  1. Passing on the word that we lost a great Mack man today. Bob passed away today at home. He introduced me to the old truck hobby and started my passion for the LTL and W model Macks. He was a personal friend to me and a friend to many others.
  2. Former Mack CEO was once CEO of CCC. Jack Curcio.......... he left Mack for the position so there must have been a connection there. My first big air compressor was an Ingersoll with a 12V71 and when that ol gal wound up it was flat terrifying to bunch old steel painters. Nothing today kicked ass like that big air did.
  3. Mike, i am now working on an H61T too!!!!!!!! but here is the frame for and engine for the 66 R model.
  4. Finally found a cab for my 66 R model restoration. Noticed the steering column came out of the cab differently and the steering box was different on the frame. Took a look at the tag on the door and it said B61. Walked around and then saw the BCR tag under the air cleaner. Called my friend that I got it from to let him know this was a BCR. He said he knew that and when he was young he remember the B model well and then one day the company had a new R model. He never knew they kitted the B model until years later when he bought the "R".
  5. The B61 integral sleeper is sharp. Can anyone tell me if they made 2 sizes of the sleepers on the integrals? I have seen what appears to be a larger sleeper as this B model is compared to other B's i have seen?
  6. I had the pleasure of meeting Bill on several occasions. He sent me a book he wrote titled " Wheels and Deals" (he chose a Mack CH on the cover) and it is the story of his family building the business. I sent him a Mack Jr badge as a token of appreciation and I hope it is in the museum. He left us way too soon. A really neat person with a passion for the bulldog.
  7. Thanks for the pictures. I am going to take that painted super slab idea and install in my shop!!
  8. I took a drive at the Mack customer center with one and I will say it was very impressive. It was quite a nice ride!!
  9. This is from the 66 R model I am restoring. The hub connecting to the brake drum is one piece and only a few inches to spare. What is the tool to hammer out a broken stud? in the picture you can see my guy tried to take a bolt and push it out with no luck.
  10. The owner advertises or did in the Double Clutch. John Chalmers. and I think you are correct about the hwy as I was below the turnpike and then went North to catch it into Pittsburgh.
  11. I was coming back from visiting Gettysburg with the family heading to Pittsburgh for our flight home. I hit the brakes and did a U turn. Nobody was home though but I did get some pics. There were a few trucks in the garage too.
  12. The B model and trailer reminds me of the one in PA at Chalmers place. Looks like it was driven there and parked.
  13. considering what it takes to get a B looking like that..........not a bad price either. I believe that truck belonged to Hess out of ILL?? saw it up close in Auburn ATHS show.
  14. Damn right!! That is one tough old truck and well taken care!
  15. I was wondering if the clean idle sticker had to remain or be displayed since I am seeing so many of them on the new rigs. And when you say that the truck was ordered with the bullet lights but did not have them on it, does that mean Mack is paying for them or you just out of luck?
  16. What are the thoughts of everyone here about getting a nice new rig like that and then having the factory put a big sticker decal on either the hood or door that it is certified? Seems like they should give put the decal in the cab and let you decide how to mount it and where? But I like the rig and the front end is sharp........it is a looker.
  17. I like the looks of the Granite style grill on the Titan over the one pictured.
  18. I don't mind .......... I can decide real quick if I want to continue to read the subject and or comment.. It is better than haveing the big cop deleting messages and deciding what is right and wrong for me. But just don't say off colored comments about the Mack trucks of the good old days!!!!!
  19. Nice!! I have been seeing some new Freightliners for UPS in the west.............not good.
  20. My opinion on the LT for sale. A reasonable price would be in the 3-5k range. But if a person is going to do a restoration or at least a get it running and legal overhaul you need to be able to buy it or any old truck for that matter for as low a price as you can get it. It just flat costs so damn much money and your time to do the job. The 48 LT has a different frame that was not too good. There was a beautiful LT with a Hall-Scott up in the MA area. I belive it was sold to a collector in Australia?? The problem with that HS motor in my opinion is the cost to operate if you want to drive your truck. And the LT in an original stock condition as a driver is not that great. Unless you repower and change the mounts such as front springs, engine, tranny, etc you stand a good chance of being stranded. If you note that the steering wheel in an LT comes straight at you. This was changed with the later B series L cab trucks by putting the U joint at the dash. A much more comfortable position. I attached a picture of my LTH (heavy) and this was a one owner logger with all orginal mounts ect except for the spring hangers that the owner changed within a yr to create a better rid. The LTH has a 3/8" frame also vs the 1/4" that the LTL has. All around the LTH was a better truck. And you are right that most LT's in the west ended up as water trucks etc and the LTL was not intended for that and most are badly broke up. The LT that the guy(Goode?) in PA rebuilt into a modern rig is awesome.
  21. Hey guys, would you believe that I polished the trailer myself too?
  22. I'd love to be there! But I am in Oregon now however, an original New Castle, PeeeeA native. I agree with your take on having a laid back get together.
