    Shop Talk

Look on the bright side, they ain't worth too much and are all over the place. Pretty low on the food chain as compared to an RTLO (something) or 8LL. Still one more headache to deal with though
  2. My MX is pretty easy to get over 7. I put 2 speed rears in it . They work great for crawl'n through soft ground loaded
  3. That's a huge plus right about now. 60? that big bastard ain't even break'n a sweat I bet.
  4. Time machine . Thanks for sharing
  5. 8.4 loaded ? Holy cow. How many miles a day ? I'm convinced the biggest factor to mileage is still the right foot. You're right though, the new stuff is really efficient especially compared to how they run.
  6. OD, you have no idea. There's a Peterbilt in some of your pictures. I know the guy that owns it and was showing him. He was pretty happy seeing it. You made his day.
  7. Is it just me, or is there a lot of shots of a black B model dump truck in there 🤣 Thanks for posting. Once again...great pictures
  8. Pretty much like Joey said. It looks like there was something that was bolted on the tailgate (?) Whatever they used it for doesn't seem to have much to do with what you're using the truck for. Might better take it completely off the truck before you end up with a big short .
  9. You are correct . The link does work and I DID get a chuckle . (so that's what happened )
  10. The second one has the pump in the front . That mixer of Erie Materials looks similar to the chassis originally posted. They must have been state of the art when they were mew
  11. That Erie Builders truck doesn't look to have any drive for the mixer on the front of it, and the chassis in the first post doesn't either hmmmm
  12. I bet they've been zero emission for a while
  13. It looks like in the pictures the outter rail drops in front of the drives and the inner liner stays the same.....like a DM ??
  14. That is a Hendrickson. It was a really busy suspension and in all actuality ??? it didn't articulate very well. Usually if you got that set up it was 3 17,000 pound Timkens . They'd have 6 wide base tires as opposed to duals . It was sometimes used in mixers (or dumps) and B53s were a fairly common choice for a mixer chassis.
  15. See ???? that's the effects of climate change. That nasty weather that's solely created by fossil fuels
  16. There's definitely rubber bushings in the centers. There's such a thing as heavy welded housings. Count the bolts on the axle flange (6 is some form of 44,0000 pound and eight would make it 38,000 pound ...in general. Mack axles can get confusing. 38s have a somewhat smaller axle flange with 8 bolts) No matter, interesting find and it looks to be in fair condition at the very least.
  17. It was a really popular publication. If you paid for it , it came a couple days earlier. Or ??? if they had your address, it just kept coming , but a few days later so you may have missed out on a hot deal.
  18. There it is. A biweekly magazine we all used to get. It was fantastic reading while on the shitter.....and often read from the back to the front by many.
  19. Vlad, are you sure that truck has lighter axles ? It certainly looks to be a like something that would be made heavier. Or do you think that may have something to do with having been exported at some point ???
  20. Another two and a half years you'll be fanning yourself with an old TNT magazine you found that fell behind the toilet.....you know, one that didn't actually go down the toilet like most everything else we're used to.
  21. I have tools. I want motor and transmission out at once. New clutch and all...new harness, compressor damper on front. It's 50 hours minimum if it was at a dealer , so I figure around four regular days if I have everything here as far as parts. Then there's always the thing or ten that don't make it through the swap (lol) Very hard to get any labor here.
  22. Geeze Joey, I'd give ya 5K to come put my engine in and I'd pay for the motel for the week
  23. All coming together now, beautiful work you're doing. I'd agree, sounds pretty good.
  24. Just a guess, but in my opinion ??? the air cleaner and ducting looks a little small for a Detroit . If it was a Detroit it'd have been a 6-71 and they moved a lot of air through them.
