  3. If you could find a RD with a Horton air fan already installed you could get the VIN and take the # to your dealer and they could figure out what parts needed. . Also remember to take the truck to the dealer to get the "smart fan" and "air conditioning installed" enabled in the engine ECM datafile. Also check the AC high pressure line coming off the drier to the condensor, for a fan/high pressure port and you will need to add a high pressure switch so when the AC head pressure hits 300psi the fan kicks on.
  4. The worst truck we ever sold was a new CV with a AI 400, Fuller 8LL trans, 4.17 gears and tall 24.5 tires. We almost had to buy it back. if your gonna run tall rubber with a AI engine , you better have atleast 4.42 gears. 4.64 gears pull good but limit your top speed and burn alittle to much fuel. Mack paid for a few rear gear changes here at our shop due to unhappy customers back in the early AI days. My good friend has a 05 CV tri-axle with a 427 AI with a 8LL, 4.42 gears and tall 24.5 tires and his is about right. It will do 79-80 MPH and pull good. We have done all the software updates+ a special Austraila engine file. Our next step on his truck is a full 5" exhaust with a high flow muffler. I think his turbo is about to go out so were ready with a 460 turbo and 460 HP download. We are also going to try a fuel cooler before summer hits.
  5. If any body is wants the Horton change over to air fan. fan clutch.pdf
  6. Does it look like oil mist/leak on the front of the engine? These fan clutches leak oil and it blows on the front of the engine. There might not be a drop of oil on the fan clutch its self but the front of the head or valvecover will have a mist on oil on it. Then again sometimes they dont leak. The newest version/part# seem to be lasting alittle longer.
  7. If its the Borg Warner Cool Logic fan its junk. We have a pile of bad ones here and warranty doesnt even ask for them back. I have put 2 on my friends 2012 CHU. Horton makes a kit to swap it over to one of their air fan clutches.
  8. Are you looking for the "serial link A" or "B"? These wires/connections are usually used for trip recorders or driver log type things that monitor road speed.
  9. All ASET engines ( AI and AC models) that have the Powerleash engine brake need to have the rocker arm hold down bolts cheecked or replaced. We have seen many come in with broken bolts, broken rocker arm shafts and at worse needing a cam job due to a shattered roller rocker. Please check the part # on the bolt heads! I have seen broken bolts lead to broken rockerarm shafts which can cause oil pressure to get into the powerleash oil passage causing the engine brake to engage randomly going down the road. rockerarm bolts.pdf rockerarm shaft.pdf
  10. Here some info I found on dash issuses with your year model truck. sb732005 dash.pdf
  11. We have never had to remove a filter and have it cleaned on the CXU/CHU/GU models. We have some CXU's with 700,000 miles on the orignal filter. We had a few turbos go out and pump oil into them and we replaced them. Had a few EGR valve stick open and "face plug" the cat filter and we just blow it off with a blow gun ( while wearing a mask). Gotta be something else wrong going on.
  12. Yes , the exhaust manifold gaskets and studs are know to blow and break quiet often. Here is the new SB on the newest style parts. The center studs are now longer with spacers. It seems to help. SB214047.pdf
  13. Caused by running a dirty air filter or restriction. It sucks oil past the rings of the air compressor. We see it all the time.
  14. Our customers new Titan 605 with 5000 miles on just got its first test. 157000 pounds with cruise set at 65mph, topped the largest long hill around here without down shifting and lost just 5 mph. Their new Cat truck now just sits collecting dust.
  15. Boost pressure relief valve on top of intake maifold. a large brass valve/nipple that screws in to manifold and the turns to a rubber hose then into metal pipe that goes over the rear valve cover into the turbo exhaust pipe. They go bad alot. Has the boost pressure sensor been changed lately? There are 2 different part #s , if the wrong one is installed it will have low boost. Also turbo actuator sticking or to air to actuator, but should set a active code.
  16. I guess I come here when I need a laugh. But I know it's the same thing over and over. Im not overly thrilled with Volvo but I tried to scrape my pennies together to buy Mack but came up short. However I have plenty of MP's to work on and they get easier to figure out as time goes by and it pays very well. I could whine and bitch over stuff thats out of my control but why? Seems like lots of sandy vaginas around here anymore.

    EGR Emissions Delete

Id like to know how to delete the emission on a 08 and and newer myself! LOL
  18. We have had only a few go down at our shop however our other shop north of us does them all the time. I wouldnt wish one on my worst enemy. If I wasnt a dealer I'd pass on that one. We have some tech's here that like to do them, but not me. 5 year/ 500,000 mile warranty on that failure
  19. Sometimes I wonder why I even click on these threads anymore.
  20. What is the truck model? Is it a air fan clutch or a electric viscus clutch? If air, first shoot air directly to fan clutch (or take air away ) to make sure it will unlock just to make sure its not a bad fan clutch. It should have around 12 volts going to solinoid from fuse panel and the other wire goes to the engine ECM and makes or breaks the ground inside to engage/disengage the fan. High A/C head pressure , high intake manifold temp and high coolant temp will make the fan turn on .
  21. Mack part # 7536-173935 and there about $1200. And thats just the actuator not the whole turbo, crazy I know.
