I doubt it. There is so much torque limiting programming going on that you will probably rarely ever get to use the engines "rated output". Emissions. Emissions. Emissions......

Not that it means anything but the Mack Website still shows 3 "performance specifications" for the MP8: Maxidyne, Maxicruise, and Econodyne. Honestly if you look at the horsepower and torque curves for the Maxidyne and Maxicruse there is almost zero difference. Actually, the Maxicruise makes slightly more peak torque at the lowest HP setting (415). If they are doing away with the Maxidyne I can see why. There is almost nothing different about it to justify its existence and affect on Volvo's bottom line. I'm sure their marketing people did a study and concluded those customers who wanted a Maxidyne would just take the Maxicruise if it was the only option.......

Don't you have to take it to a PA enhanced inspection station to raise the GVW if it has previously been titled at a lower GVW and/or if you add axles? When I bought my triaxle out of Virginia it was registered at 80,000 GVW and the PA notary made me get form MV-1 (I think that was the number) filled out by an inspection mechanic that stated the truck's setup was sufficient for 73,280 GVW in Pennsylvania.

Slow and steady wins the race LOL 🤣. But seriously another thing to look into is the gearing. A lot of these newer trucks have insanely (to me) fast gears to maximize fuel economy, or were specd to run in areas with no hills like the midwest. Put them in mountains with a full load and they will move the load but very slowly.....You could have one of those setups with like 3.08:1 rears......

Yea I figured that would be peoples' reaction. The way I see it the information contained in those binders is worth 10x or more of the asking price (if your willing to get your hands dirty). But if you come to the this forum looking for information I assume you are willing to do your own work. I guess it just depends on your wrenching abilities and how long you expect to keep the truck for. Whenever I buy a new truck or piece of equipment the first thing I do try to find all the available shop manuals and reference material for it. I tend to buy equipment and hang onto it long term though so it eventually comes in handy.....

I assume since you are asking about an E-Tech engine your DM is 1998 or newer. If that is the case the below link is to the entire set of service manuals you would need for your truck. Yea White Motors really sent a lot of once good brands/makes to their graves. Freightliner and Western Star got sold to Daimer, Autocar and White went to Volvo. Plus they destroyed the Oliver, Minneapolis Moline, and Cockshutt brands of farm equipment.

Does it have to do with the motor mounts you are using and/or where the motor mounts bolt to the truck's frame? Perhaps there is variances in these that are causing the engine block to be located farther back. How much room do you have in the front?

Sorry but it was not me that bought them. It was @BGarofalo that bought them for $580/tire I think he said. I was just agreeing with him that they last longer than the Chinese tires in my experience. Personally, I run caps on my drives. For my application they are the best solution. I run very few miles and am operating at fairly low speeds. They last me a very long time. I purchase Michelin or Continental steer tires when needed.

This. I can't stomach the thought of running the cheap Chinesium tires. Especially on a steer axle. A lot of guys say they are fine but I don't know. Look at the quality of everything else manufactured in that country. Why would tires be any different? They just don't hold up like a Michelin, Continental, Goodyear, etc. in my experience.

I agree. I still don't understand twin stacks on an inline 6 engine period....there is only one manifold. If its and E9, 3408 Cat etc. I can understand the use of twin stacks with those engines but even those I think join together shortly after the manifolds to go into the turbo. A lot of the new trucks with emissions and DPFs just have a dummy pipe on the drivers side that goes under the cab and is open ended. For looks only. My 94 RD Dump has a factory weed burner exhaust and I actually like it better than having a stack. I don't have to worry about the side of my bed getting all sooted up. Also I think its a little quieter having the muffler down underneath vs. vertically up next to the cab...If had a dollar for everyone who told me to put a stack on it I wouldn't need to work anymore 😂

I think its a supply and demand thing. A 425 float is a very commonly used tire available almost anywhere. They benefit from commonality and competition of many different brands making them. These 12R24.5s are fairly scarce by todays standards and not many companies make tires in that size anymore. The 12.00x24 is on a whole different level of scarcity yet. I think Bridgestone is the only "name brand" company left making virgin tires in that size at least available here. That's why you see such ridiculous prices on them.....They are the only game in town.

Its funny how supply and demand works. A Michelin or Goodyear in 11R24.5 is about $500 less than the exact same tire in 12R24.5. Is there really $500 less rubber and steel in an 11R24.5??????? WTF? At least you don't need 12.00R24s. They are like $1500 each now.

Man I was just looking at 12R24.5 and the options are extremely limited compared to an 11R24.5. Your basically screwed into $1200/apiece Michelins / Goodyears or some Chineseium brands with little to no information on. 12Rs carry about 550 pounds more in either dual or single configuration over a 11R tire. Have you considered going to a 11R24.5 or do you need the extra capacity?

I am no expert at all on Whites (or Macks for that matter) but I understand the cab is or is a version of the Autocar "Driver's Cab" developed in 1950. When White acquired Autocar they began using this cab on Whites as well as Western Stars. This cab was replaced with a completely new model when the Road Boss 2 came out in 1976 or 77. Volvo acquired the rights to it when they purchased White Motors in the early 80s and was used up until the late 90s or early 2000s. I think the Autocar Driver Cab was still used to some degree well into the 1980s with the White AT64 and possible some other Western Star models. Information of White Trucks is almost non existent and their forum is all but dead last I checked. For a company that was so big information on them is very hard to find. I don't have any knowledge of where Brockway sourced their cabs prior to Mack buying them out. After that they used versions of Mack cabs.

Yes I will concede this forum is probably by definition and in reality a form of social media. And I actually have contracted services from a fellow forum Member who I did not previously know sight unseen so I guess I will eat some crow there. I just think that as a one man band you open yourself up to too much negativity and bad reviews on FB and Google that could hurt you in the long run. I see so many good small business that have bad reviews or less than 5 stars because some moron got butt hurt about something. And like you said the way of the world is everyone puts so much stock in those ratings and reviews anymore…. Joey it sounds like you already have as much work as you need anyway. I think you would have much more meaningful relationships and contacts by going out in person and selling the service that way based on your reputation. Word of mouth referrals will follow. Plus you are only heading out in a 30 mile radius from home….
