New Granite yes or No
The Heinz replied to Dieselman350's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
The 2017+ engines are so picky about fuel filters that there still isn't a good aftermarket for them. Donaldson seems to be the only one they'll take, anything else and you'll have fuel pressure faults galore. I don't even sell the Donaldson ones anymore, they end up more expensive than the OEM, and they're in a location that's harder for me to reach than the OEM. No brainer. -
New Granite yes or No
The Heinz replied to Dieselman350's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
The mDrive is a problematic setup in general. Brand new trucks have come in with burnt clutches, and like 67RModel said, they don't seem to hold up to the abuse a dump truck sees. The few dumps I've seen with mDrives ended up having a lot of transmission issues throughout their life. They're extremely fickle with their air supply, so you HAVE to be on top of your air dryer maintenance and draining tanks. If hardly ANY water gets into that control housing, you stand a high chance of paying for a brand new transmission with control housing. I can't recommend those transmissions to anyone who isn't a massive fleet with near-endless money. I'm not too impressed with the engines either. The pre-common rail engines weren't too bad, but we've seen a lot of injector failures with the new common rail engines, along with camshafts deleting their own lobes. Hope no one needs one of those camshafts, because they're now made out of unobtanium; more than 200 VOR orders ahead of ours! Nobody makes a good product anymore. -
I searched my old emails and found a case where someone ordering a new truck wanted to up the HP after it left the factory. Our foreman had this to say, and he wasn't trying to turn away the work: "As emissions standards get tighter and tighter our ability to do HP increases is limited. It is decided on a case by case basis. I’ll let you know what happens next week. If they do allow an increase it is usually a charge of between $2000-$3000 for a software change."

Tuners on these trucks are not very reliable at all, so I wouldn't advise you to go that route. I don't know if the cams/injectors are different between the ratings, but I do know the "right" way to accomplish an uprate would be expensive (and maybe impossible) to accomplish through Mack's channels. I'm think I remember seeing a notice that Mack would no longer send out uprate updates for whatever reason. Maybe others will have better information than me, all I have to go off of is what the dealerships will regurgitate.

Where exactly in Mack's systems would I find books? I want to look into the books that make looking up old Macks easier, I've had so many old Mack's over my counter recently that I know I'd make good use out of it.

I haven't heard of a system causing that much trouble, that's rough.

Did you replace the PM sensor already? I'm not sure if that's your problem, or how to actually diagnose it. I know that they usually throw a code when they fail. Part number for that should be 24307015 if you want to research it.

1967 TRQ7220 Clutch
The Heinz replied to The Heinz's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That will work perfect, they're the company Mack sends injection pumps and such to for reman, I don't see why they wouldn't be a good choice. I'll let me guy know, thanks for all the info ya'll! These trucks are very much so out of my league! -
34k to 44k camelback
The Heinz replied to Lmackattack's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
eMedia Center in Dealer Portal is where that is normally found, but it looks like eMedia is down for maintenance at the moment. I'd keep checking throughout the day. -
1967 TRQ7220 Clutch
The Heinz replied to The Heinz's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
The Mack museum confirmed the truck has a Cl258 clutch, but I'm having the darndest time finding a number I can order for that. The M4106-15200VBS Steve gave was a good lead, but I can't cross it to anything I can get. Anyone have an idea about a Spicer number or something? -
1967 TRQ7220 Clutch

Aight ya'll, the parts guy is calling for help for once. Customer has the oldest truck I've ever looked up parts for, a 1967 DM607S, and needs a whole clutch. Impact actually brings up a little information believe it or not, but it's impossible to read. Truck has an END673P with a TRQ7220 quardruplex. He told me the disc was 15" diameter, and the lookup confirms with him that it has a 2" x 10 spline. Any ideas? I found similar on PAI, but I'm not confident given they are a smaller diameter than what he is telling me.

Is the 7th injector/AHI nozzle sooted up or the right one? A 2018 should have the high-flow nozzle, modern part number 23937771. If that checks out, there wouldn't be much else causing it other than injectors or a hung open EGR valve.

Looks like he's hooked to a log car, so I bet it's a logging company that didn't want to buy a trackmobile or small locomotive and uses an old semi that was past its roadworthy days to shuttle their cars to the interchange with a larger railroad.

2004 CV713 Horn contact spring or roller completely missing
The Heinz replied to dirtlion's question in Mack Truck Q & A
If it's number 2 in the diagram below, it's part number is 5439-T2. It is widely available in Mack warehouses. -
I double checked the VIN and it is a 2004 Granite with the ASET AI350 factory with the Allison transmission. The water pump assembly looks like the following according to IMPACT:

CL713 Frame replacement
The Heinz replied to Mack713's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I don't know what would match to your truck, but I did notice that Mack actually shows to have your frame rails available. I'd definitely try to find some good rails to use elsewhere, but at least you have a worst case option. I wonder if an early CH or late RW would have similar frames? -
MP7 fuel check valve location?
The Heinz replied to Tonywham's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Sorry for the late reply, I wouldn't have had a part number until today anyways. A 2017 MP7 in a Granite shows to have P/N 21458307 for the overflow valve, it's the VIN I used for the screenshot above. -
Converting e7 400 back to mechanical
The Heinz replied to SelfloaderMack's topic in Engine and Transmission
Mack actually has some of the Econovance parts available, like the springs, orings, and even the solenoid. -
Fuel supply pump breaking off injection pump
The Heinz replied to 88Mack300e6's topic in Engine and Transmission
I hope someone can give you a good answer, but one of my customers with an '83 DM685S just had me order one for him from PAI, how funny that I see this post right after ordering one. Part number was ESP-3581 if anyone needed to know. -
Truck is an '04 Granite with an AI-350 ASET from the factory. Sorry for the long wait, I was out of work thanks to the snow and didn't think to check the forums.

Which one? There's two, one for the replacement of the two piece plastic tanks and one about the eroding water pump in ASET engines. Here's both because why not lol. MACK-SB232024.pdf MACK-SB232026.pdf
