  1. Yardo has been my nickname for years. My CB handle is "Son of Sam."
  2. Cousin Ben...Cousin Vinny.....Everyone has a relative on here 'cept me, I feel left out.....I wanna be "Uncle Yardo- The Lawn Boy Hater" Just call me "Uncle Yardo" for short....
  3. ugly girls and u-models need love too ya know.....just sayin....
  4. Mark, it was not uncommon at all for Hayward F-Models to come out of the factory with big iron under the hood- hence the cut-outs in the bumpers to accomodate the bigger grills/radiators. Same idea as the early Freightliners- big horses to get over the mountains. A bunch of meatheads even put big 2-strokes in them. Me, personally I would rather have had a big Cummapart than mix oil with my gas, but thats me.
  5. not a lawn-boy so yer not interested, huh?
  6. It's been a while since I have seen one- but the whole cab does not lift away, it is more of a "hatch" section of the rear canopy that goes over the engine. There are probably about 2 dozen bolts going around the perimeter. Loosen the bolts and two guys can lift the hatch away.
  7. I have the 1958 FWD Firetruck tagged (in Pa.) as an antique. I run it regularly on I-78, I-476 and SR309. Have never been pulled over. Always have the correct insurance paperwork and registration in the glove box in a plastic sleeve along with a CAT scale ticket showing the axle and gross.
  8. next time I see you I am going to kick you in your man berries until you spit blood, and then 20 more times for good measure. Just kidding. Or maybe not......?
  9. I know you are in the Netherlands, but if you get desperate, try this guy: JOE BERTINO Vineland Auto Electric 382 South Delsea Drive Vineland, New Jersey 08360 (856) 691-5845 Joe is extremely knowledgeable of antique Macks and antique alternators (all types.) He has restored several Macks and currenly owns an absolutely gorgeous 1926 Mack Ladder Truck. He has helped me on several occasions including rebuilding the Delco-Remy alternator on my 1958 F.W.D. firetruck. If you want, maybe I could call him and get his email from him for you. Let me know.
  10. Just wait until you have to drive yours for 8 hours. Then come talk to me. When I was a firefighter at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard many moons ago, we had a Ward Lafrance/Maxim Ladder Truck with an 8V71 behind you........the noise was so bad that the Chief came out with an SOP that any firefighters riding in the jumpseats had to wear ear muffs.
  11. I wish I had taken a picture of him slobbering all over the 1958 FWD with the thunder pumpkin with (GASP!) spark plugs & a carburator!!!!!!!!
  12. This one kept falling out of the left side of his crib when he was a baby......
  13. Ok everyone, HR4024 made it through the house, next stop is the Senate. Senate Bill S2372, which will be heard on 6/27. Please contact your state senators and ask that they vote in favor of this bill.
  14. He ate too many lead paint chips as a child
  15. I have a headache now and there is oil all over the desk under the computer
  16. Kent, earlier you identified the clutch make/model. When I called the guys in Baltimore, they knew right away what I was talking about. They specialize in older clutches, but then again double plate spicers are pretty common, so anyone should be able to do it.....They fully rebuilt my single plate 15" Lipe-Brown clutch- new pads, rebuilt the complete assembly, and even spun-balanced it all. Now if I can just remember who the heck the place is.....I have it written down somewhere.....somewhere......lol
  17. Does anyone have any good pix of Hayward F-Models?? Back when my father was an O/O leased onto Charles E. Danbury Inc. (trailer broker) he pulled mostly brand-new trailers out of the Trailmobile factory in Lansdale, Pa. (near Philly.) He had a Hayward F-Model with a 300, 5 speed and a single Rockwell drive axle. I did many miles in the right-hand seat of that truck in the summer time and on weekends. Then later on, he leased on with Harry J. Muschlegel onto Southwest Freight Lines. That single screw/5-speed tractor was great for empty trailers but eventually got too small for freight work, so Dad bought an Allentown F-Model with a 300+, an up-and-over 10-speed and twin screws. He worked very hard wade through the paperwork to obtain his own ICC operating authorities back when they de-regulated all that crap in the early 1980's. Thats when Harry Muschlegel asked him to come into the office "for a few weeks" to help him obtain operating authorities for the company he was forming- a little old outfit called JEVIC TRANSPORTATION. Dad's "few weeks" in the office turned into 20+ years driving a desk. Jevic finally went public with the stock, and that was the beginning of the end- Dad retired about 3 years before Yellow sold them out and they went tits-up. But enough with memory lane- Hayward F-Model pics anyone?????
  18. If yer gonna replace the throwout bearing, you may as well replace the clutch or have it rebuilt since you are pulling it anyways. I know it is a little far from you, but there is a fantastic clutch place in Baltimore that rebuilt the Lipe-Brown clutch on my 1958 FWD......It was only $400 bucks and they did a top-notch job, and the guys there are top shelf people too. I couldnt recommend them any more, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the place. IIRC someone on here pointed them out to me.....Does anyone else on here know of whom I speak of????
  19. Does anyone know what the final count was, and who/what won the best of show award???
