  1. This is normal, we get calls all the time on MP oil temps. And actually 250 is normal in the summer.
  2. If you have the AC 460-E it can be turned to a 460-P which is 480 to 487 HP ( depending where you read) . The dealer can do this.
  3. We alway bump the pump timing up 1 to 1.5 degree's over what it say on the valve cover. Most of the older VMAC 1's and VMAC 2's we check, the pump timing is always set lower that whats on the valve cover. 21 to 30 psi is the Spec on the boost pressure , so your way on the low side of spec.
  4. We change all of the Borg Warner Cool Logic fan clutches out for the smaller Behr Fan clutches. Also the Horton 2 speed air fan clutches work good but more stuff to add on and ECM reprogram to go to the Horton I believe. With the Behr you buy the fan blade, clutch and hub and bolt it on and plug it in and go.
  5. Nice looking trucks! And at least you Mack sign is on top of the Volvo sign!
  6. Sadly I believe they are still using a plunger/rocker arm on the injector in the new set up. This was told to me by some higher up's . The pictures I have, you cant really tell. If this is the case, we haven't really bettered ourselves and will still have injectors jiggling around this their cup's. I hope Im wrong.
  7. In the pics of the Mack common rail I have , My favorite part I have seen is that the enging harness under the valve cover is replaceable without having to replace the entire engine harness as you do on the older MP engines. Bad news is it looks like everything is contained under the valve cover. Im gonna need way smaller hands to adjust the valves on these motors!
  8. Always pull the drive shaft if towing, Its a $15,000 mistake if you dont. We wont even push one into our shop if the engine wont run and the drive shaft is in , all it takes is 250 feet and your done.
  9. They have now included some GU's and MRU's in the recall now. Also some Titans were included on the first recall with the volvos.
  10. None of my books have a 8-8 code, it jumps from 8-6 to 8-9. An 8-9 is a shorted EUP or EUP harness shorted. I usually start by removing all 3 Engine ECM connectors and cheking for oil or antifreeze in harness and bad or missing pins . If all ok there I then remove all the wires from the EUP's and check OHM's reading across the 2 EUP post , all 6 EUP's should read the same. Replace any that are way off.
  11. I got some pics sent to me of a cut-away of a MP8 common rail engine. I will add them when there is an offical Mack anouncment as I dont want to get the guy in trouble that sent them to me. Looks like its all under the valve cover and its cramped under there. Also pic of the optional turbo thats it some how hooked to the flywheel ( improves MPG) . Also the "Cleartech" DPF/SCR unit all made into one unit to save space. Some really crazy/cool stuff comming out of Mack these days.
  12. Im now unable to attach PDF files or pics. Never had this issue before. When loading , it says something like "error while loading file" . This is on my Windows 7 Toughbook in internet explorer . Anyone else have this problem?
  13. Seen alot of that years ago with the local chicken trucks. Mack has a service bulletin on it but I cant seem to attach it. Its SB121031, Hopefully someone else on here from a dealer can attach it.
  14. Another vote for Injectors. Putting a set in now as we speak.
  15. Follow the plastic or braded line on top of the filter stand to the firewall. It should go to the bulkhead pass through on the fire wall. Take note of were it goes in at, then look inside the cab and fine where it comes through. The sensor should be on a "Tee" where the line comes through or on the bulkhead pass through above or below where the line comes through.
  16. I would treat any of these new diesel pickups just like BMW's, I would not own one unless it was covered under the factory warranty!
  17. All 4 are different and wont cross over to each other. Only the ETECH injector will return fuel through the head that its dosent use. CCRS and ASET AI and AC injectors return no fuel. Unknown what "pop" pressure or flow specs are as the Mack tuneup books no lonnger have that info.
  18. We have lots of "rust throught" issues with oil pans here. Also the oil level/temp sensors seem to leak alot.
  19. Was a valve spring broke? We had a high mile MP-8 that had a ticking sound in the top end. It was a broken valve spring but driver kept on driving it till it dropped a valve. After that we always pull the valve cover and look for broken valve springs when we have a ticking noise in top end. We had a couple of 04 emission MP-7s with broken valve springs and the 09 MP-8 and thats all we have seen here.
  20. Remember that 2010 and up SCR/DEF trucks have 2 NOX sensors
  21. We sold alot of CTP and CXP trucks because everyone knew the DPF engines were coming out the next year. Every one that we sold are still running. We had a few with broken rings , bad cams and turbos and that was worst that we saw.
  22. You could only get a MP-7 (non-DPF) in a CTP, no MP-8 for that model. The CXP and CTP were only in 07 i think. You could get the 7 or the 8 in a GU. I dont know about the frame differences if any.
  23. We have seen this alot. We have not found an answer. We have seen the discharge line fitting get clogged with carbon and be slow to build up air. We remove fitting and clean out and all is good for a while.
  24. Yes , It should work on all ETECH's that are 427 or 460 HP with the plastic fuel return line from the heads to the overflow valve on the side of the block. Not all 2002 engines are CCRS, I have seen regular ETECH's in 2002. The plastic fuel return line gives it away as being a regular ETECH engine.
