  1. Nice looking F model. Hope to see it at the Watt's show in August.
  2. Greg, I did some checking and the ZDP of CJ-4 is about 1200 ppm versus 1400 ppm for CI-4+. You will be okay with either a CJ-4 or CI-4+ oil. Shell offers a 10W-30 Rotella T in addition to 15W-40 and Synthetic 5W-40. The phosphorus and sulfated ash took a big hit for CJ-4 (Diesel aftertreatment devices). Hope this helps!
  3. I am on vacation/holiday until next week. I will ask our "experts" what they recommend. BTW, the racing oils I speak of are something like 10 weight so they are anything but thick. Of course they only need to last 1/4 mile or 500 miles.
  4. Greg, You are correct about ZDDP. I work in the industry (20 years) and have seen the changes in engine oils. However all of my experience is with Diesel engine oils and driveline lubricants. The current CJ-4 oil does have lower ZDDP. All the field tests I have seen, run, and am currently running show lower internal engine wear with CJ-4 compared to previous oils. Part of any oil approval process involves an engine lab test with slider followers and it must pass the wear specification set by the OEMs. This is so the oil is "backwards" compatible for older engines. So while I understand your concern, you should not have any concerns with CJ-4 oil in older Diesel engines. There are still some CI-4+ oils (high ZDDP) on the market but are being supplied only in drum quantities. As I stated, I am not familiar with gasoline oils (S classification) but I think "racing" oils have higher ZDDP. My company has worked with several racing teams to develop a gasoline oil specifically for their application. Before you all start thinking "free" oil, my company does not sponsor any teams.
  5. Ventilation air is not blowing from the RH center and RH vents in the VENT or A/C position. Air is blowing from the LH center and LH vents. In the DEFROST position there is air coming out the defroster vents on both the RH and LH sides. I have a HVAC book but it does not explain this issue. Are there separate vent tubes for the LH and RH sides? Do I need to remove the computer under the dash and circuit breaker panel to get access? I had the computer cover and dash panels off but cannot see where they connect. Any thoughts on this issue? Thanks!
  6. I had the dash panels off today to do some HVAC work (issue in another post) and I noticed an oil film on the air and wiper air supply lines. Any thoughts on what is causing this film? I checked all the fittings and they are tight. Is there oil in my air? I drain the air tanks.
  7. It is along Route 22 just west of New Alexandria (Watts Mack) about 2 miles sitting on the south side of the road. It appears to be a private individual but he may be a member of the fire department. I do not have the phone number nor do I remember the fire company name on the side of the truck. My guess is Watts sold it new.
  8. You can try the FMCSA website (www.fmcsa.dot.gov). These agencies don't understand this is a hobby and not a business!
  9. You are a bunch of young pups! I am an old fart, old enough to be thinking about retirement but poor enough to keep working! My 401K is a 200-1/2K.
  10. How many and how big are the parts? I will have a small rental car but would be willing to bring them with me. Let me know.
  11. French Lick (and yes Rob there is such a place ). I looked at the map and Bloomington is about an hour north. I am driving there on Friday and back home early Sunday morning. Conference runs Friday night to late Saturday night.
  12. Barry, On my way to and from Blair County today (Saturday), I saw a R model fire truck for sale along Route 22. It is just a few miles west of your dealer. What do you know about it? I see the price is $12,500. What is it worth? Thanks!
  13. So THIS is where the "odd" ones hang out. Now I understand.
  14. Nice drag cars and drag truck but back to the Mack! Nice Mack! What is the name of the color? Looks similar to my MH (baffin blue).
  15. Barry, Nice work! How about including the appropriate Mack part number for the part? Or did I miss it?
  16. This Saturday is not good. I will be in PA at my mom's farm working on the tractors and mowers. Next weekend is not any better as I have a business conference in southern IN all weekend. I don't have anything planned (at this time) for May 2nd or 3rd. I need to work on my own stuff one of these days. Also need to get my Mustang out of hibernation. Too many jobs, too little time! Say hello to Rob! BTW, where do you get your parts? R&R? Brechbuhler? Cleveland? Sidley? Any discounts? I get most of my parts at R&R and receive about a 10% discount. I wish they were open on Saturday.
  17. Hey Larry and Greg! What do you think about getting together for Saturday or Sunday breakfast/brunch/lunch? Bring the trucks and have an impromptu show. Are there any other members within an hour or so that might be interested in a group meeting? If Rob flies into CAK we could meet at the 356th Fighter Group. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
  18. And I thought this was a site to discuss Mack trucks!
  19. I am not getting in the middle of this one. (But a little extra weight might help!)
  20. I have a 1992 EM7-300 V-MAC. I think the timing and advance are controlled by the computer and a sensor.
  21. Welcome to the group from Canton, OH!
  22. Maybe that is why my MH bounces.
  23. Hey Larry, I was close to you on Friday. I took my MH to Hartville Feed to have it weighed (12970#) and then to North Canton BMV (Rt. 43, State Street, and Cleveland Ave.) to get it inspected, OH title, and license. What a hassle at the Title Bureau! Over an hour but it is "OH legal" now. Drove it straight back to Congress Lake since it was a rainy day. Ham, green beans, and mashed potatoes for Easter. Leftover ham - M, T, W, Th, and F.
  24. Dave, What designs were the first and final Michelins? I have XDN2 on the rear and XZA3 on the front.
