  1. Well it was mentioned out here in the land of OZ or as like to call it "This wide brown land " I had no idea what VJ day was had to Google it, we call it VP day Do gooders the world over are trying to get rid of of these days of importance stuff them I say if we forget history we are more likely to repeat the same mistake and to try and forget the men that gave us our freedom thats a disgrace If I remember I will share something I came across that a US pilot left a Australian pilot in New Guinea during WW2 the AIr Force in the Pacific was like no other fighting unit in any other theater of war before or since the allies shared the crews parts planes and worked as one whole unit there was officially the US air wing the RAAF RNZAF and the RAF and no doubt whole heap of others in the big mix but on the ground and in the air they all worked as one I dont think it has ever happened since In Australia we value our history of what our men and women did a lot higher I think than a lot of other countries ( I say I think I dont know but just what I read I tend to think we do) Theres a mob down Melbourne way fixing up a Liberator bomber and they had a open day to raise some funds I asked some questions about the US air wing in Europe as I new the losses were high due to day light bombing, if you dont know the US lost 79,000 air men in Europe alone I then I read on here how these types of things arent been taught at your schools thats a real shame I guess all I can say I hope you all teach your kids and grand kids all about what was given for the freedom at home as it appears from what I reading the government is not gunna teach them any of this at school such a shame to all the men that fought to free the world so that I can live in a free country thank you and to all the women who gave so much in so many different ways thank you as well Paul
  2. Gudday and hows it going mate dont let a couple of people sour your taste for the forum on a whole we are all fairly good bunch of blokes and you did well sticking up for your self and your family

You've done really well so far with your truck hardly any B81's were sold in Australia and if there was one around here it would be worth  a fortune

Funny thing about these collectors and fruit loops like us you can never win sometimes it seems its ok for some blokes to wheel and deal in old Macks on here and not others dunno but all the carrying on from some wasnt gunna do none of  us no favors

Best of luck with what ever you end up doing Im sure what ever decision you make will work out all ok in the end

Good luck at college we dont have college in Australia and schools and medical  are all free as well unless you choose to go private most dont

I yack with Tim Maikshilo  (hes on the forum) every week or so and all though we both speak the same language  there is some big differences between Australia and the US in health care and education he finds it hard to believe its all free over here and always has been at least all of my life

all the best mate and dont let these buggers get you down

I dont think there is much chance of that

  8. To new for me to be of any help sorry Paul
  9. You are right about them been a bit lite on for detail. And hows that US brochure 1 sheet of paper? You good onya. If people are gonna spend some decent coin, they wanna know what they are buying. Come on Mack USA get your act together. You are really letting the team you wanna convince truck drivers to give up the Road Ranger and Maxi Torque get off your bums Mack USA and go out there and show the drivers teach the drivers FFS pre school grade kids good do a better job of selling them Kevin, does Mack USA do a traveling Road Show like they do out here? Have a group of trucks that travel all over the country giving people drives of these new trucks or do they think people are gonna just roll in off the street and ask for something different? When the Maxidyne was released out here, they did the same style of thing and when Super-Liners and ..................... the list goes on. You want people to buy something, they have to know what it is and why. rant over Paul
  10. That oil filter would tell someone smarter than the newest it could be dunno wont be any newer 71 or 72 as Mack had spin filters with extended service interval around that time Back axles if you can see the hubs should also give some hints as to how big the truck is , I cant see no turbo so if it 34 ass end it may have been a Power Pup, Mack turbos on these motors sort of sat forward of the oil filter if its non turbo I think it would be only around 150 hp maybe 160 at the most A whole lot of guessing going on from me Sorry Im not gunna be of much help here Paul
  11. Mad dog welcome to the forum Im not a big Mad Max fan but thats just me so I dunno much about the movies Cundalini is still looking for his hand the old Falcon was a cool looking gadget and the Mad Max off road runner is cooler I reckon Mad Max 3 I have never been able to watch and I havent even bothered trying watch the latest offering The best R model was in the first movie with the folder on the back What makes you think it isnt a cool power the R model in the second flick ???? Paul
  12. sorry Swishy I was only just clicked the enter the room button and called away so had to bugger off again bad manners on my behalf Paul
  13. good on them I hope they have a great time and make memories for a life time Paul
  14. Well there's a big difference in the styles of ads LOL I know which add portrays a tougher image. I'll let you all make your choice. Not one Mack working hard in one of them, the other is full of trucks working. And what's the go with the pretty music. LOL. Only music you should hear should be from the truck. And they wonder why they can't sell trucks ??????? Paul
  15. most times Im not a big fan when old trucks are done up like this but this one looks like it has come together real nice to me Paul
  16. From what I am told a lot of M drives sold out here pulling a lot bigger weights than the US surely that that must something Paul

  20. Mate I dont read merican LOL
  21. dunno Swish seems like pretty good Strayian to me mate LOL Paul
  22. I dunno what the figures are but Mack is slowly clawing back ground that once lost a few years ago The real shame is it would appear from what I read on here the BMT forum that Mack US isnt having the same luck I think actually Im certain the secret to do doing this is listening to what the customer wants not telling them There is a book out about when KW first came to Australia and the success that they KW had was the fact that KW came out to Australia met with transport companies and drivers and even went for drives up and down our main truck routes to see and learn and listen to what was needed they then went back and built something that could meet those requirements That truck the S model was as dear as poison compared to almost anything else around at the time in fact twice as dear as most other brands yet it sold well and that formula still works today got to sell people what they want not tell them what they want Paul
  23. Yes fantastic stuff the old white still looks fairly modern to me no doubt the blokes worked for a dollar back then all those tarped loads almost every truck was tarped back then before those flash trailers with gates and a hurdle at each end they only had one hurdle at front you would 3/4's they way down then stack your from the back forward like building a house so it lent in and held itself together Then it would be double tarped no cap tarp in the early 70's you would lift the tarps up on the load as you were loading other wise they are to heavy to chuck up on top I grew up on a spud farm and we always helped load or loaded for the truck drivers while they had a sleep feed and a tub before heading off the spuds werent tied on just chucked a trap over always left the tarp hanging never tied them off the drivers always tied their own tarps Most Aussie trucks with a bonnet ( hood ) had no sleepers up until I reckon the late 70's then we would start to see them with a bunk fitted they would quite often leave the farm Friday night and head to Brisbane for the Monday mornings market so I guess they would be there midnight Sunday nearly 1200 mile in two days they were hard working men back then Had one bloke who had a bad run and was a bit lite on coin he put 40 ton on stacked up like a double decker stock crate 14 foot high man oh man that was a big load and he was fairly under the pump he's freckle would have been puckering dropping down Cunninghams gap into Brisbane with that big load pushing him Only saw trailers with gates and curtains ( the tarps you hang on the gates like the one shown ) in the early 80's onwards and then the taught liners appeared on the seen and hardly see any tarped loads these days blokes dont know how any more I think thanks for sharing that Kevin really enjoyed and Im just a farmer Paul
  24. If this has only just started to happen make sure no little friends made your air cleaner into their house over night even if it has gradually started to happen on a older motor I would say the air cleaner is blocked dunno about these flasher newer ones Paul
  25. certainly different than what we do out here but looks good just the same We arent allowed to weld anything at all to chassis rails out here not allowed to drill holes thru flanges either different part of the world and a different set of rules good work your nearly there Paul
