  1. For me it was Matchbox cars....I used to smash them in my dad's bench vise and pretend they were in a wreck.
  2. That was the appeal of this truck. I wanted something a little different. You really don't see many original tanker trucks anymore, at least I haven't.
  3. I'm going to go with a vintage Gulf oil colors. The old orange and blue.
  4. Bcr, I don't know if I'm the right man on this but I'm the ONLY man on this. 😆
  5. After a while of being off the project, I'm back at it. Removed all the damaged sheet metal from th rear quater panels and the whole floor of the tank box. I made a framework for the new floor to attach to and support the pump and counter a little better than the original. Fabricated new quater panels from 14 guage sheet metal. Now the box doors open and close without beating on them. Gotta long way to go but it's taking shape.
  6. I always wanted a COE to restore. I like the unusual stuff.
  7. Merry Christmas to everyone in BMT land!
  8. I guess on a gas model the rpm range didn't matter as much as a diesel, especially one with a multiple range transmission.
  9. That's awful. I always wiggle the shifter a few times before trying to start it. (Wait for it.)
  10. That's awful. I always wiggle the shifter a few times before trying to start it. (Wait for it.)
  11. Thanks for all the information, I'm glad I joined this group.
  12. I made the request for information at the end of October. It's a free service so I know it will take some time.
  13. It's wired to the starter directly with number two wire.It is a stout piece. Looks like it was replaced with a new one not long ago.
  14. I've done that with this one too. Just gotta remember to take it out of gear. No extra foot for the clutch pedal.
  15. It may get one now too! Seems like I always get the oddball stuff.
  16. No tach. I thought that was unusual myself. I may put one in though. I figured that was the button location, it's empty. Any ideas?
  17. I think that's the way to do it. This truck is supposed to be a 1960 model. Kinda old technology for that year though. I'm still waiting for the information from the Mack museum to find out the exact year of this truck. What gets me is the hole in the cluster looks like it had something in it at one time. But the starter button on the firewall looks original as well.
  18. My b 42 has a foot operated starter push button mounted on the firewall just below the steering column. I've noticed others have a push button in the instrument cluster. My cluster still has a hole where a button could have been. Which one is correct? The floor mounted one looks like it could be original and it's a pain in the behind to operate. You need to be a contortionist with one extra foot to reach it.
  19. I sent a request for some info about my b 42 at the end of October and I have been camped out at the mail box every day waiting. I can't wait to see what comes.
  20. It's the same thing with paint and materials. I used to be able to go into the paint store and say what I needed just by the DuPont number. Now that DuPont is now known as Axalta , I have to learn a whole new number system.
