Will the Mack factory or museum be open?

So, after some further research, looks like the right part number is TRW/Ross HF 642984

Looks like two of the same topics in a row. I have a 1978 Mack power steering box. There is a lot of play in the steering, when you move the steering shaft back and forth there is a ton of play. I am looking to have it rebuilt or replaced. I am unsure if it was factory or added after. So my question is, any ideas of a shop that will rebuild it or replace it? What should the ball park price be? I have it off the truck and will reinstall it. I am in the central NJ area. Only part number I can find is on top of the pump is 402893 if that helps. Thanks

We can all imagine but, The two or three in the front row with a little work looks like they will start right up, Change the fuel filters, fresh batteries a little starting fluid and boom, a running U model.

I think I remember this company in a post on here years ago, hard to believe these trucks are still sitting there.

Hey guys, I came across this video on Youtube, it shows a quick shot the Mack Factory on Broad and Vanderpool in Newark (toward the end of the video). I thought it was a cool look into the past. It was recently torn down and replaced by a self storage warehouse. During the demo, I did notice someone saved the two bulldogs that were on the front of the building. Just a point on Newark, NJ. In the good ole days, I believe it to be one of, if not the top city for Mack truck concentration in the nation. maybe other then Allentown where they were built. More Mack trucks came through Newark then anywhere else, even more then NYC, Chicago, Boston etc. just think of all the freight companies, the port, sanitation, construction, Rts 1&9, NJTP etc. Then a lot of them met their final place either by being exported or crushed by the many scrap metal places. Ahhhh, I thought the video is cool.

From the auctioneer, He said there was a ton of interest from across the nation. Positive sign for the collector truck hobby.

IDK what is even going on here. I've enjoyed the conversation about the old Mack trucks. I don't have a social media account. It does seem like there has been less activity on these boards.

Macungie sure will be different with out the Skip line up. Always said it must take a lot of time and effort just to get the trucks there. Glad I was able to witness it over the last few years.

There are two or three threads going, but I will post here. Rich, real nice pics of the show. Once again thanks to everyone who puts this show together and the guys who bring their trucks out. I stopped by the information booth about 1:30pm and they said there was a record turn-out of 840+ trucks. Seen some really nice trucks, the time, effort and $$$ that goes into these restorations are very impressive. Keep up the good work and see ya next year.

Cool truck and pics. That truck has seen plenty of action, love the history. I think these trucks still have a purpose in the fire service, even after all these years.

In my town here in NJ, no commercial vehicles on residential property. IDK if you register it antique, probably would still get some issues from neighbors. Have to remember, we might think the old trucks are cool, but most neighbors don't.

Dam, Cut a tire, repaired or had to replace it? No straps on the coils? Should be chains? Just asking? Nice looking pilot in the wheel house!

Cool Mlke, I thought they were a little better on fuel. Maybe someday I will spot ya running the top end of the NJTP.

Is the onion load secured properly?

Seen this nice Superliner at a small fund raiser / truck show in central NJ today. Didn't get any specs on the truck. They run the local area doing all types of dump work. These trucks are used everyday. Nice looking R in the background, too many people around the R to get a clean shot.

I used American Collector Insurance in Cherry Hill a few years ago for my Monte SS, They were good to deal with, and reasonable. Worth a call to see if they cover antique trucks.

GREAT SHOW!!! Thanks to everyone who run this event. I was walking past the command post and the MC announced, we have our 700th truck.

My only concern would be attracting the attention of a DOT Officer. We all know once you get pulled in for an inspection, they can always find something wrong with the truck. I have no problem with using older, paid off equipment.
