  2. Thanks again Chris for all your help. I'll keep it in mind about your pump. If I need one I'll be interested in it. Chris, any clean 4430's or 4440's around your area for sale? Thanks Tim
  3. Try changing the air filter element on the tranny and that should take care of your problem. Sounds like moisture in the air system,Tim
  4. Well that could be because the truck only ran once a week less than 150 miles for the last few years. If it's fixed I'm a happy boy! Tim
  5. Just picked up an "88" superliner with a 350 and she was weak on the #5 cylinder at the pump which is an APE and had it looked at. Took the top off and inner parts, then polished the surfaces which needed it and put it back together, but it still skipped, my pump man said we need to change the pump cam possibly . The heads were off and done and a new injector too before that. So hauling a load of hay the other day the skip went away? I'm not complaining, but how is this possible? What else might it have been? Tim
  6. Back in the "80"s Michelob had a great ad with a Phil Collins song(tonight tonight). There was a black convertible with a good looking woman sitting up in the back, followed by two black Superliners bob tailing....very cool,Tim
  7. Thanks to fullfuel for finding the big dog. Can't ask for a better Mack man. Keep the black smoke pump'in! Tim
  8. I ran a DK back in "83" and it was the first tractor I drove. I thought it was pretty cool looking and loved the three stage jake. I'll get this one all cleaned up and painted. Got to post a couple pictures and one of the RD 600,Tim
  9. I picked up a 1986 DK64B 350 big cam 8LL 46 rears ex mixer. It's in good shape and very solid. I'm going to put my fifth wheel on her and pul a short coal bucket. I also was given a 1981 steel nose RD600 10 wheeler 300 and a 5 speed that will be great for my son to learn on. It's the best free thing I ever got, even has the pto and 5 like new tires. The wife still yelled for 2 hours when I drove in the door yard with it. I got it parked next to the DK, what a fleet! Tim
  10. I'm sure the grill will fall out of this one too, just like any other freightliner,Tim
  11. The Mack name has stood for rugged and dependable since the begining and it's more than just a truck....it's a way of life,Tim
  12. I don't wish that on anyone...I had a 50 ton crane brake the chains on me after I was cut offand locked it up. Lucky for me the goose neck stopped it from kissing the cab. After that I switched to 1/2 inch hi tensile chain and 1/2 inch lebus binders and never had a problem after that. 3/8's ok for the little stuff, I too hope the driver was ok,Tim
  13. I've driven a couple cab overs, a mid 80's frieght shaker and a Mack MH. The frieghtliner was like being in a cave with those litte windows and hard to see the otherside of the truck with that dashboard. Oh yah a white single axle with a jimmie and set up to receive a "jif" to make it a ten wheeler and to transport it back to the hub. Cab overs have come a long way and I agree that there still are customers that need them,Tim
  14. Very nice Barry, brings back memories driving a tandem to N.Y. city everyday for two years. Had a three hundered, 5 speed and no power steering. Hauling a 102 trailer you couldn't see behind unless you weaved side to side....FUN. I really like that dump body, Tim
  15. Hey Thad...great picture from down under. The Aussies and Kiwi's know their trucks and have their own signature that has stood for years. I've got alot of great pictures on my office wall (thanks Nigel) of what in my opinion are real trucks, Tim
  16. I stand behind what Gearheadgrrrl said. Mack has proven it's strength many times over and parts that last through the mud and grime on and off the road. A lot of us have taken these trucks past the limit one would think is possible and smiled knowing it's a Mack,Tim
  17. I agree with HK, tough old trucks that with care will last a lifetime. They do look in good shape but would look great in Mack red with my name on the door,Tim
  18. I've gotta say 70's and 80's because that was when I started to run the roads with the DM 600's 800's RL700L Superliner's and U models',but learned on the Bs' and had a B 64, Tim
  19. You did great, the pictures are really nice. Like the colors on the superdog and great old brockway. Tim
  20. Yes those 58 rears did like to send you off the seat but the worst ride ever was that RD in my photos' with the 12.24 rubber...I'm 2 inches shorter from bob tailing! Tim I like the suicide nob on the RD and both have jakes. Love that duplex too! Tim
  21. Great pictures! That chevy looks like it would do some climbing. The RS still looks great too. I like your sticker in the rear window. I had a big HOFFA sticker that would get some attention over the years,Tim
  22. The one on the left is a DM 800 and the one on the right is a RD 600. Drove both models years ago and would love to find an old 800 to restore someday. Tim
  23. Thanks J.J., I'll pass that on to my brother for future reference. Tim
  24. I'm not sure what the actual size of the engine is but it is a in' line 6. Still runs strong and the flat bed dump is in great shape. She runs on 7.50-20's Tim
