  1. The air leak in the bellhousing is likely the braided steel air line that feeds the clutch cylinder. Driving the truck with that leaking will cause numerous transmission failures relatively quickly, I'd highly recommend getting that fixed ASAP. It involves dropping the transmission if that will help. The 7th injector/AHI nozzle usually wouldn't affect the engine at all, the only connection with the fuel system it makes is at the housing where it is fed from. I'd change fuel filters and make sure your fuel is clear before going down the rabbit hole that is the MP engine fuel system.
  2. The switch itself could have failed, it's really common around here, or the pigtail/harness could have failed. We usually end up replacing both sensor/switch and pigtail. This is only a possibility, but it's what we see more often.
  3. We see a lot of electrical faults with injectors, particularly in the harness. You may want to check the injector end of the harness on cylinder 1 for any faults, especially any oil intrusion. You could also have something up with the overhead, like the rockers themselves. We see those fail too. There's a lot of possibilities with the MP engines, but we wouldn't be able to diag over the internet sadly.
  4. Any time an exhaust manifold comes off, quote every bolt, stud, nut, spacer, and gasket. Also quote some Kroil. Got one in the shop right now that started as an EGR cooler R&R, turned into exhaust manifold replacement for exactly what you think. Want to know a worse truck for frozen bolts? Hino. Their DPF's are bolted into the SCR system, not clamped. So when the crappy injectors overfuel and melt the DPF, you also get to fight seized hardware the entire time. Awful.
  5. Missed this, but in response to FJH's comment, here's a picture to help. Instead of the gasket Option 8, put the plate there. This is 90° from the turbo on the manifold.
  6. Yeah, he said he didn't have a chance yesterday. You're right about the front and rear being the same part number, but start praying you don't need the center, thing's unavailable into the next century right now.
  7. Close, but no. Did our guy get with you yesterday Artful Dodger? I'll ask him when he isn't babysitting the idio- I mean techs.
  8. Me and the foreman are heading home for the day, but he said he'll get up with you about it and finalize with me tomorrow hopefully.
  9. I answered him in the other thread he posted in, PAI has the front/rear section available alone and with the studs/bolts. I made him a quote and am talking with our foreman that offered to help complete the transaction. If only I were allowed to sell to him directly, would make this a lot easier. I also recommended he look into making an account with us if he wants to keep buying from us, I could do just about everything a lot easier.
  10. I'm talking with the foreman now to see how we'll go, he may talk with you first just to make sure everyone's on the same page first. We'll take it from there! I also would say that if you think you want to order from us in the future, you could try to set up an account with us. That way I could deal directly with you instead of hopping through hoops.
  11. If you only need the front third of the manifold, PAI has a kit with the studs and nuts included P/N EEX-2055. I'd recommend getting the gaskets as well, EGK-3938. We have a bunch of the Mack ones in stock, but for something around $5 a piece I think you'd want the PAI ones. I made a little quote for the forward manifold kit and gaskets including freight into us then to you, all under $300. I would have to see if the foreman would help us by buying it from me, then selling it to you as I can't sell remotely anymore. Feel free to message me privately if you want more info.
  12. Genuine question, but what would he have done wrong? I watched it "in a hurry," so I may have missed something, and I'm always willing to learn the correct method. I love his crude setup honestly, gives the videos some charm in my opinion.
  13. Freight is ridiculous nowadays. We saw a dramatic increase when a certain someone had a few months start making changes after being sworn in... Any Emergency/NDA orders from Volvo costs the dealer $20 minimum, and even Stock orders have some freight to them (and never ship anyways).
  14. When it comes to Volvo, supersessions mean unavailability.
  15. I love seeing dump trucks that don't look like they were used, really shows a company's commitment to their image. There's such a small number of them around here that are like that, everyone rawhides the crap out of them and never bothers to wash them.
  16. I've been following this Jennings Motor Sports guy for a while now, and was surprised to see an old Mack on his channel. He's insanely good at rescuing super old cars and trucks, and has the most optimistic outlook on things that genuinely inspires me. Take a look and see what ya'll think about this old girl. He says he'll actually restore her too!
  17. Woops, I hit the V when I should have hit E again! Good to know, we haven't had too many EECU complaints on the "older" trucks, didn't know they relocated. Learning something new.
  18. Nope, I don't know why for this specific part. Usually I only see o-rings or small bolts or something that has a required order size. Not blessed lifters! The system used to look up parts now is HORRIBLE for trying to find crosses, and it takes a bit of research to make a good cross because of that. Stuff like E7 lifters working in an E6 is not something with Volvo/Mack's name on it would show. That kind of research is what brought me here in the first place. EDIT: I'd like to emphasize that parts guy wasn't wrong, he just doesn't have the resources to go much further than that. Mack's FleetCross program doesn't show a single cross for the original 72GC347A number. It's not our fault all the time, our superiors usually don't bother training us any more than they have to!
  19. Sounds like they wanted nothing to do with ordering that part for you. The E7 number posted previously (72GC357) that was said to fit your engine superseded to that new part number 20705596. There's lots of them in stock, though we can only order them in quantities of 12. Goes to show the state of the modern parts counter, turn away that which annoys you or doesn't bring enough money in!
  20. For anyone's future reference, that lifter part number supersedes to 20705596, and is available in Mack's warehouses at the moment. Interesting.
  21. That seems like the correct part number, but it is marked obsolete and not in any dealers' inventories as far as I can see. Neither PAI, Lippert, nor Automann had anything. I saw a few eBay listings, but finding one off a wrecked/scrap truck might be your best bet. I don't know of any differences, but maybe parts from a slightly newer truck would work?
  22. I second FJH, the older steering oil pumps using engine oil is an absolutely awesome design. Having to make sure you use the correct ATF or equivalent on the MP engines is an absolute pain. That also ends up being a pain on cars as well! I've honestly been impressed with the electric power steering my 2016 Ram has, wonder how well the same idea will hold up on semi trucks.
  23. I think most if not all E7 exhaust manifold studs are the same. They may be different when it comes to ASET's, but you should be fine.
  24. No problem. I still have several tubes of graphite we used to keep the cylinders from sticking all the time. It was supposed to be a recall from what I was told, but we never got any under warranty. If anyone actually looks for the switch itself in Impact, it's usually found under Harness, Steering Column, usually named "Wires."
  25. Yeah, I asked our foreman, and it's about what FJH said above: a tow job. Unfortunately with these Volvo fakers, getting anything diagnosed takes Premium Tech Tool, which comes at a Premium Cost in both how much it costs and how strong of a computer you need for it to work half a darn. The ignition itself fails all the time on these, the tumbler and sometimes the actual switch itself. The cluster issues could be the cluster, could be the VECU, could be the ECM. Can't say for sure without being there to diag sadly. Hope you can get some answers soon though!
