  1. I wondered the same thing. I fixed mine by looking in the tank with a flashlight one evening and saw a small worm shaped chunck of some type of sealer stuck in the fuel outlet, which is in the tank bottom at the flattest possible section. I drained the tank and sucked the culprit out with a skinny attachment on my shop-vac. Always use the proper tool for the job is my motto!
  2. I really like my B2910. The only time it ever let me down was when it had a piece sealant floating around in the fuel tank that would cover the fuel outlet tube on occasion and make it almost shut off while I was trying to use it. The loader has made short work of moving around some of those heavy-ass Mack parts.
  3. The frame is actually pretty clean. Surpringly though considering it came from Pennsylvania. The tops of the fish plates are pushed out about 1/8 inch at the very top though. It seems to have been well maintained in it's lifetime judging by the 25 pounds of dried grease all over the back half of the frame. And the many newer replacement parts on it.
  4. Finally got the tank separated from the frame. It's resting on four 6 ton jack stands and two 2 ton screw jacks. Now the frame is stripped down and ready to start the cleaning process to remove nearly 60 years of crud and grease. I took the tractor and raised the front as high as I could get it to pressure wash the underside as well as the top and everything else I could reach. Next will be preping for paint after all the parts are gone through, cleaned and rebuilt as needed.
  5. Ooppps. Shows you how much I know.
  6. Same thing happened to mine as well. I changed the theme from carbon to flux and it straightened out. The theme setting is all the way down on the bottom of the page. Hope this helps.
  7. Me too but I seriously doubt they will. The place will close for good one day and they will probably be scrapped.
  8. I agree. I have seen so many "I'm gonna fix it one day" projects sitting around in yards and fields just rotting away. Sometimes it makes me sad of the wasted potential.
  9. In my travels today I went past an old trucking company and spotted a glimpse of a Mack front end. I turned my vehicle around and went back to get a better look. I pulled in and sure enough, I saw the red and white one. After finding the owner of the company, Isaid " I would like to ask you about the old mack". The first words out of his mouth were , "it ain't for sale. I fixed it up years ago and got it looking pretty good. I'm gonna do it again someday." He then proceeded to tell me he had a dump truck between the sheds out back. I went to look at that one as well. I was surprised at the condition of both trucks. Very little rust except in the usual places ; floor pan where it meets the cab back wall , crusty surface rust, etc. The dump is a gas motor and the tractor trailer is a diesel. Of course neither has run in many years. If a person flashed a WHOLE stack of cash you might be able to get them , but neat to look at and dream.
  10. This round of priming took a gallon and a half. Once I finish block sanding it with 180 paper I'll put another few coats after that in prep for blocking with 400 paper. So after all is said and done I will have used 3 gallons or so. That doesn't include any of the rest of the body. I haven't touched those parts yet.
  11. Finally got all the filler work done and several coats of urethane primer. There are still some areas that need a little more work. I see a WHOLE LOT of block sanding in my future. 😲 Next major undertaking is to get the tank off and start on the frame. 😨
  12. I would almost give my left.......( you know what) for one.
  13. Any day that involves a load of old iron is a good day. Love the COE by the way.
  14. I was going to mention the one in Winchester. I had been to it a few years ago and enjoyed it. It wasn't a really big one if I recall but I really enjoyed it. Maybe I might run in to some of you guys while I'm there. The tanker won't be ready by then but I love to look around.
  15. I always went to the truck show in Carlisle to look for parts for my 60 Chevy pick-up. I would wander around the show field a little and look but like Mike said, too many booming stereos and hydraulics. I did see a few big ones roll in but they were FAR from the antiques I was hoping to see. I too won't be going back. BTW. How far from Carlisle is Macgungie?
  16. Anybody on here take your rigs (new or old) to the truck show in Carlisle PA in August? I may go just to be a spectator and look at all the really nice trucks. Maybe a stray one will follow me home.
  17. Thanks bob. I can't wait to paint all of it and start putting it back together. It's satisfying to put freshly painted parts together!
  18. Veriprime is still available but for both components it runs around $450 for both gallons. Whichever one you use they both have very noxious fumes even for a few days after spraying.
  19. Thanks 41. Perhaps I will be able to show the completed project before everyone goes to a nursing home.
  20. It's Nason brand etching primer. Still made by Dupont (Axalta now) but a WHOLE lot less expensive. Sanding while sleeping....haven't tried that yet. But it may explain the other night when my wife thought I was trying to be romantic and I was dreaming I was block sanding the wquarter panel!
  21. Got all the paint stripped off and sanded to clean bare metal. Applied two coats of a lovely colored etching primer and now the fun begins.....BODYWORK! Every evening when I'm done it looks likea ccocaine factory blew up. White dust everywhere.
  22. I have a 28x32 shop and while the truck fits pretty well, I still could use some more room. Take it from me, if you can go bigger than you think you will need. Ten foot tall doors or more are a blessing as well. Good luck with the new builfing. Will it be a work shop or storage?
