  1. You know that’s a really good question…for some reason I think not as a lot of trunnion stands wouldn’t be getting cut out. I’m sure the axle surgeons would have that answer. I’m gonna look into it.
  2. You think that’s expensive you should the price on MP engines lol
  3. Those u bolts are torqued to something like 1400 ft/lbs. 😯
  4. Plus your not gonna get any closer! So if you have the money I would do it. Then you know that whole rear suspension is good to go. Also it’s gonna make that job much easier getting it all in one piece.
  5. Mack seems to be very high on their internals. A lot of cat guys use PAI too I think for that reason. Haha
  6. Does it do it with the switch in either position? Take the valve cover off and inspect. Anyway to get the engine brakes to work while running it stationary Joey?
  7. That is very possible. I haven’t seen one go bad yet, but you have seen a lot more of this then I have. Sounds like a communication issue
  8. Sounds like you may have found your issue, good to hear!
  9. Powerloss? Sounds like an air leak.
  10. So not to go against the grain here, but if you would like to do the job and you have a knowledgeable guy to help you I’d say go for it. Only if you don’t need a trunnion stand and If you plan on doing springs too. You can get the whole spring assembly already put together and u bolts already torqued. Basically slide it on and put the few pieces on the shaft.
  11. And like Joey said we are here to help to the best of our ability. We all started somewhere….nobody knows everything and a lot of us learn so much from all skill levels!
  12. I personally wouldn’t even attempt it, I believe the trans has to come out. I’d be curious as to what this issue is.
  13. Cool picture
  14. Yes he is! I always enjoy his posts
  15. These two guys here are the ones I was thinking of for this question, your in good hands with Glenn and Joey!
  16. So now this is all starting to come together after V brought this to sense to me and F said it’s no longer used. Didn’t some of these MPs have problems with dropping exhaust valves? If so is it safe to say it was the years with the DRV? If that’s correct can we say it was because of the DRV and its less scavenging effect? As we know scavenging helps not only push exhaust gas out but also cool cylinder temps/valves. We know the intake valves always gets cooled with the rush of intake air over it but with a large decrease in scavenging the exhaust valves suffer from any kind of cooling. So over time and many regens later the exhaust valves or seats fail and drop?
  17. Ahhhhh, I always wondered how exactly this would make more heat and now that you mention the scavenging it makes a lot of sense!
  18. PAI is actually very good from what I understand. A lot of very good engine builders use there kits. Sorry bluie dm for us kinda hijacking your thread. 😕
  19. Can’t agree more! Especially when rebuilding an engine. Your name/business is on that engine. Basically your business card. Plus now you have that tool and you will probably do a few more so it will pay for itself eventually. Alot of these engines are going to just keep getting rebuilt as long as parts are available and the truck around it holds up.
  20. I love a 12 speed mack! Eaton 8ll is good but I have found they have 3rd/7th gear sliding clutch issues
  21. Hahahaha I understand that “holding it like an egg” comment! Also i don’t know about you but I love an excuse to buy new tools! 😏
  22. Thanks Joey wasn’t sure about that
  23. Looks like your in New England area with those patriots stickers 👎🏻 Make sure that road salt isn’t beating the hell out of your radiator/intercooler. We see a lot of that down here in PA. A lot of radiators get replaced….
  24. Not my money, but someone else was laughing…
  25. Hahaha yes they are! Truck we had only had like 40k miles on it. Gave it away for 40 thousand dollars. 97 400 Eaton 8ll
