  1. Just got a email from Mack today and they have a new AHI moduel coming out in a few months that is built into the fuel filter housing. We'll see how this goes! Also a 2 speed water pump.
  2. Just the smaller Behr electric viscus and Horton 2 speed air are the only ones I have seen. Last week we ordered a replacement Borg Warner Cool Logic and got a retro fit Behr kit with fan and hub and clutch. We called Tech support and they set up the download and we were good to go.
  3. Here is the Mack/Volvo compound setup
  4. 3-5 code is the front head engine brake solinoid. Remove the front valve cover and check for a broken ground wire coming off the solinoid. Common issue. However I have had to replace some engine ECM's due to the code not clearing .
  5. I assume your talking about the AHI module. We go through them like crazy too. I have heard that oil in the air system takes them out quickly. Change you air drier filter once a year is what I'v heard to make them last longer. Also the emission extended warranty wont cover the new style AHI module. The had lots of unhappy customers over this.

1999 Etechs can be bumped to a 400 with a download at the dealer. No hard parts. However they like for you to install the bigger vibration damper. Any thing bumping Etechs that are 350/400 up to 427 or 460 require turbo and injectors and cam shaft key way replacement to keep from overheating. This is for the 1999- 2001 ETECH engines, the 2002 CCRS ETECHs and ASETs all have straight camshaft keyways regardless of HP. You could go with some aftermarket injectors and turbo and skip the dealer all togethhttps://www.rochesterdiesel.com/store/medium-heavy-duty-trucks/mack/97-06-e7/mack-performance-injectorser.
  7. The ETECH engines had the 490XT program The CCRS had the P ( 487 hp) and the E motor as well. I didnt remember seeing the P version of the CCRS so I pulled out my 2002 Mack Tune Up book and it did list them both.
  8. Today I got some info from our Mack District Service Manager that the new engine will be out in late September/early October. And also the factory fill oil will be Exxon Mobil 10W30.
  9. See if your actually pluggin into the com-port and not a jumper harness. Alot of truck are running Qualcoms and other data loggers that plug into the com-port then run their com-port to where the factory one is. You think you plugging into the factory one but your not. Some brands of these data loggers/Qualcoms cause funny issuses with the PTT/VCADS. Also we have a VOCOM unit here that only works with the round 9 pin adapter. For some reason it wont work with the newer trucks with the OBD square plug.
  10. Have you had the recall done to the fuse panel down by the clutch pedal? Water was getting in them and causing lots of weird issuses. Are you getting any SCR derate faults for the DEF guage showing empty?
  11. Oil temp being 250 or alittle higher is no big deal. There is a Mack service bulletin about that but I still cant attach any files on here after the site format change. whats the water temp doing is the real question? As others have said , slipping fan clutch or clogged radiator is my guess.
  12. Like FJH said. If you have PTT/VCADS software, Get truck up to opearating temp and do a VGT turbo function test and watch the motor effort of the turbo actuator. If its getting over 128 it could be the vains sticking in the turbo. In that case you need a new turbo. If you dont have the PTT software then I'd replace the boost sensor and also replace the harness end if its a non-DEF model. The dealerships have the harness ends. Also check the intake manifold for broken bolts and check the after cooler's top and bottom tubes for being blown out , its very common.
  13. This is normal, we get calls all the time on MP oil temps. And actually 250 is normal in the summer.
  14. If you have the AC 460-E it can be turned to a 460-P which is 480 to 487 HP ( depending where you read) . The dealer can do this.
  15. We alway bump the pump timing up 1 to 1.5 degree's over what it say on the valve cover. Most of the older VMAC 1's and VMAC 2's we check, the pump timing is always set lower that whats on the valve cover. 21 to 30 psi is the Spec on the boost pressure , so your way on the low side of spec.
  16. We change all of the Borg Warner Cool Logic fan clutches out for the smaller Behr Fan clutches. Also the Horton 2 speed air fan clutches work good but more stuff to add on and ECM reprogram to go to the Horton I believe. With the Behr you buy the fan blade, clutch and hub and bolt it on and plug it in and go.
  17. Nice looking trucks! And at least you Mack sign is on top of the Volvo sign!
  18. Sadly I believe they are still using a plunger/rocker arm on the injector in the new set up. This was told to me by some higher up's . The pictures I have, you cant really tell. If this is the case, we haven't really bettered ourselves and will still have injectors jiggling around this their cup's. I hope Im wrong.
  19. In the pics of the Mack common rail I have , My favorite part I have seen is that the enging harness under the valve cover is replaceable without having to replace the entire engine harness as you do on the older MP engines. Bad news is it looks like everything is contained under the valve cover. Im gonna need way smaller hands to adjust the valves on these motors!
  20. Always pull the drive shaft if towing, Its a $15,000 mistake if you dont. We wont even push one into our shop if the engine wont run and the drive shaft is in , all it takes is 250 feet and your done.
  21. They have now included some GU's and MRU's in the recall now. Also some Titans were included on the first recall with the volvos.
  22. None of my books have a 8-8 code, it jumps from 8-6 to 8-9. An 8-9 is a shorted EUP or EUP harness shorted. I usually start by removing all 3 Engine ECM connectors and cheking for oil or antifreeze in harness and bad or missing pins . If all ok there I then remove all the wires from the EUP's and check OHM's reading across the 2 EUP post , all 6 EUP's should read the same. Replace any that are way off.
  23. I got some pics sent to me of a cut-away of a MP8 common rail engine. I will add them when there is an offical Mack anouncment as I dont want to get the guy in trouble that sent them to me. Looks like its all under the valve cover and its cramped under there. Also pic of the optional turbo thats it some how hooked to the flywheel ( improves MPG) . Also the "Cleartech" DPF/SCR unit all made into one unit to save space. Some really crazy/cool stuff comming out of Mack these days.
  24. Im now unable to attach PDF files or pics. Never had this issue before. When loading , it says something like "error while loading file" . This is on my Windows 7 Toughbook in internet explorer . Anyone else have this problem?
  25. Seen alot of that years ago with the local chicken trucks. Mack has a service bulletin on it but I cant seem to attach it. Its SB121031, Hopefully someone else on here from a dealer can attach it.
